Maris POV
I've been sitting on the bench for the last 30 minutes waiting for Channelle. I hissed for the umpteenth time.
"I'm sure your anger can boil beans, right now" Tina sat on the bench
"Oh yes, it can! Where do you even think she went to?"
"Have you checked her class?"
"Not really"
"Come on, I think you should " She stood up, offering her hand to me "Let's go to her class"
"I'm going to kill her" I muttered
"Hey, Maris! Tina!" Cynthia waved at us,
We waved back.
"Where are you off too?" She asked, walking toward us.
"Well, Maris here is in search of her sister "Channelle" Tami explained
"Where have you guys been!!?"
"Decided to visit the Library" I answered
"No wonder, the news hardly gets to the Library"
"What news?" I asked
"Well, Senior Jayden was seen dragging Senior Channelle towards the gate in a hurry. As some students said, "To go and love where enemies like Senior Vanessa would not disturb them"
"Why didn't she tell me!!" I groaned
"Who are you compared to her Lover" Cynthia ridiculed
"I'm her sister dumb wit, her one and only sister!" I flicked Cynthia's forehead, she staggered
"Well, thank God she chose Senior Jayden and thank God you two get along well," Cynthia said
Tami squealed, gripping my hands tightly in the process, I tried to wiggle free but I couldn't.
"We are gonna be in-laws!!" She screamed. High-fiving Cynthia who screamed with her.
"Calm your horses would you," I told them
"We don't have a horse and we are not horses" Cynthia whispered in my ear
I pushed her head aside " my sister doesn't like Jayden"
"Says who!?" Cynthia asked stunned
"Says me and Channelle" I replied
"Story for the gods"
"That's not my business, all I know is that I'm shipping their relationship and we are in-laws" Tina high-fived Cynthia again.
"Hey, Maris!" Senior Lami called
We ran to meet her " Good afternoon Senior Lami"
"Wassup! Hope you haven't been looking for Channelle?"
"I was but I've been informed of her whereabouts"
"Okay. She texted me"
"Her phone has been switched off, I've been trying it!" I explained to Lami
"Yeah, I think she just turned it on.
She left a message for you" Lami brought out her phone.
She wanted to read it out but she got distracted by Senior Jimmy who was calling her to hurry up. So she left the phone with me, telling me to bring it to her class after I've finished with it.
People like Cynthia that doesn't use their eyes to see a phone quickly dragged us to the Garden. So that we could take pictures and make videos.
"Let's make videos already," Cynthia said, immediately we sat down on the grass.
"Calm down, let's check the message first."
"No, if we check the message first, Maris may not be happy and we won't be able to make videos" Cynthia explained
"Let's check the message first, then we would make videos. Don't worry, I won't get jealous" I grinned at them
"If you say so." Cynthia lay on the grass. "Check her imessage"
"My sister doesn't use her imessage. The only messages you would see are from MTN. Even if she's about dying she would use Whatsapp not minding if you are online or not" I explained
"Oya check fast fast, let's make videos" Cynthia rushed
Tina laughed " you're acting like you don't have a phone"
"It's not compared to using somebody else's phone, especially when it's a senior. Ah, I wished it was Senior Jayden or Senior Jason. No, Senior Jayden is more friendly. See your sister is lucky. If it was me that Senior Jayden likes, the whole world would hear it. I would be walking in the air, my leg would not even touch the ground" Cynthia blabbed
"Nawa oh" Tina smiled "what makes you think Jason is not friendly?"
"It is because you are their sister na. Have you seen how students pick race when they notice Senior Jason is on duty or when he's at the gate for latecomers?"
Tina laughed loudly.
"You'll just start crying from the main gate" Cynthia went on
"It's a bit strange" I voiced out
"What's strange?" Tina came closer to look at the phone
"Elle didn't send the message on Whatsapp, she sent it through imessage," I said
"I told you to check that app first"
"Yeah but..."
"No buts. Check the message maybe something came up that she couldn't send through WhatsApp" Cynthia concluded
I decided to check her imessage. There it was in its glory
I read it out aloud.
"Wow, I think they are really in love. God when" Cynthia cooed.
