Excitement glowed in your eyes all while you skated in the back of the pack. Your skirt swayed to your gracefully moving feet across the cold concrete beneath you. A small smile tugged at your lips as you watched everyone walk in front of you. And don't worry. You weren't staying in the back because you were too slow. Truthfully, everyone was sort of hoarded in one big group, so you decided to give yourself some more room and skate behind the pack. You didn't really want to smell the body odor of what seemed like a thousand men. The only bad thing about it though was it blocked your vision of the long-limbed man. Therefore, you had little to no idea of what was happening up there. However, it didn't last for very long because after only a little while of walking, everyone in front of you began running.
A sigh escaped your lips while you sped up. Your feet moved faster as you swayed your arms with the motion of your skates. Since you didn't particularly enjoy running, you were pretty much dreading it. Even though you weren't necessarily running, you still didn't enjoy it. Maybe if you were chasing someone or if someone was trying to chase you, then maybe it would be more enjoyable. But this was just boring and draining. Don't get me wrong. It's not like you were tired. It's just that you never really were forced to train. Your stamina was still up to par, but you never just went on a run for fun. You'd much rather just sit and stare at birds than run... And by that you mean lay in your bed all day and be lazy.
Y/n POV - 'I mean who the hell ENJOYS straight running. All in favor raise your hands.' This played in your head as you rolled your eyes and mentally raised your hand up. You groaned slightly while continuing to skate and occasionally forget what you were doing.

After a bit, you slowly took notice of the amount of people who had already fallen out. You believe it has been around 2 hours since you first started skating. You had slowly moved your way a bit closer to the front. You would have stayed in the back still, but since people were dropping out and you had already tripped over a few bodies.... You decided it would be best to just move up a bit. You really didn't feel like apologizing to anyone anymore.
You probably had only been up there for a few minutes, when you noticed a familiar boy with white fluffy hair, easily identifying it as the young boy named Killua you had met a few hours ago. His back was facing yours as his head stayed forward. The occasional movement of his foot allowed the yellow and red skateboard he was on to move forward. A small smile filled your face, and you skated up to the boy.
Y/n - "Hey kill!" You spoke happily as you came up beside him. His head turned to face your face. His face stayed expressionless all while his blue eyes examined you smoothly moving figure. His eyebrows scrunched lightly, before his (e/c) eyes gazed down at your feet. As he looked at your roller skates, he couldn't help but grin curiously. You saw his eyes light up a bit as he looked at your skates.
Killua - "Woah those are so cool! I didn't know you could roller skate. " He spoke in a happy tone while looking back at you, gazing into your happy eyes. You quickly radiated confidence as your cocky attitude came through. However, you didn't realize or rather know what cockiness was.
Y/n - "I know." You said to Killua while putting your hands on your hips. A proud expression filled your face as you skated beside the boy. The boy deadpanned and looked away from you. He started to skate faster as you followed closely beside him.
Y/n - "And where are you going?" You asked him while still following the boy. Your hands were behind your back as your feet moved in a smooth motion across the floor. Your eyes were wide and held interest as you cocked you head to the side, bringing your (h/c) and white hair with your black highlights along with you.
Killua - "Just trying to get a little bit ahead." He answered without facing you. You sighed and decided it would be best to follow the young boy. Although he was young, the white-haired boy seemed pretty mature for such a young age. You couldn't help but wonder what his family life was like.
However, silence enveloped the two of you for a few minutes, as you both gradually made your way towards the front. Only the sounds of peoples heavy breathing and everyone's feet hitting the ground could be heard. And soon, you found yourself next to Killua and running past the group you had seen earlier. However, you soon slowed after hearing a man beginning to yell at both of you.
Leorio - "Hey, wait up kids!
Killua - "Hmm?" Killua and you both turned your attention to the man behind you. As soon as you saw him you remembered he was the man that came with the other two boys. You smiled slightly then looked around for the green-haired boy.
Leorio- "How 'bout you two show a little bit of respect for the exam!" He shouted this while he was sweating and running. You quickly stopped looking for the green haired boy and snapped your head in the man's direction. A confused expression filled your face, all while you gazed over his tired body. Let's just say that he didn't look like he was doing too swell.
Killua - "What do you mean?" Killua countered back quickly with an emotionless expression on his face. While you, had begun to daze and slowly leave the world, not paying any more attention to the conversation.
