Fishing was supposed to be a hobby that’s relaxing and cultivating.
So many fishing enthusiasts enjoyed this activity because they were able to appreciate being in the great outdoors and be mesmerized by the delightful scenery. Getting away from the rat race in the cities, they would spread the net or drop the hook, and then sit down quietly. That’s the kind of joy that only those who participate in this activity could appreciate.
Let it be him, Mr. Gu Chengyi or the few other older gentlemen here with exemplary status, they all enjoyed this particular hobby.
Yet…
It was almost unimaginable that at this picturesque, close to the nature area by the lake, with everyone sitting around quietly and focusing on the kind of struggling that was occurring below the calm surface, a nice and delectable aroma came at them with the gentle breeze.
The smoke coming from the meat on the barbeque grill looked like a thick and forceful stroke in an otherwise very gentle ink painting. It’s uniquely domineering and seducing desire crawled into all the fishing enthusiasts’ noses and continued to make its way downward…
Lu Xun looked at the others sitting around. The older men might looked calm on the outside, but their gulping throats had given them away.
He chuckled to himself before turning to look at her again.
This Miss Lin was quite interesting. Grilling here so matter-of-factly and had no idea what that was doing to the others around her.
He thought about it for a bit, then finally got up and walked over to her.
The meats on the grill continued to make the sizzling sound, a drop of grease slowly dripping down along a juicy looking piece of meat.
Walking over there and taking in a full breath of the aroma, the hungry worms were stirring in his stomach.
Lin Yiyi was pretty speechless right now. At first she just ignored him and sprinkled some cumin and some hot pepper powder onto the meat skewers….
The entire time, Mr. Lu just stood there with his hands behind his back and a smile on his face. He neither rushed her nor showed any signs of being impatient, just kept on staring at the freshly cooked skewers in her hand.
Lin Yiyi: “……”
She wasn’t aware that he was a foodie.
“So is it ready?” asked Lu Xun immediately, a warm smile spread over his noble face.
Before Lin Yiyi had even spoken, Gu Chengyi walked over with a water bucket and asked the same question,” Are they ready to be eaten yet?”
Her mannerism was much different when it came to talking to her stepdad. Harrumphing through her nose, she said, “Not yet. That’s all the meat that we have. Little Yuran is still prepping the rest. Dad, where’s the fish that I’ve asked for?”
Preparing the fish that came straight from the lake on the scene must taste even better than the fish that one could buy at the market!
Mr. Gu gestured with the bucket and said to her, “Oh, all here. There’s more than 10 of them. Take your time… um, let us know when you are done.”
He looked a bit embarrassed.
He had, after all, tried to stop her and her son before they left to come here, saying how nobody brought barbeque with them on a fishing trip, etc. etc….
It hasn’t even been that long before he was slapping his own face.

Baffled, she looked up first at her stepdad, then looked passed him to those behind him and saw all the other old men sitting around the lake.
Noticing her looking at them, all the old men started waving at her excitedly.
No wonder her stepdad was able to bring her a dozen or so fish. She almost thought that her stepdad has some superpower or something, but turned out his fishing buddies had sent him over on a mission.
