reader uses she/they pronouns and is a goddess
'She's been alive all of this time? Why... why didn't she..?'
You let your gaze drop as anger filled you, causing you to take deep breaths in hopes of calming down. There was a good reason as to why she didn't continue — there had to be. The two of you were in love, surely she wouldn't just forget about you — especially since she decided to sing with you. Her head shifted slightly and you could've sworn she was looking directly at you. You moved to a different tree and her head shifted slightly again, confirming that she could see you.
'I guess this means I should go get answers.'
After taking a deep breath, you floated over to her window and were finally able to get a close look at her. The green eyes that had captivated you from the beginning were now predator gold, sending a shiver down your spine when your [E/C] ones locked with them. You were right about her being around the same height as a god — meaning you wouldn't have to stay confined to human height if the two of you got together again. Alcina slowly lifted a hand to your cheek before freezing, her head quickly turning so she could glance at the door.
You were pulled inside the room in an instant — the window quickly shutting before she called for whoever was on the other side of the door to enter. Three women in black dresses came in with wide, bloody smiles that quickly disappeared upon seeing you. Confusion, anger, and intrigue appeared on the faces of the three respectively. You glanced down at the way Alcina was holding you and you felt heat rush to your cheeks. She easily cradled your human form in one arm, holding you against her chest.
'Okay, maybe being held like this isn't that bad.'
"Mother," The three said in unison, causing your heart to stop immediately. "Who is this?"
'...Mother? Is that why? Is there a...? No. She doesn't swing that way — that much I know.'
"...An old friend of mine." Alcina's answer was like an arrow to your heart, causing you to stare at the wall instead of her or her daughters. "Did you three need something? I'd like to catch up with her."
"...Are you sure she was just a friend?"
"Yeah, you never mentioned anyone that looked like them when you told us stories of your past."
"And you definitely wouldn't keep holding them like that if she was just your friend."
"...Rooms. Now."
You glanced over at the three and noticed faint smirks on their faces before they left, leaving you alone with their mother. Alcina carried you to a bed before setting you down on it, a soft grumble leaving you at how large the bed was compared to your human form. You glanced up at her and noticed the amused look in her eyes — the same look she used to give you whenever someone would openly flirt with her in front of you and you had to try and hide your annoyance.
"Still as adorable as—."
"Shut up." You cut her off with a growl, sending a glare her way. "You had YEARS to do that again and yet you wait until I show up again?! Did what we have mean noth—."
She gripped your neck and effectively cut you off, regret immediately filling her eyes as she released your throat. "...I'm sorry... Force of habit now. Please, let me explain."
"...Go on then. I'm listening."
"Can I hold you while I do so? It's been so long..."
You nodded slowly out of shock, letting her lift you once more before she sat down and placed you in her lap. Memories threatened to flood back once the both of you were situated, reminding you of how badly you missed her — missed being around her and touching her in some capacity. It was obvious she missed those moments too, considering how long she was taking to start her explanation. A nostalgic smile took over her face and she pressed a gentle kiss to your forehead, settling some of the anger that was still bubbling inside of you.
"After we said good-bye, I prayed to mother Miranda. She had approached me a few weeks before then and... She promised immortality. When you told me the only reason the gods wouldn't allow us to be together, I went to her. The day I stopped was the day she gave me the cadou."
"Cadou..." You trailed and wracked your brain for the translation. "...Oh! Gift. That's what she calls it, huh? Immortality is more of a curse."
"That's not all I was given. My daughters were also a gift — all three of them were given the cadou as well."
"But, there are always negatives when mortals turn immortal. What's the negative for you four?"
"...We need flesh and blood to live," Alcina said after a few beats of silence, her eyes shifting away from me. "They can't leave the castle during winter or else they'll die. The sunlight hurts them, but not too much, thankfully."
"That explains why you pulled me inside and shut the window so fast..." You trailed off and pressed a kiss to her cheek, letting her know she can calm down. "I used to party with the god of wine, eating humans and drinking their blood was a necessity for partying with him."
