Chapter 11
LAUREN'S POV
After getting ready, I headed downstairs and saw Roxie already in her uniform, putting on her black shoes in the living room.
I went to the kitchen and found Denise and Meshie already in their uniforms, preparing our breakfast.
Fried eggs, fried rice, hotdogs, bacon, sandwiches, and milk.
"Lauren, call Roxie, let's eat," Meshie instructed.
"Roxie, let's eat!" I shouted to Roxie.
"Okay, I'm coming!" she shouted back.
Roxie approached, and we both sat down while Denise prepared our plates, and Meshie took her seat as well.
We prayed before eating, then dug into our breakfast. After finishing, we cleaned up the table.
Heading downstairs at 8:09, we made our way to our classroom for Humms 1.
Once we found the door labeled 'Humms 1', the four of us entered.
"Let's sit here, Meshie, Denise, and Lauren," Roxie directed.
We went to the seats near the window, where Roxie sat, but I ended up at the end of our row.
So, this was our seating arrangement:
Window - Roxie - Denise - Meshie - Me - vacant seat
The classroom was already noisy with many students. Suddenly, a guy in a hoodie entered, and I couldn't see his face.
I was surprised when he sat beside me. Wow, he smelled so good. I found myself inhaling his scent unconsciously. Startled, I quickly looked away as he leaned down on his table, perhaps to take a nap.
Embarrassed, I shifted my gaze elsewhere, hoping he hadn't noticed me because I couldn't see his face. Only his lips were visible, his eyes hidden.
Soon, our teacher arrived.
"Okay class, Good Morning! Let's start with introductions, okay? We'll start with the one nearest to the window."
Oh no, Roxie was first. She stood up from her seat.
"Good morning, everyone. My name is Roxie Vivian Smith."
"Okay Roxie, next!"
"I'm Denise Allison Cruz."
"Okay, next."
"Yushima Lorene Takiyama, ma'am."
"Okay, so I guess you're Japanese?"
"Yes, ma'am, half."
"Okay, next."
It was my turn to stand up.
"Lauren Mariss Santiago."
"Okay, next!"
"Calix Spencer Alfonso."
Wait, did I hear him correctly? Calix?!