Leorio - "I mean, quit using a damn skateboard and roller skates! That's cheating!" He Hollard this out to the both of you while panting. All you could respond with was a confused face, as you quickly paid attention and faced the man.
Y/n - "What?" You muttered this just right before Killua spoke. You had broken out of your trance, and you just so happened to hear that this man was accusing the both of you of cheating.
Killua - "How's that?" the young boy questioned this emotionlessly. You nodded in agreement with a pout on your face and crossing your arms all while your feet did the work for you.
Leorio - "How!? This is an endurance test that's how!" You scrunched your eyebrows at the man and had a 'wow your dumb' face written all over you. You were just about to tell him something, but someone else cut in.
Gon - " No it's not. " Everyone's focus turned to the green-haired boy who was running behind everyone. However, instead of surprise your eyes held curiosity and impressiveness. They widened ever so slightly losing their normal glow. Your now odd eyes filled to the brim with interest as you gazed over the boy. He was strong. That was all you could think of. The aura which surrounded him was incredibly strong. Your lips parted, knowing full well that he indeed had not grown to his full potential. Not even close in fact.
Leorio - " Huh?" Was all you heard, forcing to snap out of your small rant. You quickly blinked your eyes, realizing that your feet had moved on their own. Stumbling over your feet slight, you avoided having a little date with the ground and quickly got back nice on your feet. As soon as you gained full control, you swiftly gazed down then forced your eyes back onto the green haired boy. In an attempt to jump back into the conversation.
Leorio - " What are you babbling about now Gon?!"
Y/n POV - 'Oh so his name must be Gon...' Your eyes lost the battle and quickly glowed their usual shine once again. A small grin made its way to your face, thinking while listening to what the boy was going to say.
Gon - "The examiner guy only said we had to follow him, that's all." You nodded your head in agreement and started to roll over to the boy. Killua was following behind you as you got closer to the boy.
Leorio - "Hey who's side are you on anyway!"
When you got to the green-haired boy you smiled and rolled to the opposite side as him. You put an arm around his shoulder and poked his cheek.
Y/n - "You're awfully cute! Y' know that?" You had a closed-eye smile on your face as you looked in the boy's direction. He looked at you and then smiled with his bright teeth at the compliment, making you adore him even more. It honestly felt like your heart was melting.
Gon - "Gee thanks! Nobody's ever told me that before." He laughed in a happy voice all while you closed your eyes and took a deep breath, in an attempt to speak. You could feel your body melt at every word he spoke, which made you want to keep him as your child.
Y/n - "Well more people should." You said this happily as the boy next to you let another smile show. After this, he turned his head and glanced at Killua. You also looked over at Killua wondering what he was going to say.
Killua - "Hey, how old are you?" Gon's attention was shifted to Killua who was on the other side of him. You deadpanned to how bluntly Killua had asked the question.
Y/n POV - 'He didn't even ask for his name. Well, then again, he didn't ask me for my name first either....' You thought this while Killua had asked the rather odd question. But all you did was look at Gon, waiting for his answer.
Gon - " 12 years old. " Gon said to the white-haired boy. Killua stayed quiet and just looked at Gon while skating.
Y/n POV - 'Probably thinking about how they're the same age or something...' You thought this to yourself as you looked back and forth between the boys. Soon you saw Gon smile, and Killua did some sort of kickflip which sent the board flying in the air. You both awed at the sight of it and Killua caught the board with no effort at all.
Y/n - " Oooooh." You said this happily as you watched Killua catch the board in mid-air. You clapped smally while chuckling in amusement.
Killua - "I think I'll run for a little while."
Gon - "Woah! Cool!" Gon laughed a bit as he moved closer to Killua. You followed behind him and made your way next to Gon's open side.
Killua - "My names Killua "
Gon - "Hi! I'm Gon!" They both introduced themselves and turned to face you, hinting that they were wanting to know your name. Understanding what they meant you smiled and happily introduced yourself.
Y/n - "The names y/n! " You smiled with a large grin while making finger guns with your hands. Shooting them at the two boys next to you.
Gon - "How old are you y/n?" The boy questioned you while he faced you. Your eyes met his while your eyes glowed with delight.
Y/n - "Oh I'm 15." You responded happily with a small grin on your face.
Gon - "Really? You look like your 12 as well. But I guess you do look older!" He said this while smiling and sort of laughing, rubbing the back of his neck. Your eyebrows scrunched up as you turned your head away. Your face pouted as your roller skates continued to move. Killua deadpanned and looked over at you.
