My hands were crossed over my chest, sitting in the backseat. Natalie was sitting in the passenger seat while Jack drove. They were holding hands over the middle. I sighed in frustration as I heard Natalie laugh a little too loud. She threw her head back and grinned devilishly at me. She shoved her seat back until it was pressed up against my knees, making me uncomfortable. What a bitch.

After thirty minutes of obnoxiously stupid jokes from No-Neck Natalie, we finally drop her off. Of course she won't go into her freaking house that easily. As I snuck into the passenger, I saw Natalie and Jack kiss right outside her door. Jack pulled away first and started to come back to the car when she pulled him back.

"For the love of God, girl, get your ass in the freaking house!" I screamed out the window.

Natalie glared at me as she gave Jack one last peck. Jack come back to the car and started the engine. Here comes the awkward silence. I slumped closer to the window. We arrived at a small house that was painted pink. Pink. Of all the freaking colors of the rainbow. Pink. We parked at the house next to the pink one. I sighed in relief. It was a tan house. I went inside the house and took in the caramel colored walls and settle furniture. Am I in the right house? I glanced at Jack and he walked upstairs, leaving me alone in the hall.

The silent treatment I see.

A little girl with jet black hair appeared at the top of the stairs. She looked about seven. She had skull bracelets around her tiny wrists and wore black cargo pants. She wore a black tank top and had on some depressing makeup. She looked like Wednesday from the Addams Family. But creepier. Geez, I'm in the wrong house no doubt about it. There would be no way Miss Heather would raise this kid.

Miss Heather stepped into the hall wearing a yellow apron which said Only Fools Argue with a Skunk, a Mule or the Cook. Ha. Miss Heather actually has a funny bone. I thought that got replaced with the happy bone, "Tedi! I made a snack. Will you join me?" A snack at 12 o'clock at night? I'm seriously going to gain like five pounds while I stay here.

I glanced at the creepy girl staring at me and decided it would be better to stay with Miss Heather the first couple days here. I walked into the kitchen, which looked... normal. I took a sit on the stool and Miss Heather placed a plate of... uh... I have no freaking idea what this is. It looked white and had tan syrupy thing on top. It did NOT look appetizing. I took a fork and pulled a chuck off. Oh God, it wobbled. EW! Miss Heather rummaged through the fridge as I put the piece into my mouth. Gag reflex. This thing tasted like uncooked fish and barbecue sauce smothered on top. I grabbed a napkin and gagged the pieces out.

Miss Heather grinned at me, "How is it?"

"It's uh different.... Very different. Do you watch a lot of TV cooking shows?" I asked, this looked like something my step-dad would see on TV and try to remake it with random shit in the house. Like dog treats. I shuddered.

Miss Heather beamed, "Yes! Do you watch them too?"

Hell naw, "Not really."

The little girl sauntered into the room. She sat down on the stool next to me and just stared. Um... okay. This girl was making this room awkward. I glanced at Miss Heather and she was just beaming at me, motioning me to eat some more. Oh God, this was awkward.

I pretended to yawn, "Oh, I'm going to hit the hay. Where am I sleeping?"

Miss Heather pointed upstairs, "Ava, mind if you show Tedi to her room? Make her feel welcome alright?"

The little thing ignored her and walked upstairs. I followed, saying goodnight to Miss Heather. The girl pushed open the door at the end of the hall and pointed on the inside. I stepped in and sighed. This room was infected by Miss Heather. The walls were colored yellow making it seem like the sun was shining in here. A big stuffed bear was sitting in the corner, watching me. There was a small twin sized bed with pink Barbie covers.

Ava left and I settled on the bed. This was going to be a long week.

I heard a flute being played in the hallway. I rolled over and groaned. Are you freaking serious? Is Maggie here or something? I cracked open my eyes and screamed, jumping onto my feet.

"Good morning," Ava muttered. She actually looked normal today. She wore a pink sun dress and her hair was in a ponytail, letting her bangs hang out. But yet, she was not smiling. I bet Miss Heather forced her to wear it, "Breakfast is downstairs,"

I yawned, "What time is it?"

