Harry and Scott are finishing up with a patient when they get the call that the ambulance is on their way with a code red
They get as organised as they can before Sammy and Amy are charging through the hallway, where they meet Scott and Harry
As soon as Scott and Harry notice Louis on the gurney their hearts sink
"Suicide attempt, blood loss, pulse is weak, we've managed to stop the bleeding but we can't stabilise his pulse" Amy relays
"Okay, Abbey call the blood bank, we need two litres urgently, Lucy get a line in, fluids up" Harry says, his tone hurried
Lucy and Abbey nod and get to work straight away
Everyone gets to work and Harry and Scott try to stabilise Louis once again. They try to put aside their feelings and just focus on keeping him alive.
"His artery hasn't been severed but he's lost a lot of blood" Scott says as he assesses Louis wound.
"His pulse is all over the place" Harry says worriedly
Things happen quickly and Louis is hooked up to blood and fluids. Harry and Scott do a few tests to find out why Louis won't stabilise, there has to be another reason.
When Louis test results come back Harry is concerned
"It's his kidney, he needs antibiotics straight away" Harry relays to Scott before he's telling the nurses what to do.
"Those antibiotics should have cleared his infection up, somethings not right" Scott says
The boys are worried something just doesn't add up.
Scott finishes stitching Louis wrist up and they wait for Louis to respond.
"Come on kid" Scott says as they watch the monitor hoping Louis pulse starts to stabilise
"Let's put more blankets on him, get him as warm as possible" Harry instructs
After about seven long minutes Louis pulse finally starts to stabilise
"Thank god" Scott says
They give the nurses instructions to change Louis and clean him up before they both leave Louis cubicle and head to chat alone
"I really don't understand what's going on" Harry says as Scott shuts the door behind him
Scott remains silent,
"How the hell are we going to tell the boys he tried something, again, they will be crushed" Harry says, tears in his eyes
"We're going to have to put him on a seven day suicide watch" Harry then says
Harry sighs and looks towards Scott who's silent with his hands on his hips
"What?" Harry asks curiously
Scott sighs and rubs his hands down his face
"Scotty?" Harry asks
"There is no possible way he inflicted that wound on himself Harry" Scott says and Harry looks at Scott in wonder
"I strapped his arm so tightly and it's still completely intact, he can't move his hand properly, how the hell did he have enough force to slit his wrist. If he had have, his shoulder would have dislocated again with the force" Scott says and Harry realises Scott is right
"Wholly shit Scott" Harry says
"Yeah, I know we can't prove anything just yet and we have to let things play out but I am not ruling out Louis being abused and someone wanting to make sure he wouldn't tell" Scott says
"His dad?" Harry says in realisation
"We can't prove it, and it's his word against Louis, but we should at least be aware of the possibility H. Louis deserves the benifit of the doubt and I don't know if the boys will want to believe their own dad could be doing this to Louis" Scott says
"You're right, and we can't go accusing people with no proof" Harry says
"We will keep Louis under our watch, in our section for seven days, at least we can treat him then and maybe he will open up to you or I, we will bring Kim in, tell her in confidence. I don't think we should tell the boys yet" Scott says
"Good thinking!" Harry says
They both try to wrap their heads around everything and all they can do is wait for Louis to wake up and see if he will talk at all.
On the drive to the hospital Troy calls Andy, and puts on the tears
"Dad, slow down, what's happened?" Andy asks as they make it back to the apartment and he puts the phone on speaker
"It's Louis, Ed, I walked upstairs to check on him and found him on the floor, he'd slit his wrist" Troy sobs into the phone
"Dad, is he okay? Please tell us he's okay" Drew says panicked
"I don't know, it didn't look good, I'm following the ambulance" Troy says
"Shit, we will meet you at the hospital" Andy says and they all rush back to the car
It's silent on the way to the hospital the boys just hoping that their little brother is alive when they get there
Louis comes too about an hour later, he's in a private room, with glass windows to his left, he can see the rain pouring down over London. He hears the slow beeping sound of the machines, and his gut sinks as he registers where he is.
His whole body aches. He tries to move and notices there is a drip on his wrist and a bandage over the cut his dad made. His shoulder is still strapped tightly to his body. He's been changed into a navy hospital gown and Louis notices how cold he is, the oxygen in his nose is annoying and he reaches up to pull it out just as Harry and Scott walk into the room.
"Hey there darling" Harry says sympathetically
Louis let's a few tears fall as he stares at them both
"Sweetheart, talk to us, you're okay, we're here" Scott says as he and Harry walk towards the bed
Louis doesn't respond as he wipes a tear away
"You're going to be okay, we managed to stop the bleeding in your wrist and we've given you some blood, so you're going to be fine" Harry reassures
"I wanna go" Louis says as he sits up and takes out his oxygen completely
"We can't allow that Lou" Harry says sympathetically
"Please" Louis says as he pulls back the covers
Harry and Scott grab Louis gently and stop him leaving.
"Lou, this is the second attempt on your life in a month, we legally have to keep you for seven days on suicide watch" Scott tells Louis as gently as possible
"No, I.....please I didn't mean it" Louis says as he gets worked up
"Your kidney infection is also back, your dad said you weren't taking your medication and as a result it's come back and we need to treat you for that as well" Harry says
"But he...that's not fair he" Louis says before he stops himself
Harry and Scott catch on though and look towards each other
"He what darling?" Harry asks
Louis breathing picks up and he cries he shakes his head as if to say nothing and he cries
Harry and Scott pull Louis on and comfort him as best they can.
"We've organised for Kimberly to come see you. She'll be in everyday for the seven days okay. Harry and I are on shift and you're under our care the whole time, we promise you you're safe and we will look after you" Scott says as he kisses Louis head
They both help Louis lie down again.
"We need you to rest okay, we will let your dad and the boys know what's going on but you need rest" Harry says
"We will bring them in to see you for a few minutes okay" Scott says
Louis just lies back and doesn't respond. He doesn't want anyone thinking he tried to end his life. Everything is so fucked it and the boys are going to believe whatever Troy tells them
