sapnap had never left his house so fast.
there's something unsettling about the first time your unofficial-boyfriend's sister messages you reading, "hi, i know this is weird but is there any chance you could come round to talk? it's fine if not."
it was a hard conversation for both sapnap, and alyssa.
sapnap quietly made his way up to punz's room, pushing the door open to see punz sitting cross-legged on his bed, staring blankly at the wall.
"hey," sapnap greeted, voice hardly above a whisper. he wasn't sure about boundaries so he stayed stood awkwardly in the doorframe.
"hi," the blond replied emotionlessly, gaze not faltering from the wall.
"alyssa said you wanted me over," sapnap started, clearing his throat, "she told me what's up." punz didn't offer so much as a single word, nodding weakly in response. "do you want to talk about it?"
punz shook his head, finally looking at the ravenette. "i don't wanna scare you away," he whispered.
"you could never," sapnap quickly assured, testing the water and stepping closer to the bed. punz just shrugged, his bottom lip slipping between his teeth. "is there anything i can do to help you?" the younger boy asked.
"dream normally just cuddles with me," punz answered, but sapnap could tell it was a shy request.
the ravenette smiled. "i can do that," he nodded, shuffling towards the bed and sitting down beside the blond.
punz practically collapsed onto the shorter boy, both boys falling back against the pillow. punz felt the dams break and couldn't hold back his tears as they cascaded down onto the other's shirt.
sapnap ran his fingers through the blonde's hair, gently shushing him. "you're okay, love," he comforted him, pulling punz closer and wrapping his arms securely around him.
"i'm sorry," punz apologised through tears, "i would've messaged dream but he's out with george. i just didn't want to be alone."
"you don't have to apologise," sapnap dismissed, pressing a kiss to the blonde's wet cheek, "i honestly don't mind, i'm happy you wanted me here."
punz nuzzled his head against the ravenette's chest, zoning his attention to sapnap's rapidly beating heart as he whispered, "thank you."
sapnap kissed his cheek again, the blond pulling away momentarily to meet him for a proper kiss before falling back down on top of him.
sapnap was too scared to move in case he woke up the blond, so he had no way of telling the time, but he assumed punz had been asleep for an hour before his grandma walked in.
sapnap hadn't spoken to puffy a lot by himself, but they'd had a few passing conversations and spoken within a group before (plus, he had known her since he was a child), so they were acquainted enough for it to not be awkward when she walked in on him in bed with punz.
"how is he?" the older woman asked quietly, nodding towards the sleeping blond.
"he's okay," sapnap smiled, unintentionally holding him slightly tighter.
"he'll be fine tomorrow," puffy assured, "he's always better once he's slept it off."
sapnap simply nodded, looking down at punz. he wasn't sure if this was a feeling someone could just sleep off, it must be constantly in the back of his mind. still, he just stayed quiet - he wasn't going to argue with punz's nan.
"so you two are like... a thing now," she smirked.
sapnap could feel the heat rising to his cheeks. "uh yeah, we are."
"you make him very happy," she smiled.
"oh um, i'm glad," he replied awkwardly, trying to push down the butterflies swelling up in his stomach.
"he gets so excited talking about you," cara added.
"i get excited talking about him too," sapnap admitted, wondering if his heavy heartbeat would be loud enough to wake up the blond - he wouldn't be surprised.
"so are you dating yet?" puffy asked excitedly, receiving a small head shake from the ravenette. she tutted, "he'll have to get on that soon then."
"yeah," sapnap laughed awkwardly, "probably."
"well, i'll leave you two to rest," she finished, flashing sapnap one last smile before slipping back out the room.
sapnap didn't realise he'd fallen asleep until he woke up.
he shuffled in the bed slightly, worrying when he realised punz was no longer laying against him. sapnap sat up quickly, looking around the room just as punz stepped out of the bathroom. he relaxed back into the covers.
"i'm sorry about last night," punz spoke quietly, crawling back into bed beside the ravenette and snaking his hand under the blanket to squeeze sapnap's thigh.
"please don't apologise," sapnap replied, bringing up a hand to brush punz's hair behind his ear. "how do you feel now?"
punz leaned forward, bringing sapnap into a kiss and smiling against his lips. they hardly pulled away, lips still brushing together as punz replied, "better now." they shared another quick peck before properly pulling apart.
"do you still feel up to having lunch with my dads or would you rather stay here and cuddle all day?" sapnap asked carefully, "because either's fine with me and they wouldn't mind."
"i still wanna come to yours for lunch," punz nodded, pulling sapnap to lay on top of him. "but i do think we should definitely cuddle for as long as possible until it becomes socially unacceptable," he suggested, squeezing his arms around the ravenette.
"agreed," sapnap replied, voice muffled against the blonde's bare chest.
and that's what they did. though apparently 'socially acceptable' isn't all that long because, within an hour, they were disturbed.
sapnap had his head pressed under punz's chin, facing sideways so he could see his phone. punz had his arms around the ravenette's waist, joined together at the back where he held his phone against the ravenette's bare back - he wasn't sure when but, at some point during the night, sapnap's shirt had found its way off his body.
alyssa walked in (without knocking - much to punz annoyance), her eyes widening at the scene. "oh, hi sap," she greeted, "i didn't know you were still here."
sapnap just smiled in response, pulling away so he was beside punz rather than on top of him. he couldn't help but worry that walking into two shirtless men lying on each other might be suggestive of something that hadn't happened.
