"That'll look cute on you." Jai said pointing at a cropped hoodie as we shopped.
"With all the clothes i got i probably already got that." I looked at this colorful two piece.
Me and Jai was spending time together since My aunt felt we needed more bonding before i left.
I still hadn't make my decision yet about who i was going to live with.
Of course i want to live that family life, but then again i want to be with my blood relatives.
"They weird." Jai said mugging these girls across the cafe in the mall.
The girls been "picking" on her for a minute so she thought that rightfully so.
"They not trying nothing while i'm hear, Better tell them about Big A." I laughed making Jai laugh aswell.
"If you come here I already know it'll be so cool." She said and I nodded.
"We got this cookout thing on the 18th, you can come see everyone." She re applied more lip gloss.
"Ill think about it." I said and she nodded.
The rest of the day was just spent by me and Jai hanging around and eating.
"So how was it?" My mother said sitting down next to me.
"Wasn't nothing too extra." I shrugged and she nodded.
"Are you considering allowing your aunt to adopt?" She asked and i shrugged again.
"Im not sure, thats all too much for tonight." I said getting up to go to my room.
Amari was supposedly supposed to be coming to see me since i was back but he was running late.
"Yes girl." I laughed on the phone with Jai. "He dead wrong." She said laughing as well.
We had been gossiping about some random ass people on social media.
"Ima call you back, my friend calling me." I said before hanging up on her.
"Yooo." I cheesed in the camera at step. "Amari got shot!" He yelled in the camera with tears filling his eyes.
"What the fuck!" I said hopping up out of my bed.
As tears filled my eyes as well i ran out of my front door picking up the keys for the spare car.
Speeding down the highway i could only think about Amari and the sweet things he's done.
I didn't want to hide my feelings for him anymore. I wanted to let myself love him.
Traffic was bad as hell so navigating it was my biggest problem.
I pulled up to the hospital seeing all my closest friends and some of his family in the waiting room.
"What happened?" I cried as Zavier consoled Aaliyah. "They pulled a drive by letting three shots out on Mari." He shook his head.
I cried even worse knowing he might not survive.
My leg bounced as i sat next to my friends. We sat close all just leaning and holding onto each other.
"Family of Amari Walsh?" A doctor asked and I seen his mother step forward.
She also was teary eyed and looked a mess. "Amari is okay, We successfully dislodge all the bullets and now he's in stable condition." The doctor said reading off a clipboard.
His mother let out an obvious sigh of relief before sitting down in his seat.
"He asked for Angel." The doctor said scanning the crowd and i stepped forward.
"You can follow me." He smiled walking to the back.
I walked behind him down the long hall, seeing all the sick patients.
"Hey." I said in a quiet voice walking in the room. He slightly waved his hand.
I cried more seeing him in that condition. "Stop being a crybaby." He sucked his teeth at me.
"you already being rude." I slightly laughed.
"Come over here." He gestured for me to come lay on side of him.
"No mari you hurting and shit." I said and he sucked his teeth.
"I didn't ask you all that." He said patting a small space on the bed.
I sat next to him as he put his arm on my lower waist rubbing my back.
"Who you think did this?" I asked him and he shrugged.
I knew he actually knew who did it because his face changed a little when he lied.
"Khalil wasnt it?" I asked and he nodded.
My beef with Khalil wasn't that deep but now that he tried to kill Amari anything was on the table as in get backs.
