The car dropped Amara off where the party had been, there was no one around now, just a few random weapons scattered across on the concrete, she picked up a baseball bat just in case.

She made her way around the building, looking for anyone at this point, but it was quiet besides the sirens in the distance. She slowly turned the corner, finding a car, she watched it run to the side of the building knocking down the glass window.

A gasp left Amara's lips before she inched closer and closer to the scene.

As she got closer she could hear Kate's voice and a deeper man's voice she didn't recognize.

Something took over Amara as she heard the deep laugh from the man, and a loud crash of something hitting the floor in the store.

Amara sneaked behind the huge man walking towards Kate, who was on the floor recovering from the crash. She rushed up behind the man, swinging the bat as hard as she could against his head. Her mouth hung open when he barely flinched, turning towards her.

Kate finally saw who was behind the random hit, her eyes going wide, "Amara! No!"

Amara took another swing at him, trying to help, only ending with herself getting thrown into the broken brick wall and giving Kate just enough time to form a new plan.

Amara's head spun and her whole body ached as she slumped against the floor, adrenaline still pumping through her body as she tried to get up, getting knocked back down by some flying sparks.

After the explosion, Kate rushed to stand up, making her way across the store to Amara, who still laid on the floor, dust on her face, a couple small cuts on her cheek.

"What are you doing here? Are you okay? Why would you do that!" Kate rambled, gently holding her girlfriend's tired face into her hands.

"I just need to catch my breath, I'm okay," Amara forced a smile.

"God, you gave me a heart attack! Never do that again!" Kate snapped at her, eyes analyzing her cuts, "You need a doctor."

"I'm fine," she started to stand up, "They're just a couple cuts," a sharp pain in her core making her suck in a breath.

"Stay here," Kate put her hands on Amara's shoulder as she stood up to go check on her mom, who Amara hadn't seen in the car, and meet the approaching cop cars.

Amara took the time while Kate was gone to slowly stand up, her head pounding from the explosion, ears ringing, her whole body aching, holding a hand to her ribs where the pain was the worst.

Once she made it outside she watched the cops put Eleanor into the back of their cop car.

"What's going on?" Amara's voice was low and broken as she slipped around the hood of the car.

"Uhm, it's a lot to explain," Kate turned to her, slowly putting her arm around Amara's torso to help her walk as she led her back around the building to where she thought Clint would be.

The couple limped around the corner finding Clint sitting on the back of an ambulance truck.

"You two look just great," Clint dryly chuckled looking at the girls.

"This one decided to play hero," Kate lightly patted the girls back as she slipped away to sit next to the older archer, Kate taking a seat to her left.

They waited for someone to come check them out, there were multiple injuries from the earlier  chaos.

Kate didn't care who was looking when she reached for Amara's hand, neither did Amara when she rested her head on her shoulder. They were just happy to have each other.

After a while the two girls got checked out, Amara had three broken ribs, plus a few cuts and bruises on her body and face, topping it off with a minor concussion. Kate walked away with just a few new cuts and bruises plus a sprained wrist, thanks to her new suit.

"Never," Kate looked Amara in the eyes, sitting next to her, "Ever," she brushed the girls hair off her forehead, hand resting on her cheek, "Ever, do that again," she kissed her forehead, Amara's eyes fluttering shut.

"I won't," she softly smiled, "It hurts a lot," she tried to make a joke.

"I'm serious, Mar!"

"I know, I know," Amara smiled, lightly letting her head rest into Kate's hand still on her cheek, her own coming to hold her wrist as she kissed the girl's palm, "I won't, I'll leave the hero duties to you from now on"

"Amara!" a stern voice she knew too well, made the girl sit up pin straight.

"Please tell me that's not..." Amara didn't want to look away from Kate's face. She hoped she was imagining things.

"It is," Kate didn't even need to look to know who it was, her hand dropping from Amara's face.

"Fuck, fuck fuck," Amara's head dropped before forcing a smile and looking over at her parents.

"Where have you been?!" Tracy asked, worry and relief in her voice.

"Uhm," Amara forced herself to stand up.

"What is going on here?" Alexander added, looking between herself and Kate, before Amara could speak.

"I-," she took a couple steps forward.

"Are you two?" her mom gestured to Kate, who just gave a small wave and smile.

"Uh"

"You made your sister lie to us!" Alexander kept going.

"Oh my god! Can I talk?" Amara shouted. Her parents falling silent, shocked by her out burst.

She took a deep breath, "I came back to find Kate, and yes I uhm," she looked back at Kate who gave her a reassuring nod, "Kate's my girlfriend"

"Like girl who is a friend?" Tracy asked.

"No, like we're dating, like I like girls not boys," she spoke timidly, already knowing how her parents felt about the topic.

"No," Alexander shook his head, "No"

"Yes, and I love her, I really really do," she glanced back at Kate, "It's not just a phase or whatever," Amara defended herself and Kate.

"I will not allow that," Tracy said sternly.

"Not allow that? There is no yes or no in this situation, it's who I am," Amara crossed her arms over her chest, standing up a little straighter, the medication from the EMTs kicking in, forcing all the pain away.

"No, if you live under our roof, you're not dating a girl, that's not normal," Alexander stood his ground.

"Then I'm moving out, good luck getting someone to take over your wannabe company," Amara sassed, turning on her heels to walk away.

"You're going to leave your family for some girl?" Tracy questioned.

"Some girl?" Amara turned back to her parents, "She's not just some girl, she's my best friend, she's been there for me through everything! Mom and Thal were gone? Kate was there for me. When you two didn't believe in me she did!"

Kate smiled, the words boosting her confidence a bit. Clint, stood off to the side of the ambulance, shocked by the anger of Amara's words, she had only ever been soft spoken in front of him.

"She," she pointed to the girl behind her, steading her voice, "Is my girlfriend. The women I want to marry. The women I want to start a family with. The women I want to get old with. If you can't accept that, I don't want you in my life."

Amara walked away back to Clint and Kate, both of who were looking at her approvingly.

Her parents were lost for words.

"Think about Thalia," Tracy thought she'd get her back with that one.

"Thal supports us, she's happy for me," Amara smiled, turning on her heels, arms crossed over her chest confidently, "You could learn a lot from her."
