I was discharged the next morning. Honey came to walk me back to my cell.
Honey: "Told you you'd be fine."
I gave him a nudge and smiled. We had just left the infirmary when...
Kiji: "I was just coming to see you two."
Alison & Honey: "Kiji, you're back!"
I tried to run to him, but I tripped over myself. Kiji caught me and I hugged him.
Kiji: "I'm glad to see you're doing better, 41."
Alison: "I'm sorry... I'm sorry I got you in trouble."
Kiji: "Tell me you haven't been beating yourself up about that, dear."
Alison: "Mm..."
He put his hand on my head and I looked up into his face.
Kiji: "Go on back to your cell now."
I smiled.
Alison: "Kay!"
Honey: "Come on, you."
I took his hand.
Kiji: "Honey."
Honey: "Yes?"
Kiji: "Alison deserves someone who will love her and keep her safe. Take good care of her."
His eyes widened before he nodded.
Honey: "I promise."
Kiji smiled and kept walking. Honey and I continue on to my cell.
Alison: "What did Kiji mean by that?"
He froze in place. I turned to face him.
Alison: "Hon?"
Honey: "Uh..."
Honey: 'Not here.'
He smiled and, without warning, put his hands behind my knees and picked me up like a koala.
Alison: "Aah! Honey, haha, what are you-?"
Honey: "I can't trust you to walk back to your cell without tripping over yourself every few feet."
Alison: "Hey, I can walk!"
Honey: "It's okay, I've got you."
I giggled as he kept walking.
Alison: "Come on, put me down. This- this isn't funny."
Honey: "Then why are you laughing?"
I admitted defeat and decided to just let him carry me. I rested my cheek on his shoulder and stared at the heart on his neck. Again without warning, he turns his head and kisses my lips. I buried my face in his shoulder as my cheeks turned bright red.
Alison: "Mmmm! Cut that out!"
Honey: "Heh, it's cute when you get flustered like that. Reminds me of when I first met you."
Honey: "Well, you seem cute, for starters."
Alison: "Uh- cute?"
Honey: "Hm, especially when you blush like that."
I turned my head back and poked his cheek.
Alison: "You're such a tease."
I couldn't help but smile though.
Alison: "But I love you."
Honey: "I love you too, beautiful."
He carried me to my cell. He walked through the door, and I got a little fright when he spun me around.
Alison: "Nononono, Honey, don't drop me!"
Honey: "Haha, I'm not gonna drop you."
I clung to him, giggling desperately, but it didn't do any good. He dropped me the short distance onto my bed.
Alison: "AH-!"
I sat up.
Alison: "Heh, you're crazy."
Honey: "I wouldn't be here if I wasn't."
Honey: "So, you're dangerous."
Alison: "I wouldn't be here if I wasn't, sweety."
I laughed reminiscently.
Honey: 'I love your laugh. I'm always trying to make you smile and laugh... because your happiness... it's like sunshine. It's soft, and warm... and it makes me smile too.'
Alison: "Honey?"
Honey: 'I want to see your smile everyday... I'm lost without it... without you.'
His cheeks turned pink.
Honey: "... Uh, sorry. Guess my mind kinda wandered, heh."
Alison: "Honey, is something wrong?"
Alison: 'Please tell me...'
Honey: "Well... that reminds me... you talked to Trois last night."
Alison: "M-mhm..."
He kneeled in front of me.
Honey: "He told me, you've been worried about me."
Alison: "I just-! ...... I just want you to tell me what's been bothering you... I know it's something."
Honey: "Well... there has been a... a little something on my mind."
Honey: 'You can do it...'
Honey: "But I wanted to wait until after your recovery."
Alison: "Mm?"
Honey: "Okay, that's a lie. Truth is, I've been stalling... but I'm done with that..."
Honey: 'No more stalling.'
He took something out of his pocket and held it up to me.
Alison: "My lighter? You got it back."
Honey: "There's more..."
Honey: 'Come on, you coward! Say it!'
Honey: "Alison, will... will you marry me?!!"
I froze. Of all the things I thought he was gonna say, I did not expect that. After processing what I had just heard, I regained focus. Honey's eyes were shut tight. As if he was almost afraid of my answer. His hand was shaking. As tears filled my eyes, I smiled and took his hand.
Alison: "*sigh* You idiot."
He opened his eyes and stared at me.
Alison: "Is this what's been bothering you the past few days?"
Honey: "I thought... I thought you wouldn't... because of what happened..."
Alison: "Honey, you saved me. I love you and that is never going to change. Of course I'll marry you!"
Honey: "You... you will?"
I threw my arms around him.
Alison: "Yes, a thousand times yes! Never doubt us again, Hon."
He held me close.
Honey: "Heh, I promise."
I looked up into his face. He had tears in his eyes too, but now he was smiling. I cupped his cheek.
Honey: "Sorry I took so long. But I... I want to keep you, Ali... forever. And... and I'll make sure no one takes you from me again."
We touched our foreheads together.
Alison: "Haha, I love you so much! I can't even explain how happy I am right now!"
Honey: "You and me both."
I kissed, then whispered.
Alison: "Hey."
Honey: "What."
Alison: "How much do you wanna bet Trois is listening in on us?"
Honey: "Oh, there is not a doubt in my mind he's right outside that door."
I giggled.
Alison: "You wanna check?"
Honey: "Yes, let's."
Alison: "Promise not to get mad?"
Honey: "I promise."
We stood up, hand in hand, and walked to the door. We opened the door to see both Trois and Kiji staring at us with tears in their eyes. They looked like proud parents.
Alison & Honey: "Called it."
Kiji came in and hugged us both tight.
Kiji: "Oh, my precious inmates. I'm so happy for you. Your love for each other has been strong from the start."
Honey grumbled, his face bright red. I laughed.
Kiji: "When Trois told me what was going on, I couldn't resist. You both have my blessing."
Alison & Honey: "Thanks, Kiji."
He let us go and Trois came and put his hand on Honey's shoulder.
Trois: "I knew you could do it."
Honey smiled and I hugged Trois.
Alison: "This is thanks to you too, Trois. You're a good wingman."
He smiled.
Trois: "That means a lot, Alison."
Kiji picked him up.
Kiji: "Come now, Trois. Let's leave these two alone."
Trois: "Kaay. Have fuuun!"
They left and shut the door behind them.
Honey: "Kiji and Trois are by far the weirdest people I have ever met."
I burst into giggles.
