⊰᯽⊱┈──╌❊╌──┈⊰᯽⊱

It was night back in Kyle's mansion. These days, Kyle has been busy investigating more deep into Paris' life background. He was sure that there was a reasoning to why Paris was accepted to work for the major family so easily without even having any type of experience as a bodyguard. She wasn't just 'accepted' because she was good at martial arts. There had to be another cause that allowed this to happen.

Kyle knew his father perfectly well. Probably even better than his older sister, Kai. The leader of the major family would never accept just 'anyone' to work as a bodyguard. There was something more deep behind all of this, and Kyle couldn't figure it out. But he was not going to stop until figuring it out. Even if he has to investigate everything by himself.

*Knock Knock*

There was a knocking at his door. This was one of the bodyguards of the mansion. "Come in." Kyle uttered in a low voice as he swirled the pen in circles through his fingers.

As soon as the bodyguard heard the voice of his boss, he entered the office. He saw his boss sitting down at the table with a lot of papers around him. He seemed to have been extremely occupied these days with these documents.

"Mr. Kyle, you called me to come over here. Is there anything I can do for you?" The bodyguard bowed down slightly before looking up at his boss again.

Kyle clicked the pen in his hand, closing the ink before sliding two photos through the desk with his other hand, passing them to the bodyguard infront of him. "Last name, Peterson. These two are Paris' and Parker's parents. I heard that they got hit to death by a car. The person behind this seems to have been someone wealthy. And the case was cut loose after. Which means that the police still hasn't found out until this day who the driver is yet. Do me the favor and search more into it. Find out who did this for me."

The bodyguard creased his brows slightly as he examined the two pictures on the desk. He didn't know why his boss was wasting his time investigating about something that had nothing to do with him. "Why are you so interested in this matter, Mr. Kyle?"

Kyle lifted his gaze to meet eyes with his bodyguard. Those eyes were just as piercing as Kai's. Despite of him being the youngest child of the major family, he was still very intimidating to meet eyes with. "I just want to know, that's all." Kyle responded flatly with no further explanations.

"Do you think that the one behind all of this could be someone wealthy that is close to your family?" The bodyguard asked while perking a brow. He knew his boss very well at this point, and he could sort of guess why he was doing all of this.

"Most probably." Kyle answered while placing the top of his pen underneath his own chin, causing it to 'click' again, and open.

"But if that's the case, then why would your father accept Paris to work as a bodyguard, knowing that this case could relate to his family?" The bodyguard proceeded to ask more.

"Well, it could probably be because of Paris' martial arts skills, or her courageous personality." Kyle paused for a second before adding, "Or maybe...She could be the daughter of someone close to my father."

Hearing this, the bodyguard couldn't help but to wrinkle his brows even more. "Huh?"

"Nevermind. Just forget what I just said." Kyle waved his hand at him. "This may be the last thing about Paris that I want you to find out. We have lost a lot of time because of her. Way too much time. So, please. Do me this favor and don't take too long."

"Yes, sir. I'll do my best." The bodyguard bowed down once again, before exiting the office, leaving Kyle alone once again.

Kyle let out a deep sigh, swirling the pen in circles through his fingers again, and again. He wanted this investigation to be resolved already. It was stressing him out at this point.

*Bzzzzz! Bzzzzz!*

His cellphone, that was on the table, suddenly began vibrating with an incoming call. It was already almost ten, who could be calling him this late at night?

Kyle took his cellphone to read the name of the person that was calling. It was Parker. Kyle hesitated to answer. He knew that if he picked it up, then he would be wasting more time. However, at the same time, he was missing Parker's voice so much. Especially now, that he hasn't been able to tutor him as often as before because he has been busy.

His thumb remained still, in between the 'green' and 'red' icons of answering and hanging up the call. After a few seconds, he finally slided his thumb, answering the call. "Hello, Parker?"

"Oh, hey! I thought for a second that you were not going to be answering my call." Parker's voice was soft and gentle, as always. It was so soothing to listen to his voice again.

