Hello all! I thank you for all the patience you've all given me throughout my challenging college semester and for supporting the story all this time. With that all being said let's begin volume 3.
It was the day before the Vytal Festival. Your girlfriend Yang had told you to go to bed early because she said there was a special event today for her family and she wanted you to come with her and her sister Ruby.
You awoke to your alarm clock at 4 am. You then got dressed and met up with Yang, Ruby, and their dog Zwei outside your rooms.
Yang: This will be a good chance for you to meet our dad.
Ruby: I'm sure he'll like you y/n.
You laughed a little nervously. You were a little anxious to meet Yang's father.
y/n: I hope so.
Yang: Oh come on babe. I know he'll like you. Don't worry my dad doesn't bite.
You, Yang, and Ruby all made your way to an airship that was prepared by Yang's father to go to the island of Patch where Yang and Ruby's home was. You all boarded the ship and got strapped in.
y/n: So, what is this special event?
Yang: We'll tell you when we get there. It's very special to our family.
You were still curious as to what was supposed to happen today but you decided to trust Yang.
y/n: Alright then.
After about two hours you noticed what you figured to be the island Patch. You saw in the middle of a forested area was a lone cabin.
Ruby: That's our house.
Yang: Our dad built it himself.
y/n: Looks nice.
The airship then landed near the log cabin and outside you saw a blonde man who you figured must have been Yang and Ruby's father. You got a little nervous because you didn't know how protective he might be over Yang.
Yang: Babe. Don't be nervous. I know he'll like you.
Yang looked at you with a reassuring smile. You smiled back.
y/n: Alright.
You all then got off the airship to be greeted by Yang and Ruby's father.
Yang's father: Welcome home girls.
Yang and Ruby's father then turned to you as he scratched his chin curiously.
Yang's father: And who is this?
You were still very nervous about your first impressions.
y/n: Uhhh... I...
Yang then held your hand. You looked at her and she looked at you with a reassuring smile again. You smiled back and turned back to face Yang and Ruby's father.
y/n: My name's y/n. I'm your daughter's boyfriend.
Part of you was expecting Yang's father to get defensive but he instead smiled excitedly and walked up to you.
Yang's father: Well it's good to meet you y/n.
He then offered you a handshake.
Yang's father: My name's Tai Yang. But you can just call me "Tai".
You felt relieved at the fact he was accepting of you as you accepted his handshake.
y/n: Good to meet you too Tai.
Tai: Now then I'm certain you're all hungry from the trip so I'll get started on making all of you breakfast. Come on inside and get comfortable.
You all then walked inside the cabin. Tai began cracking eggs into a pan and Yang decided to show you around her home while Ruby started to play with Zwei. It seemed pretty basic. There were family photos of Yang and Ruby as children playing with a woman who looked almost identical to Ruby but she wore a white hood hanging on the walls. You thought Yang and Ruby looked very cute when they were younger.
y/n: I take it that woman is Ruby's mom?
Yang: Yep that's Summer. Baker of cookies and slayer of monsters. She was a great mom.
You looked at Yang.
y/n: I can see the evidence.
Yang blushed and giggled.
Yang: You dork.
You then heard Tai call for everyone.
Tai: Come and get it!
Tai set up the pancakes eggs and bacon he prepared on the dining room table. You all then sat down at the table. You sat at the table next to Yang and across from her dad Tai. You all began to eat. Soon after beginning to eat Tai began to talk to you some more.
Tai: So y/n? I take it you're planning on being a huntsman?
You swallowed your food before speaking.
y/n: Yeah. I am.
Tai: I'm certain you were probably asked this before but why choose to be a huntsman?
You froze for a moment and Yang held your hand again to comfort you.
y/n: Well... there's a lot of stuff I've done in my past that I'm not proud of. You see I... used to be a member of the White Fang.
You looked to the side nervously as you admitted this to Tai but he didn't seem to care that you were in the White Fang.
y/n: So I wanted to be a huntsman to try and be better. But more than that...
You looked down sadly.
y/n: I wanted to be a huntsman so that I can try and find my brother again. We ended up separating a few years ago because we had... different ideas about how to live our lives.
Tai: I see. I'm certain it must be difficult having to make a decision like that.
You sighed sadly as Tai said this.
y/n: Yeah it was.
Yang tightened her grip on your hand.
Yang: y/n. I know that you can make it up to him. You've never given up on our team. So I know you can show him that you won't give up on your brother.
You looked at Yang again and smiled.
y/n: Thanks, Yang.
Yang smiled back at you. You were both then interrupted by Tai.
Tai: And don't worry about being in the White Fang. You're not the only delinquent here.
Tai pointed at Yang. Yang then looked back at her father with a playful smile.
Yang: Hey!
You turned to look at both of them. Ruby rested her head on her hand as she sighed.
Ruby: Oh here we go.
Tai smiled playfully.
Tai: You don't know how much trouble she got into when she was younger.
Yang: Stop it!
Tai: She used to beat up guys all the time trying to interrogate them.
y/n: She did say she beat up a guy and trashed his bar one time.
Tai chuckled.
Tai: Oh. That's just the tip of the iceberg.
Yang: Oh stop it already!
Tai then started to laugh. After a bit of laughing, he calmed down and began to talk more seriously.