Killua - "I already told her that and that was her reaction before." He said this while continuing to run next to Gon. They continued to talk as you felt hurt at the statement, refusing to talk to the two boys.

Okay, that wasn't entirely true... You eventually caved in and started to join their conversations. I mean, someone like you couldn't afford to not talk to other people next to you. The man in the blue suit was beginning to slow down as you all ran and chatted with one another. He was hunched over and was exhaling rapidly. All three of you turned to face the man right at the sound of his briefcase dropping, which echoed throughout the long hallway. In an effort to catch his breath, he was bent over. You along with Gon and Killua all came to a stop and waited for the man.
Killua - " Hey, forget about him. You got to keep mov-" Grinning happily, you swiftly got away from the two boys before either of them could say a word. Skating quickly towards the man, your arms and legs moved in complete sync. Allowing your hair to fly back behind your head, you approached him from the side and squatted down to the ground allowing you skates to roll. You carefully touched the cold ground with your hand, allowing you to hold yourself in place. Keeping your hand still on the cold ground, you moved your legs in a chop-like pattern against the solid ground. Allowing the skates to spark slightly due to the friction it caused. After turning completely around the man, you raised your hand off the ground and came up to him from behind. Keeping your arm in the air, you hit a tender area of his neck before quickly bringing it back again. You heard the man gasp a little and straighten up, all while you grinned at your work. Letting out a breath you didn't know you kept in, you slowed your momentum down. You easily, skated back to the two boys, who watched you in admiration. While approaching them, they remained silent and just gave you their undivided attention. You smiled proudly at them as you slowly rolled up towards the two boys, bringing a finger up to your mouth, hinting for them to stay silent. You winked before turning around so you were facing the suited man, keeping the large grin on your face.
Leorio - "Ahh screw this!" Suddenly the man stood up straight with a newfound energy and sprinted at full speed, allowing him to pass the three of you, leaving his briefcase behind. He screamed, 'I'm becoming a hunter no matter what' as he passed all of you. You giggled as you watched him run and catch up to the group.
Quickly, Gon pulled out his fishing rod and swung it towards the briefcase. The end latched onto the briefcase as he pulled it towards himself. He caught the briefcase in his hand as Killua and you looked at the rod then back at Gon in amazement.
Killua - "That was awesome!" Killua exclaimed this and you all ran, or in your case skated, back to the group of people.
Killua - "Can I try that later?"
Y/n - "Me too!"
Gon - "Sure! If I can try your skateboard and roller skates!"
You three continued to run together until you caught up to the group. You laughed while the two boys grinned cheekily, making your way back towards the front.

Sweat began to drip slowly down your forehead, as this place was starting to get too hot for your liking. Let's just say that the large amount of body heat and the unfiltered room, brought along some heat problems. However, (making this all way too worse) you began to see stairs in the distance. You let out a sigh, annoyed that you would have to stop using your skates.
Gon- "What's wrong y/n?" The young boy took you by surprise, forcing you to face his direction. You chuckled nervously, while rubbing your neck lightly.
Y/n - "Oh it's nothing really... I just have to take my skates off. " You stated this with an emotionless expression as you quickly looked down at your skates.
Killua - "How are you going to do that? Cause I'm not waiting ag- " Before he could finish his sentence you clicked your heels twice allowing a small click to be heard. The wheels on your skates disappeared as you hopped and started running beside the boys. You smiled while they both sweat dropped as you looked over at the both of them.
Y/n - " What?" You asked them this as your eyes stared at them. You didn't fully understand why they were making that face, but the two boys decided not to say anything. They could tell by the look you were giving them that it might not be the smartest idea to tell you what's wrong. But to you, it was your resting face. You just smiled so much that your resting face may have been seen as more malicious. So, Killua decided to change the subject, realizing that he wanted a question answered that had been on his mind for quite some time.
Killua - " Why do you always keep cutting me off? " Killua asked you this while glaring at you with a cat like face. Apparently, he didn't like you doing that.
Y/n - "You're going to have to get used to it. I've been told I have that problem. " you added this speaking in an almost sarcastic tone. However, Killua didn't look too convinced that was actually true, but he chose not to say anything and let out a sigh. You focused back onto the running portion, realizing that you were now running up the stairs which in your opinion was easier. You also noticed that Mr. Satotz had sped up. Once again. (No shocker there) Which in all honesty, You didn't mind the change, but you could tell a lot of people were getting tired.
