In the village I walk
Rocky beaches and cobble roads
A public garden filled with roses
Along the beach I walk
Collecting shells and sea glass
I put them in my pocket to later add to my collection
I feel at peace here
The tension leaves my body
Shoulders relaxing and brow unfurling
I can imagine myself here
Among this small village
With its rocky beaches
Cold salty sea breeze
Familiar cobble roads
And friendly neighbors
But as the day comes to an end
My time here closes
I must leave the village
And return to the impermanent place I currently call home
The tension returns
My shoulders tighten and the headache returns
My soul feels heavy and tired
"One day," I say
"One day I'll call this place home."
But today is not the day
And it won't be for a while
And it may never be
