Chapter 13
LAUREN'S POV
As we walked towards the cafeteria, Roxie and Meshie began asking questions.
"So, what were you whispering about earlier, Denise, Lauren?"
"Um... it's, uh..."
I felt awkward and couldn't answer properly. Denise stepped in.
"Oh, you mean earlier?"
"Yeah, who was it?" Roxie teased, poking my side.
"Lauren used to have a crush on Calix, the one Axson was looking for," Denise spilled the beans.
"Ohhh, really? Aww, how cute!" Roxie exclaimed teasingly.
"Even you, Meshie?" I asked, feeling embarrassed.
"Haha, you still have a crush on him?" Meshie teased.
"Not anymore," I quickly replied.
"Really?"
Finally, we reached the cafeteria and found some vacant seats since only the Grade 11 and 12 students were having lunch.
We sat near the wall at a table with an empty seat.
"I'll go order, so what do you guys want?" Roxie asked.
"Adobo, one and a half rice, iced tea, and blueberry pie for me," Meshie requested.
"Spicy chicken, two pieces, one rice, pineapple juice, and a slice of blueberry cheesecake for me," Denise ordered.
"For me, two pieces of spicy chicken wings, one rice, Coke, tempura shrimp, and strawberry muffins," I said.
"Okay," Roxie acknowledged before heading to the counter.
While waiting for her, I noticed Calix and Axson entering the cafeteria, accompanied by three others. They approached our direction, and for some reason, I felt nervous as they got closer.
I was taken aback when they sat at the vacant table near us, causing me to avert my gaze.
"Bro, that's the one I asked about earlier," Axson mentioned.
I heard him speaking to Calix, so I glanced in their direction.They seemed engaged in conversation, and Calix remained silent, perhaps waiting for something.
Soon, Roxie returned with two cafeteria staff carrying our orders.
"Please place them on the table," Roxie instructed, and they complied.
"Thank you," Roxie said as they left.
We said a prayer before starting our meal.
