It's been a few months since the last season of hermitcraft ended, and with the meteor's promise to stay away until the next season. The hermits have had a much needed break. They were able to do different projects. Work on redstone, learn new skills, play in hardcore worlds, interact with some new friends. Adjust to the changes in a far less stressful environment.
All in all it was a good break, and some parts of the transformations have gotten a little better. Grian's talking without needing to mimic the words he says, The wood on Cleo's body is becoming softer and more flesh-like.
Sometimes they just get some much needed time to rest and recover. Ren regained his lost limbs; watcher magic is amazing like that sometimes, it took him a few weeks to recover form that. TFC's been able to focus on making things again, Beef's branching out and working with others again. Iskall makes a modded world, as does Etho.
All in all it's pretty good. A new normal is coming together pretty well.
But of course the new season must start at some point.

The hermits are trying something new this season. They're going in blind without looking at the seed. They decide to settle in a sort of starter villege at first. Then scatter off in all different directions to get started.

Joe starts off in his true form, a towering entity with far too many arms, and eyes. Sticking near the spawn he makes supply chests. He creates a little pavilion, storing furnaces, crafting tables and other necessities.
A bed has been set up for the hermits should they need a place to crash before their starting homes have been constructed.
Xisuma immediately heads down into the mines. His claws click as he scratches through the stone into a large cave. He and Ex get to work immediately. It doesn't take them too long to get to the nether. Tail wagging he grins at the start of his house. It's large but a lot of the time hermitcraft is go big. As they build Xisuma only has to grab Ex's ankle a few times to keep him from floating off. Sure Ex is getting much better at controlling his transformation, but not everything always works as planned.

Of course some Hermits haven't been on survival worlds recently and decide that the best course of action is to go feral.
Namely Tango. This man, who should absolutely avoid dying at all costs, throws himself into danger, constantly. Unnecessarily stressing out the people he's mining with. Low hearts while mining, then darting out into the caves. Getting stuck in powdered snow, he came pretty close to dying there and he had to pop into the nether to warm back up.
He's a phoenix so he's making a nether themed base, it's fitting. He spends hours collecting enough honeycomb to make a bee farm then sets up and builds next to Impulse.

Scrambling up the side of his boulder Zed grins at his base. It's a small boulder but it's nice. And now that he has a home, he can start challenges.
Like making a high dive, to bedrock.
The sheep hybrid calls two of his best friends over and then clambors up the scaffolding. He dies the first time he jumps, because Tango and Impulse blocked the hole. He makes it a few tries later. As he grins up towards the others he feels an odd pang of confusion. "Oh, hi void, Hey IMPY-" Once the high dive challenge is done the three head back to Tango's base.

"Oh hey Jev," Beef nods as he places his front hooves on a rock to stretch, "What's up?"
"You want to go caving?" Jevin offers.
"Sure." Beef settles back onto his hooves, "Let me get a saddle bag first."
After the caving session Beef trots back to his base. Rubbing at his horns he kneels down and starts working on the redstone for a sheep farm. His tail ficks idly at the repetitive work but it's nice. His starter base is a cozy cave. Much more sensible than many of the others.

Cleo starts off with Joe. Working to make spawn safe. Then Pearl shows up with the news that they're raiding a woodland mansion. Shouting over to Joe she heads off with Pearl to go raid. Her wooden joints clicking softly as she runs.

After the woodland mansion has been raided Gem heads further into the woods to start building her house. Her starter base is going to be a tree house this season.
Sure her antlers get caught in the vines sometimes, but it's too cute to not make. And she cal always shapeshift into a smaller animal if she gets stuck. Like a frog.

After what four seasons now, Stress would have thought the starting chaos would feel normal. But it doesn't.
Someone jokingly starts a duel with Fasle. That ends about as well as one would expect. With False kicking their butt.
So after she has enough resources gathered she heads off to a ledge just across the water from spawn and makes a teapot house. Flower like wings fluttering she places the spore blossom and her base practically springs to life.

False starts off by bringing the eagle she 'used' to escape the last world back. Her starter base is a huge tree stump with the eagle perched on a branch. It has enough grip for her to get up in any of her forms.

Starting off Jevin runs straight into the mines with Beef. He emerges from deep in the mines with a horse. Much to everyone's amusement.
He sets off to get some more wood and builds a quaint little starter house. Then XB comes by and smacks his back just a little too hard and now has four smaller Jevin's tackle him to the ground.

