My feet hit the sand. I run to the water of the ocean, my long bronze-colored hair dancing in the sky.
Suki, don't swim in the ocean. It's dangerous!
My mom had warned. But she was not going to control me, never again. I will rebel against her wishes and not live in a cage. My parents expect me to live the best life so I am. No more A+, goody-two-shoes Suki. I'll be who I wanna be now.
My head turned side to side to make sure my parents weren't looking.
I ran into the water in my tangerine-colored polka dot one piece. Going deeper and deeper. A part of myself wanted to run back to the sandy part of the beach and forget all about this. But what was the fun in that?
The water was at my ear level now. I never learned to swim cause my dad called it dangerous. I tried desperately to stay above the water my mind was in full-blown panic mode.
Stupid. Idiot. Mom was right. I thought.
I felt something tug my leg and pull me down. No no no
I tried to gasp for air but all that came in was salty water. My eyes burned from looking underwater; Everything was blurry.
"Where are you from?"
Someone asked, How could they talk underwater clearly? By their voice, it sounded like they were a boy.
"Do you wanna play a game with us?"
A girl asked.
I tried to tell whoever was there that I could not, in fact, breathe.
"You idiots! Obviously, she doesn't want to!" Another boy said
Thank you, but please take me back to the land. My face turned a soft shade of purple.
"Wow! How do you that?" The girl asked. I ignored her, tears filled my eyes, and I was dying. Because of my own stupidity. I tried to get to land but it could not. I was weak and helpless. The first boy yelled at the girl "See! She's crying because of you!"
The second boy's eyes widened "She's a human!!" He screamed in joy.
The girl turned to him "But humans can't breathe underwater."
Suddenly everything went black. The next thing I know I'm on the sand of the beach. My mom ran to me and asked me where I was.
"Oh, I was accidentally fell asleep here!" she lies
"Someone could have kidnapped you Suki! Did that ever cross your mind?"
"I-"
"Going to the beach was a bad idea anyway."
That was a memory of when I was eleven years old. For so long I tried to deny that it had happened, I wished that all that was a dream.