"Sorry about that. As you know, I have been a bit busy these days composing a new song. But, what's up? Did you wanted to tell me something?" Kyle asked while leaning back against the chair, sitting in a more comfortable position. Whenever he spoke with Parker, it always relaxed him from all the stress somehow. He really needed this moment with Parker right now.

"Don't worry, I understand if you are busy. And well, the reason why I called you is because I wanted to tell you that I was able to write another song by myself. I decided that this time, it will not be about my sister, but about someone else." Parker explained, his voice sounding kind of shy at the last part.

Kyle perked a brow hearing this, and repeated, "Someone else? May I know who?" He was curious to know.

"Um, I...well...I can't tell you who it is. It's a secret. But, what I can tell you is that it's a love song." Parker responded shyly.

Kyle lifted his brows very high, taken aback by this. "Do you like someone?" He didn't know how to feel about this. But something was telling him that perhaps he was the one that Parker was starting to like. And if that was the case, then it kind of made him relief, and also, kind of happy, to be honest. He didn't know why though. Would he be considered selfish if he disliked the fact that Parker could like someone else that is not him?

"Mhm, y-yeah. For a while now." Parker couldn't help but to stutter. He was nervous.

"Hmm, since you aren't going to tell me who it is, then, can I at least know how that person is like?" Kyle asked, wanting to make sure that his thoughts weren't wrong. Parker wasn't that difficult to read. He is naive, and would express himself more than most people. However, Kyle still wanted to ask to see if the person that Parker likes is similar to him.

Parker let out a nervous laugh before replying, "Well, this person is...Cool. Knows how to write songs too. And, very, very kind with me."

Despite of that simple description, Kyle couldn't help but to blush slightly. There was no doubt that Parker was talking about him. Parker has mentioned before that he doesn't really have friends. This only meant that he was only talking about one person that has been close to him lately. And this person, is no other than Kyle. The description fitted Kyle perfectly just like a puzzle.

Kyle gulped down dryly, trying to calm down. He could feel his heart pounding rapidly against his chest. He couldn't believe that Parker could make him feel this way. This was the first time that he was actually having these kinds of feelings towards someone. He coughed, clearing out his throat before speaking, "That's interesting. Well, unfortunately, I have to go now to get back to my writing-"

"Wait, wait, wait!" Parker interrupted abruptly. "I know you have to go now. But, since we can't see each other as often as before, can you listen to the song quickly before you hang up?"

Kyle let out a deep sigh. Why was it so hard to reject this boy? Whenever Parker asked him to stay a bit longer with him, Kyle would always agree. "Okay, I'll listen."

This song was probably one of the cutest things that Kyle had ever heard in his entire life.

It was the next morning, and Paris and Kai were already back at the mansion of the major family after their date. They arrived extremely late last night, when all the bodyguards were already asleep. Only the ones guarding the entrance were the ones that were able to see them coming back home.

No wonder there was so many rumors about them. Not seeing them around the house was probably more strange than the moaning inside of Kai's bedroom everyday, but whatever. That didn't really mattered since the bodyguards had no evidence to prove that Kai and Paris were actually having something together.

Paris was currently outside, at the backyard, taking a break from work. Pearl accompanied her to have a chat about how the rumors were going. Paris didn't really give a fuck if others found out about her relationship with Kai at this point. They will eventually have to reveal it one day. Therefore, it was better that the bodyguards had an idea about it, so that when they actually find out, they will not be too shocked about it.

"So, why did you come outside? Are you going to smoke?" Pearl asked Paris, changing the subject.

"Nah, I will quit smoking. I just came to take some fresh air." Paris responded while adjusting the tie of her uniform. Well, the tie wasn't even part of the female uniform in the first place, but she had chosen to wear it because she likes it.

Pearl lifted her brows, surprised by what Paris just told her. "You will quit? Oh, wow! I would've never seen that coming. That's impressive. Love can change people, huh?"

"Maybe?" Paris shrugged, and subconsciously smiled to herself.

Pearl noticed her little smile instantly, and couldn't help but to giggle, "Aww! Look at you! Smiling to yourself while thinking of her. You really are crazy in love."