Impulse heads off to help raid the woodland mansion. Then he heads deep into the mines to gather as much amethyst as possible for his roof.
He sets up an Enchanting shop for the hermits, then heads off with Tango to see what Zed's up to. The hole down to bedrock.
Feeling the chill wrap around his chest and tug him towards the void Impulse grins.

As TFC gets started he sticks around spawn for the most part.
He heads into the mines and makes his usual starter house a simple box. His voice actually carries from underground.

As he digs into a hole in the side of the mountain Iskall grins.
This is what a starter base is supposed to look like. A little hole in the wall with some decorations.
Not whatever Scar has going on with his tree.
Glowing slightly he delves deeper into the mountainside.

Pearl starts out with a relatively reasonable build.
Then she adds the details and. Well like many of the other hermits builds, it can't really be called 'starter'. And the materials she used weren't the best for starter either.

Heading into the mines XB suits up then heads up to the surface to make his base.
Jumping into the water he shifts into his full mer form and starts to swim around. Looking for a good place set his base up

Doc immediately goes overboard.
A Full gold farm. Villagers set up enchanted diamonds.
It's a wonder he didn't end up with netherite.
Either way it ends up with the Creeper sitting happily on his hoard.

Perched on his rock, Grian chitters down at the hermits. He has a bunch of stolen salmon held in his claw as he frantically waves his hands to stop the other hermits from getting revenge.
Preaning he pops the fish into his inventory and hops around the rock. He's calling it the entity and will be using it as a shop.

Spreading his wings, Bdubs bares his fangs at the moon then yawns. Jumping off a pillar he glides over to where he's constructing his base.
The monolith is nearing completion. Bdubs grins at it. It worked far better than he would have thought the white stones glowing in the moonlight.

Looking over his shoulder Mumbo spots Grian rummaging through his chests and his eyes turn pink in frustration. So doing the only logical thing the robot turns and starts going though Grian's chests.
The parrot squawks and flutters over.
This is why Mumbo needs a vault.

Flittering back over to where he died, Scar tentatively lands on Mumbo's shuder. Only to get pushed off.
He's died so many times already.
You would think that being this much of a smaller target Scar would have better luck at not getting hit. But things don't always work out.
At Least his base is looking Amazing.

Buzzing around Keralis grins.
He's definitely been a busy bee.
His house is under construction and he's got a pretty good day one spider farm.
Pearl had stopped by to chat and the four armed builder had given her a tour around his base area.

A deep rumble emanates from Wels' chest. Jevin backs up and Beef trots in place eyes locked on the smoke trailing from Wels.
"Ok we won't touch your cows." Jevin placates as he and Beef back away from the growinling half dragon.
The growl is silenced and Wels nods, his tail and wings shifting awkwardly on his back.
A few days later Tango is in need of a silk touch pickaxe. So Wels is happy to supply one, given he is allowed to follow his hoard piece.

Barking happily, Ren stretches out and snuffles his way out of his hidey hole. He didn't quite have a base yet so he decided to sleep in an abandoned fox hole.
His real starter house is much cuter than that, thank you very much.
His business plan for this season is extensive and well planned. His first shop is selling pumpkin pies.

It's been a few weeks on the server, nothing beyond the usual shenanigans and chaos has really happened so far. Building has begun, past the normal starter farms and buildings, not that many of the builds could be called starter this season.
A central town of sorts has been constructed around the spawn. It's nice. Everything's within easy walking distance, it's nice. Compared to the normal spread out start.
Everyone is settling in nicely. Tango hasn't died, yet, and everyone hopes he keeps that trend.
Gasping as she passes Mumbo's base Pearl gives a shakky laugh.
"Hey Pearl." The robot waves a grin splitting his face, "Did I scare you?"
"Yeah." Pearl grins as she holds her hand to her chest, "I could only see your eyes, though you were a spider or something."
Shaking his head, Mumbo kocks on his chest, "Nope it's just me."
Turning to leave Pearl spots something and groans, "Not another one."
"What- oh," Mumbo shakes his head slightly, "These boulders just keep popping up."
"Yeah, but something's a bit off about it..."
Nodding Mumbo starts to walk over to the boulder, "Yeah, it feels weird." As his fingers touch the rock a jolt runs though his body. Joints click as servos recalibrate, "Oh well that would do it."
"What is it?"
"It's the meteor."
"Oh no."
