DANCE STUDIO

Dancers are preparing to leave after practice, putting their ballet shoes into bags and putting on scarves and jackets.

"No Irina again. Guess she's too famous for us."

"No, she just... "vants to be alone."

The dancers giggle. The door opens and another dancer enters.

"Irina. A little late for practice, no?" She Asks

"Never too late. Practice makes perfect... if you have the talent." Irina Says

The other dancers leave. Irina takes off her street clothes, under which she's wearing a leotard, and puts on her ballet shoes. She stretches, does some exercises at the barre, turns on music and begins to dance. Tchaikovsky's "Swan's Theme" plays
Suddenly she begins to spin faster, then loses her balance and grabs the barre. She is still en pointe and is breathing heavily.

She screams as she is flung backwards and begins to spin again. In the hallway, a janitor is mopping the floor. Irons spins faster and faster. She screams as blood splatters the walls. The janitor comes in to investigate and finds her dead with bloody stumps instead of feet. The janitor crosses himself. Irina's ballet shoes are arranged on the floor in pristine condition.

WALKWAY ALONG RIVER

Dean is on the phone to Frank, The scene alternates between Dean standing on the walkway and Frank in his trailer.

"So, Dick's funding an archaeological dig? Well, unless Dick's actually digging himself, I'm not sure I know what to do with that, Frank. Or the factory in Saudi Arabia, or the fishery in Jakarta. None of this is helping, Frank." Dean Says

"Explain how Western to Southeast Asia is too wide a net. You know, I could be in Tromso right now. Zero Leviathan activity in Tromso." Frank Says

"Where the hell is Tromso?" Dean Asks

"Norway, you moron. By the way, they opened another Biggerson in Butte." Frank Says

"Yeah, well, we're not in Montana." Dean Says

"Oh, you know where Butte is. That's encouraging. So, where are you?" Frank Says

"We're in Oregon." Dean Says

"No. I got nothing in Oregon." Frank Says

"Wisconsin, Frank." Dean Says

"What about it?" Frank Asks

"The coordinates – Bobby's coordinates." Dean Says

"Bobby... Oh! Right. Yeah, no. I got nothing. I got no activity." Frank Says

"Well, work on it." Dean Says

"Hey. When did you become the boss of me? You don't like what I'm doing, you can stick it right up your Montana." Frank Says

"All right, all right, all right. Take it easy, Frank." Dean Says

"Oh, and another thing –" Frank hangs up.

"Frank? Hello? Fr—" Dean Says

Sam and Elena walks up, He's carrying a coffee and a newspaper as Elena drinks some coffee.

"What happened?" Elena Asks

"He's a crazy son of a bitch." Dean Says

"Frank?" Sam Says

"You know, having a cranky total paranoid as your go-to guy – that's – it's... I don't know what it is. What, are you going for, like, the Guinness record of caffeine consumption? That's like your fifth this morning." Dean Says

"Yeah, well, every time I close my eyes, Lucifer is yelling into my head. It's like I let him in once, now I can't get rid of him." Sam Says

"You know he's not actually..." Dean Says

"Yeah. Yeah, no. I know. Uh, try telling that to the volume control inside my brain." Sam Says

"Well, did you try the hand thing?" Elena Asks

"Yeah. Anyway, long as I'm awake, check it out."
He hands Dean the newspaper. "They're saying drugs, but read between the lines. Sounds like she danced her own feet off. Might be our kind of thing." Sam Says

"Dancers. They are toe shoes full of crazy." Dean Says

"You – and you would know this how?" Elena Asks

"I saw "Black Swan." Twice. Hot tutu-on-tutu action? " Sam and Elena looks at Him "Come on, Sam. What's wrong with you?"Dean Says

"Wow. The depths of your – Anyway, it's in Portland, a couple hours away. What do you think?" Sam Asks

"Yeah, dancers. Why not? Maybe you'll get some sleep on the way." Dean Says

"Yeah, maybe." Sam Says

They drive away in a black car that is not the Impala.

PORTLAND POLICE STATION

Sam, Elena and Dean enters the police station.

