Cleo was trying to clean up her fist tank. She reached in, but accidentally got wet.
"Oh, no, no, no, no, no, no, nooo!" said Cleo
"Cleo? Cleooo! Dad says you have to hurry up if you want a lift to school" said Kim, outside the door
"It's ok, Kim. I'll walk" said Cleo
"You do realize that you could have just used our powers to lift up the water, right?" I asked
Cleo face palmed "I forgot"
I laughed "Don't worry. I've gotcha"
I then slowly used my drying powers to make her tail go away.
"Thanks" she smiled
"Anytime" I said

We were now in Emma's place
"This is a catastrophe of the highest order. Moisturizer is mainly water" said Cleo
"If dolphins can swim for Miles, so can we" said Rikki
"We can't moisturize ever again" said Cleo
"And? Moisturizing only clears the skin. There are some other perfect people who don't moisturize. It's not a big deal" I said
"We could swim all the way to Fiji. Could you imagine that?" asked Rikki
"Our skin will be dry and wrinkly" said Cleo
"No, it won't. We're mermaids now. We're gonna get wet more often as we swim. Our skin will be Perf!" I said
"I missed training today. First time in 6 years" said Emma
"Oh, I'm sorry Emma" I said, she sadly smiled
"See? See how bad this is?" asked Cleo
"Hey, look on the bright side. We could use these powers for kicking butt. Like, if you haven't already, you could wet Zane with water again, and you *Points to Emma* could make yourself a Popsicle from....freaking lemonade, and you...well, we don't really know your power, but you could do pretty cool things as well. And I could could pretty much do anything. But I don't want us to be uneven. So like...don't get me wrong, I'm not the coolest. We're all cool" I said
"You're cool for saying you're not the coolest" said Rikki, I smiled
"We need to tell somebody" said Cleo
"No, we can't. I mean, the next thing you know is some guy torturing you to be their money maker. The only trustworthy person we can tell is Lewis" I said
"Speaking of Lewis, he was researching mermaids today" said Cleo
"Aww, how sweet. He listens to our words" I said
"This isn't about that. We need to get help" said Cleo
"Cleo. We can't tell anyone! Not our parents, not our friends, except if we have known that friend most of our lives. But we can't risk anyone else knowing" I said
"Y/n's right, Cleo. We can't tell anyone" said Emma
"Not even mom?" asked Cleo
"Not even mom" I said
"But I tell mom everything" said Cleo
"Not this time. Trust me, we're gonna find a way to make this fit into our lives, it'll get easier. We all have a way of drying and going back to normal. You can make a water ball of all the water molecules, and hold them up until you're dry, Emma can freeze all the water molecules, and then push them off, and Rikki can....well, we'll find the answer soon" I said
"Fine. I won't tell anyone. Except Lewis" said Cleo, I smiled looking at them
"No, guys. Not Lewis, not anyone" said Rikki, I rolled my eyes
"Ok, ok. Don't worry. I'm really good at keeping secrets" said Cleo, turning her chair around
I sighed, and sat down on the other chair

"Now it's party time, people. No excuses. In honor of our very own surfing God, the beautiful Byron, for winning his special prize" said Miriam, she gets on my nerves. She has tried to be my friend, but always ends up bullying me. I guess she's just jealous. Because she once said "Ok, no. You do not get to be perfect at my favorite place. GET OUT!" like PFFFTTTT AHAHAHAHAHH!
"What prize?" asked Cleo
"Whatever it is they give our for surfing" said Miriam
"You don't even know the meaning to your own party? Oof, that's tough" I said
"Shut up" said Miriam
"Get tired of me telling the truth of humiliating you? Why didn't you say so? I'll stop, if you stop getting on my nerves" I said, she ignored me BAHAHAHHAH!
"The coast surf classic he won by a mile" said Emma
"I was having a spray tan, but I'm sure he was amazing. Rikki, I'm sure I might have a blank" said Miriam
"Sorry, I'll be flossing my teeth that night" said Rikki, LOL!
"Miriam, choose. Zane or Byron? Don't be such a player, I mean, Zane just asked me out last week, and you both get on my nerves, you're perfect" I said
"Whatever. Just take this. You're of course invited, but just don't be mean, and don't ruin anything" she said
"You're usually the one ruining things, like how you spilled coffee on me one day. But ok" I said
Then Lewis came to us "Hey, girls"
"Lewis, hey" I said
"Hey, Lewis. Nothing much has been happening between me. Nothing much at all, just the same old thing" said Cleo, but I touched her arm to say maybe a little too much?
"So, uh, are you guys going to Miriam's party tonight?" asked Lewis
"Of course, we are" I said
"Now don't forget, girls. bring your best bikinis. It's a pool party" said Miriam
"Right, uh, well, seeing as you're going--" said Lewis
"On second though, should we not go, Cleo?" I asked
"Yeah. I changed my mind" said Cleo

