This chapter will be updated with various helpful books.
For a good introduction to Mahayana Buddhist thinking, in its intersection with clinical psychology and general Western skepticism, I highly recommend The Art Of Happiness by the Dalai Lama and Howard C. Cutler, M.D.
For a wonderful primer on Zen Buddhism, I highly recommend The Heart of the Buddha's Teachings by Thich Nhat Hanh.
For more advanced students, I highly recommend The Diamond Sutra and The Heart Sutra as translated and commented upon by Red Pine.
