The glass windows, the glass walls. You could see so far, yet feel so trapped.
The shimmering golden hinges of the glass doors awaited their use. They had never been opened. The sturdy brass doorknob wondered why it existed. It wondered why it had been created. Was it all for naught? Was the poor doorknob's destiny to become a mere decoration? An exhibit in a museum for all to see? Or was it supposed to just wait, building up potential energy, to be opened? To see the other side of the door. Were the hinges waiting to bend and stretch for the first time in what seemed like centuries?
Outside of this dreary, cold, and dark room, green hills with cherry blossom trees bloomed. It was such a great contrast compared to the empty room. Despite being filled with light from outside, the room never shined. It was just dull. Boring. Sad. Unused. With no purpose. Pitied. Ignored. Why did no one enter the room?
People did. They just never came out.