Tai: Well anyway. I should tell you what today is all about anyway.
y/n: Yeah. I've been wondering what today was all about.
Yang: It's Summer's birthday.
y/n: Really?
Ruby: Yeah. We celebrate every year to remember her.
Tai: We go to her grave every year in the morning to talk to her. She really was a good mom to my girls.
Yang looked to you again.
Yang: I'm certain she would love it if you came and talked to her with us.
You smiled at Yang.
y/n: I'd love to speak with her.
Yang smiled back at you.
Yang: Good.
You all then made your way to a nearby cliff that had a lone gravestone with the name Summer Rose engraved on it. Beneath the name was a line that read, "Thus Kindly I Scatter." Yang took a deep breath as she began to talk to the grave.
Yang: Hi mom. It's good to talk to you again. I wanted to introduce you to my boyfriend y/n.
Yang looked up to you and gestured for you to talk as well. You smiled and began to talk knowing it would help Yang.
y/n: Hi Mrs. Rose. It's good to meet you. Your daughter Yang really is an incredible girl.
Yang giggled a bit. You turned your head to look at Yang.
y/n: I wish I had met her a lot sooner.
You turned to look towards Summer's grave again.
y/n: You really did do a great job raising both her and Ruby. I'm lucky just to be able to know them.
Yang side hugged you and began to speak again.
Yang: We're gonna fight together in the Vytal Festival Tournament soon. Wish us, luck mom.
Yang looked down sadly for a moment.
Yang: I miss you.
You hugged Yang back and comforted her.
Yang: Thanks.
Ruby then walked up to both of you.
Ruby: Do you mind if I talk to mom by myself?
Yang turned to look at Ruby with a reassuring smile on her face.
Yang: Of course sis.
You and Yang backed away from Summer's grave so that Ruby could talk with Summer privately.
Yang: She likes to talk to her privately because she's said before that sometimes it feels like she's actually still there sometimes. Sometimes I feel that way too. Summer may not have given birth to me but she still raised me. She was my real mom. I wish we had more time to spend with her. My dad did his best to raise me and Ruby when we lost her. I could tell it was hard for him but he did his best. That's what made him a good father.
You smiled at Yang.
y/n: I can see the evidence.
Yang smiled back at you and hugged you.
Yang: I love you.
It was the first time Yang had said that to you.
y/n: I love you too.
Tai then walked up to all of you.
Tai: Alright. It's time we got you all back to Beacon. You all need to be ready if you're gonna fight in the tournament.
y/n and Yang: Alright.
Yang, Ruby, and you all got back on the airship and made your way back to Beacon to train with your teammates to prepare for the tournament. On your way back however you were still troubled about your brother.
Yang: What's wrong?
y/n: We still don't know where my brother is. He wasn't at that meeting or even at that White Fang hideout.
Yang: Could he be hiding?
You shook your head in disbelief.
y/n: My brother isn't the kind of guy that hides until the right moment, Yang. He's always looked for ways to take action. There's no telling what he might be up to.
Changing perspective to Adam's perspective.
Adam was at the border of Vale with a group of other White Fang members. Behind them were dead border patrol agents. They were planting explosive dust charges at the barriers at the borders.
Adam: Alright that's the last one. Let's get out of here before more show up.
Adam and the other White Fang members all got onto a truck and began to drive off. While in the passenger seat Adam called Cinder using his scroll.
Adam: Charges are planted.
Cinder: About time. Cutting it close, aren't you?
Adam: We had to deal with some patrol agents.
Cinder: Whatever. Just be ready to invade.
Adam: So is it true? Is my brother there?
Cinder: See for yourself. He seems to have grown attached to a particular human here as well.
Cinder then sent Adam a picture of you and Yang together at Beacon as well as some pictures of you fighting grimm during the city breach.
Adam grunted his brother really was in Vale and his brother actually seemed to fall in love with a human.
Adam: So it's true. He really is here.
Cinder: It really is quite a shame isn't it? First, he abandons his own brother and now he runs off with some blondie.
Adam: You're going to keep your end of the deal right?
Cinder: Yes of course. You help us fulfill our plan and I'll make sure you get your brother. Just make sure you actually prove to be usefull.
Adam: Once we do this we will no longer be working together Cinder. Too many members of the White Fang have died because of you.
Cinder: Fine. Fine. It won't matter once we pull things off.
Cinder hung up and the call ended. Adam grunted he was furious with the fact that Cinder's leadership had only led to more of his people dying. But was still forced if it meant Cinder not killing them all herself.
White Fanger Driver: Are we still doing this? That harlot has only been using us for her selfish needs.
Adam: I know. She has. But that's why I'm going in alongside all of you this time.
Adam placed his hand on the shoulder of the diver.
Adam: I'm not leaving any of you out there alone. If things get tough I'm going to be right there and fight through it with all of you. I won't leave anyone out there alone.
Adam then turned to look out the window looking at the town beyond the border.
Adam: Not like my brother.
Hey guys sorry, it took a bit to get Volume 3 going. I was partying with my family to celebrate starting off the summer. I decided to include more of Summer as Yang's mother because I felt like it should have been something that was important to both Ruby and Yang as they were both raised by her.
