The wolf turned, spotted the female human walking slowly up the far side of knoll about one hundred feet away.
Tilting its head, it regarded the woman; confused at a strange new feeling it had no memory of ever feeling before.
Humans were normally the source of disquiet, of trepidation. The instinct to create distance between itself and a human typically kicked in at the sight or smell of one of them.
But this time it was different.
This time there was a familiarity of the scent with a striking earthy/musky wood base note to it.
There was something about this particular human that brought a pack-like familiarity with it.
Intrigued, the wolf slowly crept toward her.
