Oakley POV:
When I wake up my feet are wet. Why are they wet? I open my eyes. During the storm last night the stream must have flooded coming all the way up into the cave. I panic for a second and turn to wake Felix but he's gone. A wave of panic washes over me but it quickly fades when I see his blonde curls poke up from under the water. I chuckle and walk to the edge of the stream.
"Enjoying yourself there?" I smile at him. He emerges from the water wearing only his pants. He wears a huge smile on your face. He walks up to me and wraps his soggy arms around me. I freeze up trying to avoid getting wet.
"I am very much enjoying myself."
"Ok, good for you. Now release me before I get soaked."
"Ok." He scoops me up and carries me into the water. I sooch up his arms higher to avoid getting wet.
"Put. Me. Down." I give him a look. He smiles even wider.
"Ok." He then releases his arms from under me and before I know it I hit the cold water. I come up and shriek, whipping the water from my eyes.
"You little bitch." I laugh and lunge at him. I threw myself at him and we're shoved underwater. Felix is much stronger than me so he quickly pulls us to the surface. He holds me in the air before dropping me again. I resurface and immerse myself in giggles. I wrap my arms around him. The waters only up to our waists. Well my waist.
"I just realised something." Felix's voice is light, and kinda sad sounding.
"Ya? What's that?" I look up into his eyes.
"Only one of us is going to leave alive."
"Yeah. I hope it's you. You deserve it. You've been training your whole life for this." I smile.
"Well it wouldn't be the same knowing you're dead." Felix looks down at our linked hands.
"I'd be ok. I'll make the sun sets extra pretty just for you." I feel a tear roll down my cheek.
"Hey, Don't cry." He wipes the tear with his thumb then presses his lips to mine. His kiss is soft and sweet.
"I love you." I smile up at him.
"I love you too." He smiles.
"Good, but I'm freezing, let's get out of here."
"Yes." We climb out of the water and wrap our sleeping bags around us. We quickly dry off the best that we can and then separate to find some food in the forest.

"Felix!" I yell into the forest, an hour ago we separated to find food. I'm on my way back to our cave.
"Oakley!?" his voice answers, it's distant though.
"Felix!" I smile and yell again.
"Oakley!" His voice is slightly louder now.
"Felix!" I yell again. My heart flutters.
"Oakley!" I can hear the smirk on his face. Just as he yells that I'm knocked over. I land on my back hard. My head throbs. I open my eyes to see the face of the boy from 8.
"FELIX!!" I scream and throw my body weight over and up so I roll on top of him. I jump off of him and run as fast as I can in the general direction of the cave. I can hear his footsteps behind me.
"FELIX!!" I scream again.
"OAKLEY!!" His voice is much louder now. Another person jumps out of the bushes in front of me, Hudson, at first I'm thankful, he can help me with the person gaining on me. The boy from 8 stops behind me.
"Ah, there you are Hudson, though I was gonna have to do it myself." Hudson looks at him.
"No. That won't be necessary." Hudson walks to him. They trade looks and the boy from 8 hands him a long knife. My heart races. Hudson lunges at me. I dodge any significant blows but his knife digs into my leg. I scream in agony.
"OAKLEY!!" Felix's voice is much closer now, and there's another voice.
"I'M COMING!!" Athena.
"Why are you doing this to me!" I yell at him.
"You left me to die!" His voice is filled with a hatred I didn't know he had in him. Felix runs into the clearing with a panicked look on his face.
"I didn't leave you!"
"That's exactly what you did!" He lunges at me again, I swing my axe and hit his arm. "ARG!!" he screams, clutching his wrist.
"You had this coming!"
"What!"
"You started to hate me! For no reason!"
"SO it's my fault for thinking that we would be allies!" Athena comes into the clearing. He lunges at me and the knife penetrates my stomach. I gasp at the pain and stumble back.
"NOO!!" Felix's voice is so pained he lunges at Hudson and I can hear his neck snap. I fall to the ground. Lights dot the corner of my eyes. Athena rushes to my side.
"Oakley! Oakley, it's me!"
"Athena." I cringe in pain.
"Shh, Shh. It's ok! I promise, you're going to be ok!"
"Is he dead?" I ask her.
"Hudson? Yeah, yeah he's dead!"
"Oh."
"Just hold on a little longer! Please, you're going to be fine. FELIX!"
"Shit." Felix's voice sounds.
"Hi." I look at him, tears starting to fill my eyes.
"Hey, you're ok, right? She's gonna be ok? Right?" Felix asks Athena.
"I- it's hard to tell." Athena's voice is pained.
"You have to make sure she's ok! It's a knife wound! You know how to deal with those!" Felix's voice sounds angry and panicked.
"I know basic knife wounds! I've never been stabbed before!"
"Guys." I give them a look, begging them to stop. "There's nothing you can do." I'm slowly starting to lose my vision.
"No, there has to be something!" Felix is begging me, I shake my head. The tears roll down my cheeks. I reach for his hand.
"Hey, stay with me." He kneels over me. Athena on the other side of me.
"Don't leave us, please." Athena cries.
"Ha ha ha ha." A voice laughs behind us.
Felix's POV
Before I can react Athena jumps up. She's never really been a person who likes to show their emotions. Oakley's hand squeezes mine tightly, as if she's afraid to let go.
"Look, you and I both know that this is it for me." tears pour from her eyes, they threaten to leave mine as well. "But you have to promise me you won't give up. I know you. And I know that if you were in my position I would have the hardest time keeping my strength. But you have to promise me."
"I promise you." I feel a tear slowly roll down my cheek. I try to hide it but she spots it.
"Hey, don't cry." She reaches for my cheek to wipe the tears away. Her hand is gentle on my face as it always has been. She lowers her hand down as the light drains from her eyes. The tears pour from my eyes now. I kiss her hand and close her eyes. The cannon booms, she's gone, and I couldn't save her. I'm blinded by rage, a power inside of me I didn't know I had. With Hudson already killed I turn to see Athena and the boy fighting. I run towards Athena and the boy from 8 fighting in the distance I shove past Athena, pushing her aside. I walk up to the boy from 8 and pick him up. I shove him roughly against a tree.
"YOU AND THAT FUCKING LITTLE SHIT KILLED HER!!" I scream at the him. "I'M GONNA FUCKING KILL YOU!!" I smack his face until it's bright red. He just smirks which infuriates me even more. I smack him again and again. "HOW COULD YOU KILL HER, SHE WAS SO INNOCENT!"
"Not like you haven't killed innocent people." He grunts in pain and shoves me off of him. I topple to the ground, him on top of me. He holds me there and presses his arm against my neck. Choking me, I wrap my hands around his arm and twist myself so I'm on top of him. He has a stab wound in his gut. Too bad it didn't kill him. I grab my machete preparing to slice him open, though before I do that he shoves a wicked punch at me. It hits me hard in the stomach and sends me cowering back against a tree, fighting to regain my breath. The boy stands up and stalks towards me, knife in his hand.
"You and your girlfriend can have fun banging in hell." He chucks the knife towards me. It hits me right in my chest. I collapse to the ground, screaming in pain. My life flashes before me, memories from home, my brothers, Lillian, The Reaping, Growing up in the lowest part of 1, all the girls who would give me looks, my mothers arms wrapped around me. It's all flooding back. Then Oakley appears, in my eyes. She smiles at me and holds out her hand, I close my eyes and let my chest rise and fall for the last time...