"It's so uncool to miss one of Miriam's parties. She won't ask us ever again" said Cleo
"Not asking someone just because they didn't show up? I mean, maybe they don't like swimming. It's so uncool to not ask someone just because they didn't show up one time. And so what? Miriam thinks she's so cool throwing all those parties and being with all those guys. BLEH!" I said
"The girls got some skill" said Rikki
"It's a pool party. I know it's dangerous, but maybe if Y/n and I told Lewis about us he could look out for us" said Cleo
"Agreed" I said
"No. You guys did the right thing. None of us are going" said Rikki
"No, wait. I think we should go. For Byron. Not for Miriam" said Emma
"You like him. Just admit it" I said, Emma blushed
"But yeah. We should go for Byron. Surfing is a sport like swimming. We should celebrate and show him how much everyone cares about him" I said
"Yeah. I want him to know that I especially support him, a lot" said Emma
"You really like Bryon, don't you?" asked Rikki
"Pfft, no way" said Emma
"She likes him" I said, Emma hit my arm
"Anyway If we learn more about what's happening to us, we might be able to control it enough to go to the party" said Emma
"Really?" asked Cleo
"What's to learn? We touch water, and 10 seconds later, we grow tails" said Rikki
"Maybe it's about developing some discipline. Exercising some control" said Emma
"Perfect. That's great. Control. Then we could go to the party. I'll text Lewis" said Cleo
"You do realize you're going to have to swim to test this theory" said Rikki
"What? No way. Forget it" said Cleo, we smiled to each other and went to the ocean

Cleo's head rested on her legs
"Come on. It's not even deep here" said Rikki
"No" said Cleo
"Please, Cleo?" asked Rikki
"No" said Cleo, we stared at her...."No!"
"Fine. Come on, guys" said Emma, as we went into the ocean
"Control and discipline starts with the mind, so concentrate" said Emma
"No tail. No tail. No tail. No tail. No tail. No tail. No tail. No tail. No tail. No tail--" we started, but our tail appeared "No tail" we said, 1 last time before falling
Then we sam Lewis approaching, so we hid our tails behind a rock.
"Who leaked the information? This is my secret, highly classified fishing spot. Someone must have blabbed" said Lewis
"Sorry" said Cleo
"It's fine. Hey, I got your message about going to the party" said Lewis
"Oh. Yeah, that was an old message. I'm not going anymore. Too much homework" said Cleo
"Fine. Well, I might just join you all for a swim then" said Lewis
"We're naked Lewis" said Rikki, Emma and I nodded
"Just a...quick dip then?" asked Lewis, kind of looking at me, I blushed at the idea of swimming naked with Lewis. Like...it's a little inappropriate, but I like him...so...
"Goodbye, Lewis" said Emma
"The offer was there" said Lewis, and left grabbing his stuff