"So, the usual – no EMF, no sulfur, no hex junk." Elena Says

"If there's no more dancers to interview on this trip, it could be a bust. Although I hear they have good coffee in Portland." Dean Says

"Dude, that's Seattle. Oh, let's just get the drill over with." Sam Says

The Duty Officer behind the desk is talking to another Officer. Dean clears his throat and Sam raises a hand. The Duty Officer raises a hand in acknowledgment, but continues to talk.

"Later." He Says As The Officer leaves.

"Hi." Sam Says

"Yeah?" He Says

"Uh, we'd like to see the crime-scene photos from the Irina Koganzon case, please." Elena Says

"And you would be..." He Says

"Oh." Dean Says

Sam, Elena and Dean show their FBI IDs.

"Give me a minute." He Says

"Take your time." Dean Says

Another Officer is writing on an evidence bag that contains the ballet shoes. He puts the bag down on a table, at which a Young Girl is drawing. She reaches out an arm for the bag.

"No, you can't touch those, honey. Those are for Daddy's work." He Says

"Daddy... I have to go pee." She Says

"Sweetie, you know where the little girls' room is." He Says

The Duty officer gives Dean a case file that contains a crime scene picture of Irina and the ballet shoes.

"Yeah, I'd call that weird." Dean Says

The Young Girl enters the ladies room. The ballet shoes are on the floor. She closes the door behind her and puts one shoe on. It magically resizes to fit her feet.

Elena, Sam and Dean enter the evidence room and show their ID.

"Hey, there. How you doing?" Sam Asks

"Okay. What can I do for you guys?" He Says

"Well, we need to see the shoes that were involved in the ballet dancer's death." Sam Says

"Didn't figure that would be an FBI deal. But sure. Yeah, right here." He turns around and sees that the ballet shoes are no longer on the table. "Damn it, Tracy." He Says

"Who's Tracy?" Dean Asks

"My daughter. She loves ballet." He Says

Dean, Sam and Elena burst into the ladies room. Tracy is sitting on the floor, wearing the ballet shoes.

"Oh No!" Elena Says

"Hey, take those shoes off." Sam Says

Tracy is pulled to her feet by an invisible force, goes up en pointe and begins to spin. Sam grabs Tracy around her middle.

"Dean, get the shoes!" Elena Says

"I'm trying!" Dean Says

Tracys legs flail as Dean tries to grab her feet. She kicks Dean in the head.

"Sorry!" Tracy Says As Dean gets one shoe off.

"Come on, Dean!" Sam Says

"I'm trying!" Dean Says Then Tracy kicks him in the head again.

"Sorry!" Tracy Says

"I got it! I got it." Dean Says

"Uh! Okay. I'm going with cursed object." Sam Says

"You think?!" Elena Says

"You okay?" Sam Asks

"Yeah." Tracy Says

Sam, Elena and Dean leave the ladies room. Sam is carrying the ballet shoes using a pen. A sticker in one of the shoes reads "$15.99 OUT WITH THE OLD".

"Next stop – "Out With The Old". I suppose it's too much to hope that these shoes are the only thing in that store that we have to worry about." Sam Says

"Oh, what a dreamer you are." Dean Says As They leave the police station.

Dean, Elena and Sam pull into a parking spot. Elena notices that the ballet shoes are in the back seat with her.

"No way, Guys?" Elena Says

"What." Sam Says

"Look." Elena Says

"Didn't we put those in the trunk?" Dean Asks

"H-how did they –" Sam Says

"Cursed object, Sam." Dean Says

"Do they... look like they're... your size?" Elena Says

"Shut up." Dean Says

"Wait, a-are you –" Elena Says

"Getting the strong urge to Prince Siegfried myself into oblivion? Yes." Dean Says

"You really did see "Black Swan." Sam Says

A Woman is talking to a man standing in the doorway of a tool shop. Next to her is an Assistant, who is carrying files, a bag and a case.

"Well, it was nice seeing you, Mr. Marshall. Please call me if you have any questions about the offer." She Says

"I'll let you know." Mr.Marshall Says

Mr.Marshall closes the store door and goes inside, the woman and her assistant walks away.

"I don't think he's gonna sell." He Says

"Thinking is not your strong suit, George." She Says

The woman stops at the passenger side and George walks to the driver's side of a car.