Paris let out a laugh, covering her mouth. She could almost feel her cheeks blushing. "Shut up, Pearl! You are making me shy."

"Shy? The Paris I know has never been shy!" Pearl laughed along with her.

"Stop teasing me!" Paris pouted. "Once you fall in love with someone, I will annoy you to death! That will be my revenge."

"Oh, hell no! I better stay single, then." Pearl shook her head before letting out another laugh.

Paris smiled brightly before suddenly recalling something. "Oh, right! By the way, look!" She reached out for the pocket of her own blazer, taking out a cellphone. "Kai gave me my phone back last night. I can't use it while I'm around others since it's not allowed. But she told me that I can use it whenever I miss her so that we can chat."

"Waah! She really is spoiling you now. You two basically live under the same roof but still need to chat with each other?" Pearl asked, not believing this. It was so unfair! However, she didn't mind. As long as they were both happy.

Paris sticked out her tongue playfully while winking an eye, "Don't be jealous."

"I'm not. Why would I?" Pearl said before taking a glance at her own watch. "Oh, crap! It's getting late. We should probably head back inside now so that we don't get in trouble."

Paris gazed around before replying, "Okay. I'll catch up to you in a second. I'll give Kai a quick call."

"Oh, my God! You two seriously can't be apart for at least a few minutes. Don't take too long, girl!" Pearl shook her head with a little smile before entering back inside the mansion, leaving Paris outside alone.

Paris didn't waste anytime and immediately called Kai. It was to no surprise that Kai picked up the phone faster than a lightning. If it was someone else, then she would probably not bother to answer the call that fast. "Hello, dummy!" Paris teased her.

"Dummy, who? I think the silly one here is you!" Kai striked back with a soft laugh. "What's up? Did you needed something?"

"Not really. I just miss you already. But, since we are talking now, then, why don't you send me a cute selfie of you before I start working again?" Paris bit her own bottom lip after saying this.

"You're missing me that much? Aw, okay. I'll send you one. But you also need to send me one of you too, okay?" Kai was not going to let Paris get a selfie if she didn't get one as well, of course. This had to be fair for both of them.

Paris, "Okay, okay! I will. I'll hang up now, then. Bye bye!"

Kai, "Bye!"

As soon as Paris hang up the call, she pressed on the 'camera' icon, and positioned herself for the selfie. She quickly fixed her hair, making it look nice before smiling to the camera.

Just when she was about to snap a picture, she noticed that there was someone standing behind her, causing her heart to drop for a second. "Hey!" She shouted loudly while turning around, taking a better glance at the person that was standing behind a large tree, frightening her.

This person was a beautiful young lady that appeared to be twenty-one or so. Her curly hair was half tied-up in a ponytail, and half loose. Dark blonde hair, looking almost like a light brown. Hazel eyes, and her skin extremely pale. It was way too pale for it to be normal.

She almost looked like a ghost. And Paris was terrified of ghosts. She didn't know if they were real, but if they were she would probably have a heart attack. But, this beautiful and short-looking young lady, couldn't be a ghost, right? Why was she just standing there? Saying absolutely nothing. It's so creepy!

"Paris! What happened?" Pearl asked with concern as she turned Paris' around by the arm abruptly. She had heard Paris' shout from the inside, and thought that there was something wrong, and she immediately went outside again to check if everything was alright.

When Paris noticed Pearl, she was able to finally calm down and she tried to explain to her what she just saw behind her. "I don't know. I just saw someone behind-..." She was not able to finish her phrase because when she turned back around, the young lady had already vanished from there.

There was no trace left behind. There was nothing standing there anymore. What the fuck is happening?!

"What? Who did you see? There's no one there." Pearl squinted her eyes, seeing absolutely nothing behind the tree that Paris was pointing at. "Are you okay? Are you hallucinating?"

"No! I swear that I saw someone! But, but...It disappeared!" Paris was so frightened that she couldn't speak properly anymore. Something like this had never happened to her and she hated paranormal things the most. This was the worst thing that could ever happen to her.

What the hell was happening now? Why did life had to bring so many surprises?