"We're never going to be invited anywhere cool ever again" complained Cleo
"Miriam is only cool because she's pretty. Honestly, she isn't that pretty to me. But the boys think otherwise" I said
"My swimming career is over" said Emma, getting some lemonade, while Cleo got some water, and I got some and I got some chocolate.
"I just have 1 question. Why me? I didn't ask for any of this to happen" said Cleo, getting a ball of water from freaking air, and drinking it
"You think you've got problems. I've been training to become a swimmer since I was 6 months old" said Emma, getting a stick into her lemonade, then freezing it to make it a popsicle
"Well, say goodbye to that dream, because we're mer-freaks now" said Cleo
"We're not freaks. We're not gonna go anywhere cool, so what? We're cool ourselves. I mean, I bet it's a girls everyday dream to be a mermaid. And your career isn't over, Emma. It's better you're a pro swimmer now, and you can show off to...anyone who you might share your secret to, or just some fish in the water" I said, melting my chocolate, then freezing it, and eating it like eating ice.
"You 2 are unbelievable. Look at yourselves. You're drinking water from mid air, Y/n, you just made yourself a little icy pop, just like Emma. Anybody else would LOVE to be able to do that. You've got these amazing powers, and all you do is whinge, whinge, whinge. I don't even have a power. Do you hear me complaining? No. Well, I've had enough. I don't wanna hang out with wingers. Except Y/n, who isn't one" said Rikki
"I mean...is she wrong?" I asked, they shook their heads
"I know how she feels. Sometimes I don't even wanna hang around me" said Cleo
"Don't say that, C. You're always fun to be around" I said
"Thanks" she said

We were now at the cafe, talking to Lewis. Cleo went there, and Cleo and I are like sisters, so I came too.
"Lewis, what do you think of Rikki?" I asked
"You know those stonefish that kind of look like a rock?" asked Lewis, we nodded
"They could shoot enough poison to kill an entire football team in half a second. She kind of reminds me of one of those" said Lewis
"Dang. That hard?" I asked, then Byron entered, and we all clapped
"Thanks, guys" said Byron
"Congrats, Ron" I said
"What's your ranking now? You must be getting up there" said Cleo
"Control yourself" said Zane
"Last time we checked, we weren't talking to you. You should be the one that should control himself" I said, and everyone said "OHHH"
"Hey, Zane. You're dry, that must feel different" said Lewis, I laughed
Then Zane went to whisper something to Lewis, he got offended, and just as Zane was going away, he stood up and grabbed his shoulder
"Let it go, Lewis" said Cleo
"She's right. It's not worth it, mate. And will it change him? No" said Byron
We then went our separate ways, Byron and Zane went away, and we sat down again.
"Byron is such a nice guy" said Cleo
"I know, right?" I asked
"Yeah. Emma's right. We should go to Miriam's party to show some support for him. I mean, what a hero?" asked Cleo
"Guess we'll go" said Lewis
"You think?" I asked
"Yeah. Whatever blows your hair back. Guys, I don't get you. One minute you're going, and then you're not. And now you're going again" said Lewis, about to go away, I banged on the table
"Hey! Cleo is not the best swimmer. There's a reason she's struggling to decide if she wants to go or not. It's not cool to just stand up and leave" I said
"Then why aren't you going? I get Cleo but--" started Lewis
"Maybe I just consider Cleo as my best friend of a sister, so I support her wherever she goes, and keep her company if she doesn't go anywhere" I said
"Ok" said Lewis, putting his hands up for a second, then sat back down, I smiled. I don't like yelling at Lewis, but I just HATE IT when people are unfair.

We were now in Cleo's bathroom, about to test our mermaid things to see if we can dry on time.
"Hey, Miriam. I was just calling to let you know that I'll definitely be at your party. Probably....Well, I just thought I'd let you know. What will I be wearing? Something appropriate" said Cleo, then hung up
I looked at the time "Go"
Cleo let down a bucket full of water on her, then tried to dry as fast as possible.
"10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1" I counted, but it didn't work, she grew a tail. I smacked my head. "Guess there's no going back" I said, as I used my powers to dry her and get her back in her form.