"George? The door." She Says

George hurries around to the passenger side, still carrying the files, bag and case, and opens the door.
Then Sam, Elena and Dean cross the street behind the car. Sam is holding the ballet shoes out in front of him. They open the door to an antique store with a "Going Out Of Business Sale" sign on the door.

ANTIQUE STORE

"Hello?" Sam Says

Sam, Elena and Dean enters the antique store, a man is mopping the floor.

"Hey, did you sell these?" Sam Asks

"Uh, yeah." He Says

"Where did you get them?" Sam Asks

"Uh, m-my m-mother had them in that box." He Says

Sam puts the ballet shoes down on a display cabinet and goes to get the box. It is made of wood and has symbols carved into the lid. Dean picks up the ballet shoes and appears transfixed by them.

"I don't understand. What's happening?" He Says

Sam holds out the open box to the Man.

"This, in here?" Sam Says

Elena looks over and notices Dean holding the ballet shoes.

"Hey! Hey, hey, hey!" She pulls the shoes away from Dean and puts them in the box. "Geez! You okay there, Baryshnikov?" Elena Says

"Yeah. Yeah, I'm "pas de done." Dean Says

"Okay, if it's not too much trouble, do you mind telling me, uh, what's – what's going on?" Elena Asks

Sam, Elena and Dean show their FBI ID.

"What's your name?" Sam Asks

"Uh, Scott – uh, Scott Freeman." He Says

"You said these were your mother's? Where'd she get them?" Elena Asks

"I don't know. I found them in the back." Scott Says

"I got it." Dean Says

"Now, where is your mother?" Sam Asks

"Well, she's, uh... She passed away last week." Scott Says

"I'm sorry to hear that. Scott, listen. These shoes..." Sam Says

"Just some personal stuff she collected. I'm trying to get rid of it all." Scott Says

"All? Is there more like this?" Elena Says

Dean walks back into the room holding up empty wooden boxes.

"Sam, Elena." Dean Says

"Scott, what was in those boxes?" Sam Asks

HOUSE

A woman is chopping vegetables. She picks up an apple from a fruit basket and then drops it with a start when an old-fashioned kettle on the stovetop whistles. She walks slowly to the kettle, picks up the metal handle with a bare hand, supports the base of the kettle with her other hand and pours boiling water into her mouth. The water spills over her chin, burning her face.

ANTIQUE STORE

"Okay, what the hell kind of FBI guys are you?" Scott Asks

"The kind that are trying to fix the mess you started. Now where'd your mom get these?" Dean Asks

"I don't know. I found them in her safe." Scott Says

"Did it ever occur to you that these things might be locked in that safe for a reason?" Elena Says

"No, I-I just thought it was some of the junk that she had collected over the years. Like, I knew she was into some weird stuff, but I never thought that she would be, like –" Scott Says

"Yeah, well, think again, okay? 'Cause this "junk" is killing people." Dean Says

"What? Like, how can that be?" Scott Asks

"Look, Scott. We're gonna need to know exactly what you sold out of that safe and names and addresses of who you sold it to." Sam Says

STREET

Sam, Elena and Dean pull up and get out of the car.

"All right, what do we got?" Dean Asks

"She bought a tea kettle." Sam Says

"Tea kettle?" Dean Says

"Yeah. Hey, with enough curse mojo, you can turn a freaking pencil into a weapon of mass destruction." Elena Says

"Good times." Dean Says

HOUSE

Dean, Elena and Sam enter and see the kettle on the ground next to the woman's body. Her face is badly burned. He picks up some rubber gloves and wraps the handle of the kettle with them before picking the kettle up.

"Better call this in." Dean Says

"Hello, yeah. I'd like to report an accident at 23 Gorham Road.My name? Uh... Bruce Hornsby." Sam Says

Sam, Elena and Dean leaves the house, Dean holds the tea kettle with a glove over it.

"All right. Who's next on the list?" Dean Asks

Sam takes a notebook out of his pocket.

