A month passed since Will's conversation with Elliot. Unfortunately they were still a secret.
To be frank Will didn't mind hiding his relationship. It meant that he could at least pretend he didn't have a boyfriend at school.
Sometimes his relationship felt forced, like Elliot wasn't the person he was meant to be with.
But who else could he have?
"Mike!"
Mike's head shot up, he was asleep during math class
"Wake up! This is not your bedroom"
Mrs. Collins scolded the boy
Mike fisted his hand, and rubbed his left eye mumbling a "sorry".
He had stayed up all night thinking, about someone.
A hand tapped his shoulder, it was boy he recognized, Peter was his name.
He passed him a small note and whispered
"It's from Will"
The boy said, his eyes looked larger than normal due to his glasses
"Thanks"
Mike mumbled opening the note
"Lunch at our spot today?
-Will ☆"
Wow.
A star? Since when did Will sign his notes with a star? It used to be a heart
Mike didn't dwell upon on that matter too long, it didn't matter. At least he was getting notes from Will.
Mike turned around to where Will was seated, he smiled and nodded
After 15 minutes of painful learning, the bell rang.
Mike hated math with a burning passion
He got up from the wooden chair picking up his green binder, pencil, and eraser shoving them in his black 'jansport' backpack
He went over to Will's desk, his shoes tapping on the brown wooden floor.
Will was zipping up his blue pencil case.
Will loved his pens, pencils, and writing supplies.
For Christmas Mike had gotten him a blue pencil case with multiple compartments, so Will could have an easy time fixing his things.
A smile plastered on Mike's pink lips, sometimes he felt like looking at Will was enough to give him loads of energy.
"Took a good nap?"
Will teased his best friend
"Actually, I did thank you for asking, Willy"
The taller boy smirked placing his hand on Will's wooden chair.
The smaller boy shuffled awkwardly in his chair, his cheeks pinking.
"So...you ready?"
Mike asked impatiently, Will was taking forever to put his stuff away
He was organizing each section of the blue pencil case, it didn't help that he had at least 50 pen in that thing.
"Almost"
A minute passed, His stuff was all packed in his backpack.
The boys made their way to the door, saying their goodbyes to the teacher.
Mike looked down at Will, he looked extra pretty today
What could it be?
"Are you wearing lip gloss?"
Mike asked with a grin
Will's cheeks reddened, he self consciously brought his red sleeve to his mouth, wiping the glittery gloss off
"I told Jane it was a bad idea"
"No, no, no! It looks so cute"
Mike protested
"Do you have more?"
"Yeah" Will nodded pulling out the pink tube from his pocket
"Come"
Mike held on to the sleeve of Will's red sweater pulling him to the bathroom
"Do you know how to apply it?"
The dark haired boy questioned
"Not really, Jane did it for me"
"Well, today is your lucky day" Will have Mike a confused look "I've been giving Holly make overs on Saturdays alright?
Will giggled picturing Mike putting make up on his younger sister.
"Can you p-part your lips?"
Mike awkwardly requested
Will parted his lips, his blush more evident.
Mike opened the tube a satisfying 'glick' erupted around the small bathroom
He placed the brush on Will's lower lip, his thumb on Will's chin.
He brought the brush from one side to another, the glittery pink gloss spread around Will's already pink lips. Mike felt himself blushing too, his freckles evident.
"D-do this"
Mike shook of the weird feeling in stomach.
He rubbed his upper lip with his lower lip, showing Will what he had to do
Will did exactly that.
Mike kept his eyes on Will's lips, his whole body grew hot.
And without thinking he started leaning in.
His lips were centimeters away from Will's, so close Will could feel Mike's hitched breath.
The door flew open
Mike quickly backed away his head spinning and his stomach churning.
He didn't know what to feel
Did I just try to kiss him?
To make matters worse, it wasn't any regular old person.
Of course it was fucking Elliot
"Oh hey guys"
Elliot waved at the two flushed teens
"Everything good?"
"Y-yeah"
"You're Mike right?"
Elliot asked the dark haired boy walking closer to him
"Yeah, that's me"
Mike awkwardly answered the taller boy
"Cool"
Elliot flashed a smile
Jesus Christ he was gorgeous
Mike realized
If this was the dude he was going against there was probably no hope for him at all.
And his clothing made him wanna steal every single piece that he had in his closet.
Elliot was dressed in a black t-shirt from a band, half-tucked into his jeans.
A red jacket to top it all off.
Mike looked down at his outfit self-consciously.
Maybe he should stop letting his mom buy his clothes
"We're gonna go eat lunch, see you around"
Will spoke waving at Elliot
"Hold on, you coming to my house later?"
The tall boy asked
"I can't, me and Mike are having a sleep over"
A hesitation was evident in Will's voice, but he didn't really care. He just wanted two days off from their dates.
"Oh...alright" A flash of disappointment flashed across Elliot's face "See you Saturday then-"
"I'm hanging out with Robin and Steve"
"Monday? Or are you staying home?"
A hint of annoyance in his voice
"Yeah, bye"
Will gripped on to Mike's wrist with one of his small, shaking, hands
They walked in the hallways, their footsteps being the only noise in the place.
Everyone had probably left, and gone home.
But today they didn't go home, they planned going to their spot.
A small cafe, in downtown Hawkins.
It was a combination of a library and a cafe, the owner was a sweet old lady.
She used to tell Mike and Will stories about her life before she moved to Hawkins.
She made the best hot chocolate, which she gave out with sweet bread.
Will always remembered that place as the spot were he discovered his love for books, and maybe Mike too.

"Good afternoon, darlings"
Marissa smiled the moment Will and Mike stepped foot in the small establishment
It looked so much prettier than they remembered.
Flowers were placed in every little spot in the room and Gorgeous lively green plants hung from the white ceiling.
Several fairly lights were strung all around the room, giving it a homey feel.
And of course.
The cute and adorable honey furred cat, Eliza.
"Hi Mrs. Herrera"
Will smiled petting the cat
"Oh Will! You grew overnight, dear"
She made her way over to Will, hugging him.
She laughed at the thought of how short Will used to be compared to her, and now he towered over her.
"And you Mike, you look like a movie star" The lady smiled giving Mike one of her warm hugs
"Have you ever considered changing your name to Finn? It seems to fit you"
Mike laughed and shook his head.
They found the closest seats to them.
A pastel green couch near the large window, they sat closely next to each other, their arms touching.
"I'll get you boys your usual stuff"
Marissa smiled not wanting to disrupt the boys
"I'm sorry about earlier"
Mike spoke up his eyes on his lap
"About what?"
With all the commotion Will decided to pretend to forget about the "Almost" kiss
"Never mind..."
Why did Mike feel disappointed?
Maybe he wanted Will to be as caught up on it as he was. He wanted it to matter to Will as much as it did to him.
Sometimes all he wanted to say to Will was
"Come on, say that we'll be together"
Because sometimes at night, it was like million little stars were spelling out Will's name
But he couldn't, Mike just couldn't have Will.
He had Jane, and Will had Elliot
He was untouchable like a distant diamond sky