"You never told me that."
"The last time we spoke, you were human. You would've freaked out — they always do."
You watched her lips part for a moment before she shut her mouth, the slight curl of her lips into a smile made your heart skip a beat. She turned her gaze back to you and you let her set you on the ground, letting you silently know what she wanted. You took a few steps back and closed your eyes, taking a deep breath as warmth spread across your body. When your eyes opened again, you were finally in a more comfortable form — no longer confined to human standards for height.
Alcina stood before you and cupped your cheeks, a smirk tugging on the corner of her lips. You knew why she was smirking and you sent her a warning glare — silently telling her to not say anything. Instead of saying that you were still shorter than her, Alcina pulled you in for a tender kiss. The moment her lips were on yours, time seemed to slow down — the only thing that mattered was her and the kiss. Once you processed what was happening, you returned the kiss and ignored the tear that slid down your cheek.
The kiss was broken too soon for your liking, but you said nothing about it and let her wipe away the tear on your cheek. Her eyes were filled with tears and you knew she regretted what she did — when she stopped talking to you — but she also never said why she stopped. You frowned when the thought crossed your mind and pulled away from her, not missing the hurt that flashed in her eyes.
"Why did you stop?"
"...I wasn't sure if you'd hear me after I took the cadou. A week after I received it, I asked you to send me a sign that you could hear me still — I gave you a month and heard nothing back..."
Your eyes widened at that and an annoyed groan left you. "That BASTARD blocked your message. Alci... All this time... Did you really think that—?"
"Of course not." She answered immediately, hesitantly placing a hand on your cheek again. "But after I got my daughters... They became my priority — I never forgot about you, but talking about you hurt too much."
"So, just to clarify, there's never been a—."
"Who do you think I am?"
"Just making sure."
Alcina rolled her eyes before glancing at the door again, piquing your interest and causing you to glance behind you. The buzzing of flies and muffled whispers reached your ears — letting you know all that you needed to know. Her daughters could turn into swarms of flies — it was the only explanation for the loud sound of buzzing — and they were listening in on your conversation.
You moved away from Alcina and opened the door, watching the three tumble into the room. An amused smile took over your face as you stared down at the three — the brunette having landed on top of her sisters. The three scrambled to their feet and sent the two of you innocent smiles after being caught. Your gaze shifted over to Alcina and noticed the amusement and love in her eyes despite the frown on her face.
Her daughters shrunk under her gaze before you started laughing, shocking all four of them. You placed your hands on Alcina's shoulder before resting your head over them, sending a warm smile to her daughters. The buzzing that came from the three afterward let you know that they were more than happy you weren't mad at them for spying — which did nothing but warm your heart.
"Alci, I believe you should tell your daughters the truth." You mused and sent the three a wink. "I have to go to Olympus anyway."
"WHAT?! WHY?!" The four exclaimed in unison, shocking you slightly.
"I have to pack my things, don't I? I swore on the river Styx that if I ever saw your mother again, and she was immortal, I'd never let her escape me again. Breaking a promise you made on the river Styx is a very serious crime."
"Will you be our other mom someday?" The redhead asked and caused Alcina to tense immediately.
"What's your name, little one?"
"D-Daniela..."
"Well, Daniela, I believe that's up to your mother. However, I'd gladly be your second mother if given the chance."
You pressed a kiss to Alcina's cheek and sent her daughters another wink before disappearing, a content sigh leaving you once you reached Olympus and began packing your things. A faint twinkling could be heard behind you before the scent of lavender reached you, the soft hand of Aphrodite grabbed your wrist and caused you to stop, your head turning slightly. Her kaleidoscope eyes sparkled as she spun you around and clasped her hands over yours, a wide grin taking over her face.
"You knew, didn't you?"
"He threatened me not to tell you — I was dying inside watching you all of these years."
"It's her, isn't it?"
"Always has been."