Killua - "Anyways, I've got a great idea! Let's all race to the finish and see who's faster." The white-haired boy broke the silence between the three of you as he spoke.
Y/n - "Sounds fine by me. But there has to be something at stake."
Gon - "Sure, how about the loser buys dinner!"
Y/n - "Yes!!"
Killua - "Yea! You're on!"
The Three of You - "Ready.... Go!" When the three of you exclaimed this you all ran faster, allowing you to run past the other participants. The three of you never brought your pace down as you all ran together.
After a bit of running, you noticed the sweaty man from before and the other boy Gon had come in with. He had blonde hair, and he was wearing a cream-colored shirt and pants. He also had a bag across his body. The sweaty man also now had his shirt off and around his waist. He had also put his tie around his neck.
Y/n POV - ' Eww gross...And how is his badge staying on his chest? ' You thought this to yourself as you stuck your tongue out. You somehow also ended up next to the two of them.
Gon - "See Ya at the finish line!"
Killua - "Yeah catch you later old man!" You giggled at what Killua said and looked over at the man. He looked pissed.
You decided not to say anything as you looked at the boy next to him. You scanned over his features starting from his feet. When you got up to his eyes your stomach started to churn. Your eyebrows scrunched as you stared into the blonde boy's eyes. There was something off about them. Like there was something he was hiding. It was an odd feeling that didn't sit right inside your stomach. Like his eyes were blurred or hidden. Thye had no life to them, and it was like his story was almost hidden.
However, that feeling didn't last long. He ended up catching you staring at him and looking right at you. You jumped and quickly looked away, slightly embarrassed by the sudden eye contact. Your face contained a small, embarrassed blush all while slapping your hand against your cheeks. But you quickly snapped out of it as your hearing perked up. You began to listen in on what the sweaty man was talking about, allowing your head to turn and face him.
Leorio - "... Can't you tell I'm a teenager just like you!"
Everyone became silent as these words slipped out of the sweaty man's mouth. Only stares could be seen as you all were in utter shock that this man just said he was a... teenager.
Y/n - "There's no way..." you whispered this under your breath as you brought a finger up to your chin. You knew everyone was thinking the same thing. You got another good look at him before the three of you just sped up and left him in your dust.
Leorio - "Hey! don't just leave and not say anything!"
You turned your head around and waved to the two boys as you all left. As you went on your way you could see more and more people dropping out. Many bodies were laying out on the stairs as the three of you ran. Forcing you to move out of the way or dodge them. Mr. Satotz was still not in sight, but you could tell you were getting closer.
Killua - "Well I've got to tell you guys, I'm pretty impressed that you two could keep up with me."
Gon - "You are? Hahahaha," you noticed that Gon didn't understand the real meaning behind what Killua had just said.
Y/n - "Is that supposed to be a compliment?" You muttered this to yourself as you ran beside the two boys. Nobody heard you so your question was left unanswered.
Killua - "Or maybe... they're all just so slow that you two just seem fast." He leaned his head down and you decided it would be best to just not respond.
Killua - "Man... I thought the hunter exam was going to be more of a challenge... this is boring."
Y/n - "Tell me about it." You answered without really thinking as you kept up with the two boys.
Gon - "Hey... why do you two want to be hunters anyway?"
Killua - "Who me? I never said I wanted to be a hunter. I just heard the exam was supposed to be super hard. It sounded kind of fun so here I am. But it's not as fun as I thought. "
Gon - "Hmmm. What about you Y/n." Gon turned to you and cocked his head slightly to the side. You glanced at the boy, smiled, then swiftly looked forward.
Y/n - "Well, I also have no real interest in becoming a hunter. I'm just kind of in it for the thrills. I heard from my brother that it would be a challenge. I mean he took it last year but didn't pass so if he couldn't pass then it will definitely be a good challenge. But so far though this is nothing. He even told me he would be here too, but I haven't seen him yet." The boy nodded in response and began to talk to the white-haired boy next to him. Instead of joining them you stayed silent and tilted your head to the side. You brought a finger up to your mouth and began to do what you did best. Think, wondering where your brother was. He did tell you that he was also going to be here after all. That was the main reason why you wanted to do it in the first place. I mean sure he wasn't always the best brother, but you still cared about him. But you should have seen him already and you knew that he wouldn't have already gotten out in this first phase. However, you soon shrugged it off and turned to Gon.
