chris watched as you tossed and turned.
you feel around your side of the bed, anxiously trying to find the purple dinosaur plushie chris gave you an year ago.
"what are you trying to look for?" he laughs.
"nothing—"
chris places the purple dinosaur in your arms.
"found it."
chris had named the plush pebbles, since you guys had your first kiss on a pebble covered parking lot.
you thought it was stupid.
but he thought it was cute.
"you stole him!"
"because you're attached to that thing!"
"just say you're jealous chris." i groaned.
he tucks a strand of your hair behind your ear, and plants a soft kiss on your forehead.
"maybe."
he pulls you closer to him.
"you sound tired. sleep."
you agree, and snuggle right into his chest, hugging the purple dinosaur.
"night.." you murmur, dozing off to sleep.
"hey, babe?"
"hmm.."
"sweet dreams."
chris was never one to go to sleep at 10 pm.
everyday, he'd wait for you to go to sleep, then he'd whisper things into ear.
things he thought you couldn't hear.

you could feel his eyes on you.
"i still remember the exact day we kissed for the first time."
he poked at the plush as you held onto it tightly.
"you were red as hell.. and i probably was too. it was the first time a girl made me so nervous."
you fought the urge to smile as you pretended to sleep.
"you still make me nervous, y/n."
