❝ Liking strawberries runs in the family ❞

"We're here!" Y/n excitedly looks out at the window as the car stopped beside a familiar yellow looking house. Her legs started kicking as she couldn't contain her excitment.
Ayami couldn't help but laugh at her daughter's eagerness and turned her head around to look at her. "Well someone seems very excited." she mused.
"Mommmm, can't we please go now? I want to go see Grandma and Grandpa." Y/n whines. Her mother chuckles once more and nods her head. "Alright alright, I'm coming." she said, removing her seatbelt before getting out of the car.
She walked over to her daughter's side door of the car and opened it. She started helping her daughter out of her car seat and carried her out of the car.
"There we go."
As soon as she places her down, the little girl immediately bolted towards the brown colored door. She shook her head in amusement and took her daughter's bag and closed the car door behind her.
The front door of the Furukawa household opened to reveal Ayami's father.
"Ah there are my two girls," His face brightens up at the sight, opening the door widely.
Y/n couldn't contain herself and immediately pulled the old man in a hug. "Grandpa!"
"Oh, Y/n!" The old man crouched down and hugged her. "I'm so glad you came to visit us!" He added, nuzzling his cheek against her small head while she giggled in response.
"Honey, Ayami and Y/n are here!" Haruki announces, placing both of his hands under his grandaughter's armpit and carried her in his arms一 ignoring the slight back pain that he gained from doing that action.
"Hey Dad," Ayami smiled at the two, planting a small kiss on her father's cheek.
"Hello sweetheart, it is so nice to see you again. Why don't you come in? Your mother is making some pie's in kitchen." Her father told her
"No it's alright. I won't stay for too long, I still got some paperwork that needed to be done at the hospital. Besides, I'm just dropping Y/n here and check upon you two." She replied, watching as his father placed Y/n down as she wanted to greet her grandmother, who emegered from the kitchen wearing a pink frilly apron towards the front door of the house.
"Oh I hope you're not leaving without saying a hello to your mother." Himari jokingly said, hugging Y/n by her side.
Ayami laughs at this, shaking her head in response. "Of course not mom." she said, moving forward to bring her mother into a hug, squishing Y/n in the middle. The two felt a soft slap by their waist and quickly looked down to see Y/n breathing heavily. "Time out. I-I-I can't breath in there." She dramatically said as she pushes the two away.
Himari couldn't help but squish her granddaughter's soft cheeks and planted a bunch of kisses around her face. "You are so cute! I miss you so much!" She giggled before turning her attention back to her daughter.
"Now, if your not staying that long then why don't I pack you some pie for you to take to your work and home, hmm? I'm sure Kei would also love to have some after a long day of practice." she suggested.
Ayami thought for a minute before shrugging, "Alright, I'll help you with it then." she replied.
Himari smiled and clasped both of her hands together, "Oh how wonderful! In the meantime, Y/n why don't you play with grandpa? I'm sure you've got lots of stories to tell him." she said, staring down lovingly at her granddaughter.
Y/n's eyes brighten at the sudden suggestion and nods. "Oh grandpaaaa!" She immediately bolted her way outside to search for her grandfather.
"Be careful!" Ayami worriedly told her, her eyes trailing after her daughter's form. She could hear a faint "Yes mommy" reply to her, which she smiled in amusement and relief.
Himari turns back to her daughter a smiled, "Come on now, let's take this oppurtunity to have a little chat and have some mother and daughter bonding moment一 we need a lot of catching up to do!" she said grabbing onto her daughter's hand and dragging her towards the kitchen.
Y/n puffs out her cheeks as she jumps down the steps from the front door. She lets out a hum as she turned her head towards her Grandfather, who was tending at his mini garden. She immediately went towards him, "Boo!" she screams, hugging his back.
Haruki merely glanced down, feigning surprise at the sight of his granddaughter. "You scared me!" he fake gasped, placing a hand on his chest. He then smiled and ruffled her hair.
"Hehe" Y/n nuzzles her head towards his hand before blinking her eyes and curiously looking at her grandfather's garden. "What chu doing, grandpa?"
Haruki smiled down at the curious child, "Oh I'm just plucking out some of fresh strawberries that needs harvesting. We need more supplies for the bakery."
"Oooh oooh are you going to make a strawberry shortcake?!" she exclaims, only screaming after when he nods in excitement. The two deeply share a love for strawberry shortcake like the rest of the family.
"Here一" Haruki twisted his body and handed her a freshly picked strawberry. Y/n gave him a quiet 'thank you' before shoving the whole strawberry in her mouth. The old man leaned back in surprise, "Y/n sweetheart! You're going to choke!一"
The little girl swallowed the strawberry after thoroughly chewing on it and licked her small pinkish lips after. She lets out a hum, "That was one good strawberry... Can I have some more, Grandpa?" she looked at her with her eyes sparkling.
Haruki blinked before letting out a fatherly laugh and patted her blonde head, "You can have as many as you can." he reassured her. She will definitely love staying her for the summer.

"Be a good girl for grandma and grandpa , okay? Don't cause anymore trouble一 and don't forget to do your summer homework!" Y/n's mother fussed over her daughter, double checking if she had everything she needed.
Y/n lets out a deadpanned expression as she listens to her mother's reminders for the nth time. "I already get it mom."
"You don't have to worry mom, I'll be fine. I promise." She reassured her mother, interally sighing when she saw her mother stopped fussing over her.
Ayako lets out a sigh as a small smile lifts up her lips. She could really see the resemblance betweem Kei and Y/n with their deadpanned expressions. She lifts up a careful hand and placed it on her daughter's soft cheeks一 brushing it with her thumbs ever so often. Her eyes trailed over her face, trying to memorize every single detail of it. She could feel her emotions started to rise up but she holds it in. She smiled softly, "Alright sweetie. I'll count you on that. I'll be calling you every morning and night.." she said.
Y/n smiled, showing off her dimples. "Okay, I love you mom. I'm going to miss you."
Ayako smiled and bringing her daughter into her arms and hugged her gently. "I love you too my sweet peanut." she said before planting a kiss on her forhead.
Y/n moves back beside her grandparents as she watches her mother wave before driving away from the house. As her mother's car fades away from her view, her small smile slowly falls into a frown as her eyes displayed the sadness that she was trying to hide from her mother.
The grandparents look down to their youngest grandchild, sensing the sadness waves forming around her. The grandmother, Himari, crouches down slightly to her granddaughter and takes her small hands to hers. "I believe I still have some slices of strawberry shortcake left in the fridge."
"You have?" The little girl looks up curiously at her grandmother. The white haired woman gave her a close eyed smile and nods, "Yes, you can have it if you want."
"Really?"
"Really." She reassured.
Y/n lets out a shriek of surprise when she felt herself get picked up. "Come on munchkin, let's not waste time. The cake is waiting for us!" Haruki exclaimed, ignoring the aching pain from his knee arthritis as he carried her inside the house.
Y/n lets out a bright smile and yelled, "Lezgo!"

Hey? I'm back? HAHAHA I believe everyone deserved an explanation from me. I've been gone half of the year and I've not published a single chapter from my two published books. And the reason for that is because I already started College. College isn't for the weak I'm telling you— especially if it's Nursing. I apologize for being inactive and I'll try my very best to give you the deserved book entertainment that you guys need. This book has always been my comfort place, which is why I would always come back to it no matter what season it is.