We dressed up tight, as if it was like -8 degrees out, so we don't get wet.
"It's a pool party, remember?" asked Miriam, as she opened the door
"We remember" I said
"It's just, we've got this terrible cold. So we won't be swimming" said Cleo
"At all" I finished
"So, where's Byron?" asked Cleo
"I'm sure he'll be here any minute. Are you guys really keeping that on?" asked Miriam
"Yeah. Looks like it" I said
"You can't be too careful with a cold" said Cleo, then fake sneezed
"Ew" said Miriam
"Gross" said Tiffany
"Cleo, Y/n, I don't think it's a good idea that you're here. Sick people make me feel...sick" said Miriam
"Relax, I don't think we actually have a cold, probably just allergies, but we're just sensitive to the weather" I said
"Yeah, we're fine. Besides, we wouldn't want to miss Byron" said Cleo
"Whatever. Just go outside and don't touch anything" said Miriam
"Ok" we said
"And don't try and drinks" said Miriam
"Fine" we said
"Better yet, just stay away from everybody" said Miriam
"You got it" we said, as we got in
"Losers" I heard Miriam say
"We're not mirrors, sweetie. Go find one" I said, and made Tiffany laugh a little.
As we got out to the pool, Zane saw us "Look who are here. Just when we wanted a bit of fun"
"Watch your step, Zane. Might fall into the water" I said
"Don't be like that, guys. You got a good laugh when I got soaked last week. Now it's your turn" said Zane
"We have allergies. Wouldn't wanna get too close" I said
"Come on. Swim time. You're going in" said Zane
"Don't push it Zane. Not so hot" I said, he ignored me, and started to chant our names, then a lotta guys started to carry me and Cleo, about to drop us into the water
"Do it, guys. I dare you. Drop us hard so we can also get you all soaked" I said
"Ok, soft it is. On three" said Zane, as they counted to 3
"Let them go, Zane!" said Lewis, coming in
"If you insist" said Zane, as they let us drop into the water. That little nutball!
We got back up to the surface "I'm so sorry about this" said Lewis, coming and crouching by us
"Lewis, there's something you should know about us" I said
"No, no. You don't have to say anything" said Lewis
"No, we really do" said Cleo
"You know how we've been acting strange? This is why" I said, as the water started to bubble and our tails appeared
"Lewis, you have to help us" said Cleo, as Lewis backed up
"Lewis, we won't hurt you. We just became what we are last week. Hell, we don't even know how to hurt you" I said
"Please, Lewis" said Cleo, as we put out our hands.....he finally grabbed our hands. We smiled.
Then we saw Rikki and Emma come in. She saw us.
"Sorry, guys. Lewis knows now" I said
"Where is everyone?" asked Rikki
"Inside" I said, so I guess they went to keep them there?
"Can you guys give me a hand? They weight a ton" said Lewis, as they came back
"That's just our tails" I said
"We can't. If we get wet, we'll grow tails too" said Rikki "is that what you want?
"Both of you?" asked Lewis, then looked at us "All of you?" we nodded
"Seriously?" asked Lewis
"Here, I'll try to do something" I said, as I let go of Lewis's hand. I then used both of my hands to move the water as if it was a hill, and froze it, then grabbed his hand again "Now, pull"
He did as I said, and got us out of the pool. I then unfroze the water.
"I should have joined the gym" said Lewis
"What are we going to do here?" asked Cleo
"Get back, Lewis" said Rikki, as she made her way to us, then she put her hand out, and slowly closed into a fist, drying our tail, and getting us to our normal form
"You found your power!" I said, excitedly
"Yeah" she smiled
"I knew you could do it!" I said, high giving her
"Guys, what is going on?" asked Lewis
"We'll explain later, Lewis" said Emma, as we left.

We got out of Miriam's, and were walking through the grass, near the ocean "Hey, Byron!" said Lewis
"Hey, guys!" said Byron
"Why aren't you at the party?" asked Cleo
"Huh?" asked Byron
"The pool party. You know, the one Miriam's throwing for you?" I asked
"Miriam? She's the blond one, right? Parties aren't really my thing. See ya, guys" said Byron, and left, I laughed "Miriam's soooo embarrassed" I said, making them all laugh

We were now sitting on the rocks by the ocean
"This probably goes without saying, but if you tell, we maim you" said Rikki
"I'm not that stupid. If anybody found out, you'd end up as science experiments" said Lewis
"I quit the swim team today" said Emma, I looked at her sadly "Aww, that must be so hard on you. Do you wanna talk about it?"
"No, it's fine. It was for the best. Besides, I've got much more area to swim now" said Emma, I smiled
"This whole thing is just out of control. It's just too big" said Cleo
"Just let me get this straight. You freeze things, you explode things, you boil things, and you do all three" said Lewis, pointing at Emma, then to Cleo, then to Rikki, then to me.
"And you all grow tails. It's just too bizarre" said Lewis
"True. But it's still fun sometimes. I mean, we can swim faster now" I said, they all nodded
"This is all....Totally, absolutely awesome" said Rikki, we all smiled, and looked at the ocean.