"9 am," She said as she exited my room. 9 freaking am during Spring Break? Who has a sick enough mind to actually wake up at this time? Miss Heather. I groaned and crawled out of bed. I stretched my tank top lifting, showing my stomach. I pulled my shorts down a little just as Jack walked past my room, wearing only boxes. I gulped as he glanced into my room for a brief moment. He stared a bit longer then necessary. My cheeks redden. I threw on some jeans and a T-shirt that had the Joker on it with bloody letters saying Why so Serious?

I sauntered downstairs and slumped into an open chair. The guy sitting next to Miss Heather glanced at me. He was good-looking, having the same sharp eyes as Jack, "You must be Tedi. It's so nice to meet you,"

"Ya, you too." I replied, staring at the poop looking bagels and matching flat bread things, "What's this?" I pointed to the flat bread things.

"Pancakes," Jack said, taking a seat beside me still not wearing a freaking shirt.

Pancakes? Try imagining someone's poop or your poop if you want and smash it to a circle about an inch thick. Okay, you see that picture. Imagine that sitting in front of you, Miss Heather forcing you to eat it. Yeah, that's the position I'm in. Isn't that horrible?

I grabbed an orange and started peeling. Jack grabbed one of the pancakes and pretended to eat. I finished the orange. Gosh, I'm still hungry. I poured myself a cup of OJ and sighed. I'm going to die today by vitamin C overdose.

Jack stopped eating, not even a quarter of his pancake down with, "Tedi, don't you need your allergy medicine?"

My eyebrows furrowed in confusion. He nudged to the car. What? Did he want to make-out in the car or something? I'll guess I'll just go along with it, "Yeah, my allergy to chickens is getting worse,"

"You're allergic to chicken?" Miss Heather gasped.

"No, just thinking or looking or even smelling them makes me all red and stuff. It's gross," I can't believe she's falling for this. Who's ever heard of an allergy to chickens? I'm sure it exists. Somewhere in China or something.

Miss Heather frowned, "Should I come along?"

Jack stood up, "No, I get it. C'mon Tedi." He ran upstairs and grabbed a shirt.

I got up and jammed my leg against the table, "Mother_" Miss Heather and Mr. Gold's eyes shot at me, "Hugger. I meant mother-hugger."

Mr. Gold nodded, glancing at Ava, "Uh-huh."

Jack and I raced to the car and I strapped in, "So, what's this about?"

"One, I wanted to get you alone and two, that pancake or whatever that is killing me. I need food like actual food." He shot the car into reverse, getting out of the parking. Get me alone? Hm... that sounds sketchy.

We went through the McDonald's drive thru. As we waited, Jack turned to me, unbuttoning his seat belt in the process, "Ugh, forgot it."

I raised an eyebrow, "Just tell me, geez. Does my life depend on it?"

"Not really," He muttered, whispering something under his breath. His eyes darkened as he stared at me. Some people would think this was such a sexy moment. And it would be. I mean look at Jack. He's freaking hot. I don't even know why his shirt hasn't melted off from all that hotness yet. But the fact that we were in a McDonald's drive thru and as he smiled, I noticed at some of the pancake got stuck his front teeth.

Other than that, I still wanted to kiss him right now. He started to lean in and I closed my eyes. But surprisingly, I felt pressure on my cheek and not my lips. I opened my eyes and he had leaned away, cheeks turning a bit red.

I was going to ask what this meant. If we were together or something but then he said, "We're just friends right?" He didn't look at me. Jerk.

I huffed about to say a much of words that belonged to a sailor, "Yea, whatever." I said, harshly. I had never been so confused about a guy before. One minute, Jack is all over me, saying he wants me and was going to make me love him and the next he's giving me a cold shoulder and making out with freaking Natalie in my face. What was he trying to say?

I wish there was manual on boys. Now that would be helpful.