Tina chuckled" does your sister type like this?"
I stared at the message very hard. Trying to see if a reason as to why she wrote in abbreviations, would pop up in my face. I think I stared too hard.
"What's wrong?" She nudged me
"Nothing" I smiled
"With that face of yours. I said we should make videos first before checking the message but NO! See as your face looks like a monkey's own" Cynthia blabbed
"My sister doesn't type like this. She hates abbreviations when typing" I replied Tina, ignoring Cynthia who was already fuming.
"There's something more strange and weird than any of this" Cynthia suddenly stood up, pacing to and fro
"Which is?" Tina asked with her eyes following Cynthia
"The fact that Senior Vanessa has not started a show!"
"Maybe she's finally accepting the fact," Tina said
"What fact?"
" That Jayden likes Elle" I replied her
"Hmm"
"Yes. Can we make the videos already?"
We came closer to smile and make funny faces at the camera.

It's time to go home. I walk dejectedly to the car. I think I better get used to this- going home alone since Elle would be no longer around.
"Good afternoon sir," I said to the driver, staring at him from the rear mirror
"Good afternoon Maris, where is your sister?"
"She wouldn't be joining us. She would meet us at home" I rested my head on the window as the car drove out of School.
"Good afternoon Mom" I made for the stairs immediately,
"Hold on" She stood akimbo- hands on the waist. "Good afternoon to you too, where is your sister and why is your face like that?"
"How is my face like?" I didn't wait for a response, I wasn't getting one before. "Channelle left school with her friend, she said she would be back home"
"Which friend?"
"Her friend Mom, her friend Jayden"
"Ohh that boy!"
I rolled my eyes "Yes, that boy"
"Then why are you frowning?"
"Nothing"
"Are you sure?"
"She left a message with Lami" I began, she nods her head for me to continue
"You know how she would never send a message through the messaging app, only using Whatsapp?"
"Yes"
"Well, she sent today's message through the imessage and even in abbreviations!"
"Hmmm. Abbreviations, that's odd."
"Exactly Mom, very odd"
"Maybe she asked Jayden to type the message. When she comes home, we would know what happened. Go freshen up and come down for Lunch"
"Okay Mother" I ran up the stairs, straight to my room.
Opening my door, the first thing I noticed was a wrapped present on my table, it says
From Channelle.
"Hmm, exchanging gifts now ehn." I picked it up and examined it.
Food first before any other thing, I dashed downstairs.
Jayden's POV
I came home to meet Tina squealing in my ear as to how she liked the decision I took in school.
"Geez, Tina. Do you mind calming down for a second" I said
"Okay okay" She sat on the edge of my bed ready to scream again
"What decision?"
"Grabbing Channelle by the hand and running towards the gate to go out to spend some time with her"
"Oh that. Yes," I face palmed myself, " That was what I had in mind-"
Tina screamed again " tell me tell me, how was it?"
"It was cut short"
"What do you mean?"
"When we got to the main gate, she was so pressed that she had to go back to the lavatory, she promised she was going to come back but she never. So I just guessed she didn't want to go out or..."
"Wait, what?!!" She screamed again
"For the last time, if you scream again-"
"We received a text message from her, that Maris shouldn't wait for her and that you would drop her home" Tina explain cutting me off
"Why would she send a message like that if she didn't go out with me?" I asked totally confused
"Maris also mentioned something about Channelle not using her imessage to send messages she uses Whatsapp instead she writing in abbreviations when she dislikes it" She explained further
"I'm confused" I voiced out.
"When Channelle didn't come back to meet you, did you come back to school?"
"No, I couldn't. I just went out with Vanessa"
She glared at me, "Vanessa? I need to call Maris"
She dialled Maris's line, putting it on speaker, she picked
"Hi Maris" Tina spoke first
"Elle isn't home"
We both looked at each other, my mind suddenly went to Mr X.
"Shit!" I cursed
"Is that Jayden?! Is Elle there with you!?" Maris begged,
I could sense her breath a sigh of relief when she heard my voice,
"I would call you back," Tina said goodbye and ended the call.
"What the hell is going on?" We heard Jason ask from the door.
