"Pretty we need to talk about your father " Liam said softly as he ran his hands through her naked back satisfied from their passionate lovemaking and obviously in a better mood than the previous hours past , it was already evening the huge golden sun that settled at a close distance to her opened window stood as a spy watching over them casting a bright yellow glow in Iris room.
"I know " she sat up from the bed facing him unashamed of her nakedness "I am sorry for the way I reacted earlier , I just hate it when I keep on finding out things from someone else about you , the secret kills me "
"Is this about the accident"Liam asked
Iris nodded holding his hand " you must had gone through a lot and I was here hating you all the while"
"Life happened to us both pretty" he said kissing her slender hands " that faithful day while leaving for the airport I was so mad at you for not even making an attempt to call me, that driver Akalaka was trying to talk some sense into me about leaving you just like that, he was distracted while giving me relationship advice and all I remembered was seeing a bus making a U-Turn towards us and everything became black"
"I remember waking up in a hospital in France confused and clueless about what was happening, I lost my memory for a while , but you hunted my dreams , I asked mum several times about it but she would react angrily about it , I forgot everything but you stayed in my heart ,you hunted my dreams"

"Your grandmother?" She inquired not certain she was prepared to meet any of the Royal family member except prince Osaze of course.
"We would be out shortly James" he called out to James
"Relax, my Grandmother from my maternal side, I totally forgot her visit was scheduled for today"
"What do we do?" Iris asked panicked she looked a mess thanks to Liam, what would they even think of her if she sees Liam coming out from her bedroom looking like they had just had sex
Liam looked at Iris amused as he couldn't help but smile"what's going on in that little head of yours "
"Your family don't like me"she complained " am scared to go out there"
Liam kissed her lightly "aside my mum am very much certain every other of my family member would accept and appreciate you as my choice and the the future queen of Konga palace"

"Let's get dress, grandmother can be so impatient " he stood up going her a reassuring smile before going into her adjoined bathroom leaving her confused .
Maybe that was when the realisation dawned on her she was in love with a man that was extra ordinarily above her status

Liam was the first to leave the room after dressing up properly enough to present himself to his grandmother , he met her patiently occupied with the 64inches Television watching a soap opera that left her scoffing too loud. Her maids where at an observable distance, they bowed in greetings on sighting him
"Grand mere" he smiled happily going to kiss her cheek"
" Je vois que tu es occupé à faire un autre bébé alors que tu n'as pas fait ce qu'il fallat" she said flatly observing him from head to toe showing her disappointment

She snapped pushing him lightly away as she looked towards the door Liam had come out from

As if on cue Iris quietly opened her bedroom door ,she had rushed in taking a light shower and then changed a presentable blue gown that hid her slightly protruding belly which was slowly growing , her messy hair had been brushed and left to drop freely in her shoulders , she was literally shaking inside as Liam grandmother observed her silently even as she approached the living room
"Grand-mère, s'il te plait, ne te moque pas d'elle"
Liam begged silently as he goes to meet Iris bringing her closely to the elderly woman(Grandma please don't go all wolf on her)
His Grandma scoffed as she stood up to hug her , Shocking Iris also making Liam to chuckle lightly "C'est agréable de rencontrer enfin la femme qui fait vibrer le monde de mes garçons" she smiled warmly patting Iris back

Iris smiled, quaking inside warming up to the old woman but obviously clueless to what she had just said ,French was the last language she ever dreamt of speaking now she regretted not taking her French class during her secondary school days serious
"Elle ne comprend que l'anglais" Liam groaned not wanting Iris to feel uncomfortable (She understands only English)
"Pardon me" His grandmother covered her hands to her lips apologetically smiling as she made Iris to seat beside her "sometimes I forget am not in my country" she explained pushing Liam lightly
"I meant to say , if you are special to my grandson ,then you are special to me and I can't wait to be a great grandmother" she spoke eloquently in foreign English but ecstatic as she looked at Iris
"Its a pleasure to meet you ma" Iris smiled already liking the old woman, Liam was right she needed to relax, she finally let out held breaths allowing her self to relax
"I heard from the palace you had vanishing twin syndrome experience, it must have been so hard on you, am sorry about that"she expressed her concern
" thank you ma"
"Hope the pregnancy is not so hard on you"
Iris flushed as the old woman touched her stomach

