Beep. Beep. BeEp. I groan and get out of bed. I get dressed in jeans and a hoodie and go to the bathroom to brush my teeth, do my hair, and put on makeup.
I tiredly walk downstairs and eat breakfast. My dad already left for work, so I have to take the bus to school. I open the pantry and grab a granola bar, then I walk over to the front door to grab my backpack.
It's 7:26. The bus comes at 7:30, so I need to start walking to the stop if I don't want to miss my ride. I lock the front door and walk to the bus stop. The bus pulls up right when I get there.
The doors close behind me, and I take a seat closer to the back. I put my bag next to me and lean against it. I pull out my phone, which greets me with 14 text messages. Damn.

I shove my phone into my back pocket and get off the bus. This school is huge compared to the one near my old house.
I walk into the office, and a woman behind the front desk smiles at me. "Noah Daughtler?" The woman asks. "Yep." She nods and hands me a piece of paper. "This is your schedule. Lillian will take you to your first class." She tells me. "Hey." The pretty redhead says."Hi," "We better get going. It's almost 8:15." I nod and follow her out of the office. "I'm Lillian by the way." She smiles. "Noah," I tell her. "I've never met a girl with that name before. That's super cool."
We walk down the hall to my first class; History. It's not my favorite but then again, I don't really have a favorite subject. School sucks.
"This is it," Lillian says, motioning to a classroom. "Okay, thank you." I smile. "No problem." I watch her disappear down the hall, and then I go into the room. Everyone turns to look at me as I walk in. "You must be Noah!" The teacher says. "Uh..yea." I smile awkwardly. "You can take a seat over there." She points to an empty seat in the back of the class. I walk over to it and sit down.
TIME SKIP
It's finally my last period. I'm so ready for school to be over. I feel my phone vibrate in my pocket. It's Walker, of course.

I turn off my phone and put it back into my pocket. The bell finally rings, and everyone rushes out of the classroom.
TIME SKIP
I shove my backpack onto the floor of the bus in front of my seat and pull out my phone. I sit, scrolling through Instagram until a blonde girl sits down next to me.
"Hey, Is it okay if I sit here? All the other seats are taken." "Yea, that's fine." I smile, scooting over a bit. She smiles back, and we sit in awkward silence.
"I'm Cassidy. Most people call me Cassi, though." She says, trying to start up a conversation. "Nice to meet you. I'm Noah." "You, too. Are you new?" She asks. "Yeah, I just started today. My parents are divorced, and I'm staying with my dad for a while." She nods.
The bus comes to a stop, and Cassi stands up. "See you tomorrow, Noah." "Okay, bye," I say with a small wave. She gets off the bus and walks up her driveway. Then, the bus continues its route.
About a minute later, it's my stop. I grab my backpack and get off. Dad is waiting for me at the door.
"How was your first day?" He asks eagerly. "It was good. I met 2 girls; Cassidy and Lillian. They seem pretty nice." He puts his arm around me, and we walk inside. The screen door slams behind us, startling me. My dad chuckles at my sudden movement. "Well, sounds like you had fun." I scrunch my nose, "I wouldn't call it fun." He laughs, and we walk into the living room. "The neighbors are having a bonfire tonight, and they invited us. Do you want to go? They have a boy your age." My dad says as he sits on the couch. "Why not." I shrug, sitting next to him. "Okay, We'll head over there around 7." I nod and turn on the TV.

I hang up the call and run downstairs. My dad is waiting by the door.
"You ready?" He asks. "Yep!" I skip out the door, and we walk next door. Dad rings the doorbell, and a tall brunette opens the door. We follow her outside to the patio. Their house is big too. And their backyard is even bigger.
A man with dark hair is sitting in front of the fire pit. Next to him is a boy, who I'm guessing is his son. They both get up and walk over to us.
"Dave!" The man grinned, shaking my dad's hand. "And you must be Noah!" He says, looking at me. "Yep." I smile. "This is my son, Shawn." He says, motioning at the boy. He gives me a small wave and smiles. "Why don't you take Noah inside and show her around?" His dad suggests. Shawn nods, and I follow him inside.