As you looked at Gon, you saw him looking at you. His eyes held much interest as he examined you and your posture. You flinched slightly before you could feel your face heating up in embarrassment. You quickly took note that his conversation with Killua had ended, so you decided to break the awkwardness and ask Gon the same thing he had asked you.
Y/n - "How about you Gon?"
Killua - "Oh Yea, why do you want to be a hunter?"
Gon - "Well the thing is... my dad's a hunter! So, I decided I was going to be a hunter just like him no matter what!" He spoke in a determined voice as he explained his reasoning.
Killua - "Hmmm... so what kind of hunter is he?" Killua questioned while facing the young boy.
Gon- "No idea."
Killua - "What?"
Y/n - "Huh? What are you talking ab- '' Before you could finish your sentence Killua decided to cut you off.
Killua - "Hahahaha it's the weirdest thing I've ever heard! You want to be the same kind of hunter as your dad, but you don't know anything about him? That's nuts!" You looked at the white-haired boy before turning to Gon. He was chuckling slightly while rubbing the side of his head. You stared at him for a few seconds before it all finally clicked into place.
Y/n POV - 'Oh so that's what he is trying to find....' You smiled at the young boy and had a slight suspicion.
Y/n - "I'm assuming though that's not the only thing you're wondering though. Is it Gon?" He widened his eyes to your statement and looked at you sort of amazed.
Gon - "Wow how'd you know!" He smiled at you while his eyes were glowing with excitement.
Y/n - "A hunch I guess." You scratched the back of your neck as you blushed a bit from his cute reaction.
Gon - "Anyways... Mito's the one who raised me, and she told me a little, but I've only ever seen him in pictures she's showed me from a long time ago. "
Killua - "Wait, so who's Mito?"
Gon - "She's, my aunt!"
Gon- "she said that my dad took the hunter exam when he was only 12 years old too! He passed his first try and became a hunter. That's when he decided to leave the island. So, I came here in order to find out why he chose being a hunter instead of staying at home with me!" The enthusiastic boy smiled and never lost his charm as he spoke. Honestly you envied him. He acted like nothing was wrong and everything was normal.
Y/n POV - 'That must have been tough for him...I wonder how he gets through it.' you thought this to yourself as you looked up in front of you. There you suddenly saw a bright light that blinded you for a second. You smiled knowing what this meant. Soon a smug look appeared on your face as you looked at the two boys next to you. They returned the smile and you all sped up trying to be the first ones to finish.
As you all got to the end of the tunnel you three simultaneously crossed the finish line.
The Three of You - "Goal!" You all yelled this as Mr. Satotz looked at the three of you.
Gon - "Yeah I did it, I finished first!"
Y/n - "No it was obviously me! "You flicked Gon in the forehead and glared at him.
Killua - "What are you two talking about? I totally won!" You swung your head to face Killua, also glaring at him.
Gon - "Huh? no, I won." Gon said this while holding his forehead.
Y/n - "Ugh you boys are so dumb. I got here first." you said this while rolling your eyes and with your hands on your hips.
Killua - "I won."
Gon - "I was faster than the both of you though. So, you both have to buy me dinner."
Y/n - "What? No, you're both buying me dinner because I was the fastest."
Killua - "No way, I was the fastest, so you guys are buying me dinner!"
Gon - "Nuh-uh. I was faster!" Gon then looked over at Mr. Satotz, along with the two of you.
Gon - "Hey, which one of us was fastest?"
Satotz - "You three crossed the finish line simultaneously."
Gon - "Okay..."
Y/n - "So then I buy Killua's dinner, Killua buys Gon's dinner, and .... Gon buys my dinner!" You put your hands on your hips when you finished speaking, proud of what you just figured out. Mr. Satoz just stared at the three of you as you all spoke to each other.
Killua - "I don't get it." Killua looked at you deadpanning in confusion.
Y/n - "What's there not to get?" You asked this to Killua while Gon was asking Mr. Satotz about the second phase.
Killua just shrugged it off and turned to Mr. Satotz, wondering more about what his answer would be.
Mr. Satotz - "No it isn't, we have quite a way to go." he said this with an emotionless expression on his face.
Gon - " Awww man...."