"We got a, uh, gramophone sold to Brenda Gluck, 413 River Street, and a vintage gentlemen's magazine sold to Peter Yankit, 27 Johnson Lane." Sam Says

"Really?" Elena Says

"Yeah." Sam Says

"All right, we'd better split up. Why don't you take the gramophone? And Elena and I we'll handle the old rag." Dean Says

"I wouldn't really "handle" it if I were you. Remember those shoes?" Sam Says

"Yeah, how could I forget." He puts the kettle in the back seat of the car. "You know, I wonder how old porn kills you." Dean Says As he hands the rubber gloves to Elena.

"Pretty sure you don't want to know." Elena Says

"Yeah, you're probably right. All right. Let's do this." Dean Says

"Yep." Sam Says

Dean walks to the driver's door of the car, Elena gets in the passenger side as Sam walks away.

HOUSE

A Woman starts the gramophone and smiles at a Young Boy, who is sitting on the sofa using a computer tablet. She picks up a laundry basket.

"I'm gonna run these upstairs. Be right back." She Says

"Mmm." He Says

"Hey, Timmy."

Sam walks along the street. He runs a hand over his face and looks at his notebook. Timmy is playing a game on the tablet as the gramophone music plays.

"Hey, Timmy. Come here. I have a secret for you."

Timmy looks up several times, then at the gramophone.

"Hey, Timmy. Timmy, come here. Timmy."

Timmy walks over to the gramophone and places his ear near the speaker. He listens to the whispered voice and then walks away. Sam walks along the street.

Timmy picks up a large knife. The Woman walks down the stairs and sits down on the sofa with a magazine. Timmy walks towards her, carrying the knife. As he is raising his arm to strike, Sam bursts in, grabs Timmy's arm and takes the knife. The Woman screams.

"Where's the gramophone?" Sam Asks

The woman points and Sam walks over to the gramophone and puts on a rubber glove.

"Hey. That's mine." Timmy Says

"Kid, this would be a really good time for a lesson in gratitude. Lucky for you, I'm too tired." Sam Says

Sam's phone rings and he answers it, Dean and Elena are walking along a street, She's carrying a wooden box.

"Hey." Sam Says

"Hey we got the porn. Just in time, too." Dean Says

"What was he doing?" Sam Asks

"Uh, like you said, you don't want to know. Where you at?" Dean Asks

"I just got the gramophone. I'm across town. I'll head your guys way." Sam Says Then hangs up

Dean opens the trunk, Elena puts the box in the trunk of the car.

"Gross." Elena Says

"I mean he wasn't doing anything." Dean Says

"Like that makes it any better." Elena Says

ANTIQUE STORE

Dean is putting a wooden box into the safe.

"So my mom wasn't just some whack job. All this stuff is real?" Scott Asks

"Yep." Dean Says

"Well, now I-I really feel like crap." Scott Says

"How come?" Elena Asks

"I kept pushing her to sell the store. She kept saying no, and I kept pushing her, you know, telling her how much money she'd make." Scott Says

"You think you changed her mind?" Dean Asks

"I don't know. You know, this real-estate lady kept coming around, and then one day, just like that, mom says okay. Then she had that accident, never even got to enjoy the money." Scott Says

"How soon after?" Elena Asks

"The next day." Scott Says

"The n— How did she die?" Elena Asks

"Car crash. You know, I keep thinking, if I hadn't pushed her, then..." Scott Says

"Hey, a little tip. Uh, feeling guilty ain't gonna bring 'em back." Elena Looks Down "Best you can do is live your life the way that you think would make her proud. Or at least not embarrass the crap out of her." Dean Says As Scott smiles and nods.

"Oh, uh... you know the drill, right? Don't touch anything in those boxes. In fact, don't even go near the safe. Once we get it all boxed up, we'll get a U-Haul and get everything out of here." Elena Says

"Believe me, I – I got it." Scott Says

Dean and Elena nods then leaves, Scott then looks at the safe. Outside the antique shop. He notices the Bicklebee Realty "SOLD" sign, which has a large picture of the Woman who was talking to Mr. Marshall, in the window.

"What Dean?" Elena Says

"Look." Dean Says

They walks along the street, Elena notices that almost every store has the same "SOLD" sign in the window. The name below the Woman's photo is Joyce Bicklebee