"i was just coming to say that i'm taking your car out," she told punz, receiving a half-hearted thumbs up from the blond. "also, aren't you guys meant to be at sapnap's in like twenty minutes?"
sapnap looked down at his phone, groaning, "yeah, we are." he pushed himself out of bed, punz following.
alyssa laughed, rolling her eyes at the pair and leaving them to get dressed.
sapnap's mind was short-circuiting as he got dressed into punz clothes (it short-circuited even further when punz didn't leave to change).
they made their way towards sapnap's house, the ravenette stopping them just outside. "i'm sorry about how weird this is, by the way," he apologised, shuffling awkwardly.
"it's not weird," punz denied.
"it is a bit," sapnap argued, "as soon as they found out i liked you they wanted you to come around for food, even though they know we aren't together."
"it's not weird at all, sap," he assured, taking sapnap's shaky hands into his own, "i'm probably just as excited as they are, honestly." sapnap laughed, anxious energy leaving his body as he smiled at the other. "plus, we basically are dating," he added.
sapnap shrugged, and punz couldn't help but notice how his smile faltered. "yeah but like, not officially."
before punz could reply, the door was pulled open behind them.
"i hate to break up the moment," skeppy grinned, "but i put effort into the shepherd's pie and it's going to go cold."
sapnap dropped punz's hands, laughing with a playful eye roll before stepping into the house.
bad walked out from the dining room as punz shut the door. "oh look, they finally decided to come in," he joked.
"me and bad were just the same when we were together," sapnap's dad laughed, "didn't care about anything except being together."
"dad," sapnap scolded quietly, "i already told you we aren't together."
"is punz here?" ella shouted, appearing at the top of the stairs with a wide smile, "oh my god, hey."
"e, you said you'd stay in your room, remember?" sapnap glared, earning a cheeky grin before they disappeared back down the hall.
lunch was fine. it went well as a whole, but there were just a few moments where sapnap's dad thought it would be hilarious to embarrass him. though, they seemed to really like punz, so sapnap wore a smile as they made their way up to his room.
"can we go out for a joint?" punz asked as sapnap flopped onto the bed.
"you can smoke in here as long as you open the window and put a sock on the smoke detector," sapnap shrugged, knowing full well that his dads wouldn't be interrupting them again that evening - they promised to give him space, and they weren't the kind of people who broke promises.
punz nodded, preparing the room (including some steps sapnap didn't say, like putting a blanket at the gap under the door and lighting a candle) before crawling under the covers with the ravenette.
they shuffled around to get comfortable, eventually ending up with punz sitting against the headboard and sapnap laying down between his legs.
punz offered sapnap a hit of his joint. "nah i'm good," he declined, "i would but i don't want to move."
punz hummed in understanding, taking a hit himself before wrapping a firm hand around sapnap's neck, cranking his head back to shotgun the smoke.
sapnap took it happily, holding back an ungodly noise when the smoke got replaced with punz's tongue and they started making out.
it wasn't shy in the slightest, all tongue and teeth, and sapnap drunk up every second of it. it was by far the best kiss he'd ever had, whining pathetically and chasing the blonde's mouth as he pulled away.
"fucking hell," sapnap spoke breathlessly, still bending his neck as to not breaking eye contact with the blond, "that was so fucking hot."
"you think?" punz laughed.
"no seriously," sapnap started, pulling the blanket higher up over him, "i'm half hard."
punz giggled at sapnap's lack of discretion before humming, "i'm guessing now's a bad time to ask you to be my boyfriend then?"
"it would certainly be an interesting story to tell our kids," sapnap joked.
"is that a yes then?"
"of course it is," sapnap smiled.
"you wanna add to the story?" punz asked suggestively, earning a small smirk from the ravenette.
"depends," sapnap shrugged, praying to all things good that his blush wasn't too extreme, "what do you have in mind?"
punz sat up, moving sapnap with him as the blanket dropped to a pile around their thighs. "nothing that's gonna happen with you sat on my lap like this, that's for sure."
punz had never seen sapnap move so fast, shifting immediately to be sat opposite the blond.
punz smiled at his boyfriend's shy expression.
maybe it was too early to call it love, sure, but seeing sapnap sat opposite him in bed with rosy cheeks and excited eyes made it difficult not to.
punz shifted forward, bringing his hands up to sapnap's shoulders and pushing him back against the bed, slowly crawling over him. he dipped down, pressing an intimate kiss onto his lips. sapnap brought his grip up to punz's hair, trying to deepen the kiss before punz pulled away, looking down at him seriously. "promise you'll tell me if you want me to stop?"
sapnap blinked up at him, seemingly trying to bring himself back out of the moment. "i promise," he assured, sealing it with a kiss.
punz sat back, sitting down on sapnap's thighs and leaving feather-light touches along the ravenette's body as his hands trailed down to the younger boy's belt.