"I am surviving it ma"
"Call me Grandma, you are so cute and prettier than any other girl I have seen Williams with " Liam speechless left them to go seat at the other sofa observing them, his presence had been forgotten in the room
He heard Iris chuckle at something she said ,she seemed now relaxed and comfortable with his grandmother, he wished his mother will treat her same way .
"So have you started planning your wedding"
"Wedding !" Iris asked panicked looking from Her to Liam
"Yes wedding...A true Obazee never have a child out of wedlock, William is a crowned Prince and must do you right in the eyes of everyone and Heaven of course" she winked patting her back
Things was just happening too fast ,really too fast for Iris liking .
"You should bring your bride to the palace and Visit your mother more often, she has become too quiet and lonely for my liking and I know its because she misses you" The old woman turned to face Liam
Liam sighed "Am just trying to recharge my battery so I can face her without ending up in a fight"
"Maureen would come around , the cry of a baby in the palace would warm her heart up" she stated smiling at Iris "I know my daughter very well,she is large at heart just too dramatic and possessive of her Son"

Chief Mmadueke Chuck's father sat outside the police reception waiting for his son to be brought out , he don't know how to react to the different emotion that was tugging at his heart , everything was falling apart , he had lost his only daughter and it has reached a point he couldn't save his son anymore from the grip of the law .
Murder was a grave offence and no amount of bribe of pleading or connection would save Chuck's because a lot of police personal was involved in the case .

"Chief" he heard one of the police called him out from his deep thoughts
"Your son has refused to see you, he doesn't wish to see anyone" the man stated
Chief nodded his head expecting it, they had never agreed on anything for a very long time, the constant battle between them had drifted them apart , Grace death was enough to create a rift

"But Detective Chima would like to speak to you at his office"
"Very well then" he stood up, unable to hide his sad expression as he entered the Detective Office

"How many Exams are you writing tomorrow because you seem so relaxed" Liam asked as he entered into Iris bedroom without knocking, she was already preparing to sleep, she had changed from the black gown she had on after dismissing his grandmother into a light simple dress, he noticed most of the cloths she still wear was from the last shopping he did for her, mentally he noted it down to call Osato to stock up her wardrobe at the new house they would be moving in to.
Iris smile arranging the pillows" I have just one GST on English language ,so I have like six hours before the Exam so I can just recap"
"Do you kinda read on pressure because during my time I am already prepared a week ahead before the exams"Liam asked bringing her close to sit on his lap
" in my secondary days, I spend most times in the market with my mother"Iris paused at the thought of her mother "I...I end burning the night candle to pass"
Liam wondered the kind of life she had in the Village, they had never really talked about it "Do you have friends in the village"
"I try as much as possible to avoid people because of their gossips about my family, my mother mostly and my paternity " Iris chuckled"I remember beating up a boy in secondary school for calling me a bastard child " she laughed
"You did that" Liam heart went out to her ,he didn't found her tale funny , she had been true a lot , she had managed to scale through them and still strive to become something meaningful ,he was now eager to spend the rest of his life making it up to her.
"Why are you looking at me like that"she asked hugging him
"Am just proud of you "he kissed her forehead
"But I want you to know a few things that's up, I know you are preparing for Exams but its important you know"
"Nothing else shocks me ,what do you want to say"
"Senator James..that's your father he believes your life is in danger from the hands of his Wife Esomo"
"How? I don't even know her"
"Yes, but she knows you and a lot about you and your family "Liam paused to watch how she processed the information
Iris looked at him strangely wondering how someone she hadn't met could possibly know a lot about her.
" I have to tell you this ,but promise you won't panic or allow it distract you from Exams"
"What ?"she felt her heart pick a beat
" I don't want to keep things from you again ,but you have to promise me first ,you would handle whatever I want to tell you well
"okay..I..I promise " she stuttered as Liam watched her debating how he would make the information easier on her
"We believe that the death of your family was not Ordinary, the senators wife is a prime suspect"
"Who are we?" She ask shaking already as she looked at him ,her demeanor changing slowly
"My uncle Prince Osaze, senator James and I , Osaze called me yesterday ,he informed me that your family death case has been opened for investigation, though I wonder why they are yet to contact or reach you"
"Wait..." She held up her hand looking at him "are you trying to say that fire wasn't an accident ,that someone killed my Grandfather in that gruesome fire ,my mother....and now they are after my life"
"Yes pretty " he replied holding her hands
She bobbed her head in disagreement , not making any effort to deal with the shock "no...no...no "
"Pretty ...Iris you promised"
"What did we do, my grandfather can't even hurt a fly..my..my " Who wanted her and her family dead
She was totally clueless ,she don't even know this Esomo Osazuwa , how could such a person be so heartless to burn her family alive
Nnam died a gruesome death
Her mother died untimely
"Hey...hey whosoever is responsible for this would pay dearly for it, everything would be fine"
"Why is all this happening to me...why Liam"she asked shaking already as tears flowed down her cheeks
Liam sat her properly ,holding her to his chest " we are in this together ...shhhh! Everything would be fine " he whispered softly allowing her to cry as he rocked her in his laps
"It would soon be all over ,trust me my love I gat this "
