THE next day, they were all lined up at the Miyagi-Do dojo and Daniel and Johnny stood in front of them.
"Ready, bow!"
They all bowed to their sensei's.
Daniel then spoke up. "Sensei Lawrence and I have the same goal of preparing you for the tournament."
"But we have different ways of getting you there." Johnny continued.
"We realize that teaching you opposing viewpoints at the same time can be a little confusing." Daniel said.
"So we've discussed it and come up with a solution. We're gonna divide and conquer. Eagle Fangs train out front."
"And I'll be back here with the Miyagi-Do's."
"I thought we were stronger working together?" Miguel questioned.
"We're still working together." Daniel replied.
"Just separately. On opposite ends of the dojo." Johnny clarified.
Lucia swallowed and sighed.
"All right, Eagles, follow me." Johnny ordered.
"Miyagi-Do's, come over here." Daniel motioned.
The two teams split up and Lucia followed her best friend out front.
"Fall in!" Johnny ordered.
Before he could tell them what to do, a car pulled into the drive way.
"Moon?" Lucia furrowed her eyebrows.
Moon rolled down the window and waved.
"You forgot your water at my house!" Moon called.
"At her house?" Hawk smirked.
"Shut up. We're not back together. Yet."
"Oh, and I also brought you a little snack. Carrot sticks and celery!" Moon exclaimed.
Lucia looked down, slightly embarrassed, but also grateful because she was starving, and Johnny looked over at Moon.
"Listen, Sun, you can't be here right now unless you're going to fight, so get out of here." Johnny ordered.
"Uh, Johnathan, my name is Moon."
"It's Sensei Lawrence to you!" Johnny pointed.
"Sensei, can I just go grab my things." Lucia sighed.
"Fine, whatever, but tell her we don't need any hot babes cheering us on yet. Wait for the All Valley."
"She's not cheering, but okay. And don't call her a hot babe. That's...That's weird." Lucia replied, before running up to Moon's car.
She grabbed her water bottle and Zip-block bag of snacks from Moon's hands.
"Am I embarrassing you?" Moon asked.
"It's okay. They'll only be making fun of me for like an hour." Lucia replied.
"Sorry." Moon twisted her lips.
"It's okay."
They stood there staring at each other awkwardly. They still weren't back together yet, but they were still close friends and Moon was going to wait for Lucia for however long.
"Um..." Lucia trailed off.
"I'm gonna go."
"Okay."
"Bye." Moon giggled.
She pulled out of the spot and drove away.
"Is the show over?" Johnny asked as she walked back over with a face as red as a tomato.
"Yup. Just gonna...gonna put these inside..."
She ran inside and placed her drink and snack with her bag, then ran back outside, taking her spot next to Hawk.
"Okay! Hawk, since you're new to Eagle Fang, come on up."
"Yes, Sensei." Hawk bowed and walked up to Johnny.
The older man then swept Hawk off of his feet, the boy falling over.
Lucia pursed her lips. "Well...That was certainly something."
"What the heck?" Hawk groaned.
"Today we're gonna practice our front sweeps. On Hawk." Johnny informed.
Hawk stood up and let out a breath. "Alright, I know I was a dick, but I'm sorry."
"Talk is cheep. Who's next? a penis breath, you're up!"
Mitch walked up to Hawk and swept him up his feet, then helped him up.
"Don't help him up, he can get up on his own!" Johnny called.
Miguel was up next and swept Hawk off of his feet, Hawk groaning again.
"Sorry." Miguel whispered.
"Stop whinin' like a little bitch. Get up."
Bert was next and squinted, trying to muster up the courage to hurt his friend.
"Don't be a pussy, punch him on the face!" Johnny exclaimed.
Bert went, then nodded to Johnny who nodded back.
Next up was Lucia who was waiting for Hawk to stand up.
"Please go easy on me." He begged, panting.
"Sorry. I can't."
Instead of sweeping him off of his feet, Lucia punched him in the balls.
"Oh! What in the fuck!" Hawk shouted, grabbing his crotch in pain.
"You punched him in the balls? What the hell is wrong with you?" Johnny scolded.
"Sensei, he called me a girlfriend hopping slut! You were there!" Lucia defended herself.
"You're still mad about that?" Hawk asked from the ground, still gripping his lower area.
"Mm, just a little." Lucia shrugged.
Hawk stood up again and Daniel rushed outside.
"Sensei Lawrence, may I have a word with you?" Daniel requested.
"Alright, guys, everybody take five." Johnny then pat Hawk on the shoulder. "Walk it off. Looking good, looking good!"
He then followed Daniel and they all went inside for a break.
Lucia stood a sip of her water and took a bite of her carrot.
"Walk it off? I'm trying my best here." A voice muttered.
Lucia turned around to see Hawk. "Carrot?"
He shook his head and took a sip of his own water.
"So your girlfriend packs your lunches instead of your mommy, huh?" Hawk raised his eyebrows.
"Shut up." Lucia poked him.
He walked over to a picture hanging on the dojo wall.
"You know, that's the sparring deck where Mr. Miyagi's great-grandfather taught karate on the Okinawan waterfront." Demetri informed.
Lucia turned around and smiled. "Carrot?"
"Thank you." Demetri smiled, taking one from the bag and biting it.
Hawk touched the frame and Chris walked in.
"Yo, be careful with that."
"Why, you think I'm gonna break it?" Hawk asked.
Lucia ate one more carrot before putting it back in her bag.
"You already broke a door. And you stole Mr. Miyagi's medal." Chris reminded.
"And you beat the shit out of me!" Nate spat.
"Hey, look, I'm really sorry about all that." Hawk apologized.
"Go back with your little Eagle gang. You're not wanted here."
Hawk looked at them all sadly before walking away.
Lucia and Demetri gave each other a look and the blonde sighed.
"I'll go. You stay here."
She walked outside after Hawk.
"I don't know where I fit in here." She heard the boy say.
"Well what did you expect? You've burned bridges with pretty much everyone here." Daniel replied.
Hawk shook his head and walked away.
"Hey. Hey!" Daniel called after him.
"Oh, this is a disaster." Lucia sighed, following Hawk, Demetri close behind.
"Hawk."
"Hawk!"
Both Demetri and Lucia followed after the boy until he grumbled and turned around.
"What?"
"Look, Mr. LaRusso and everyone else does have a point—."
"I really don't want to hear this right now."
"Wait, we're not done. Continue, Lucia."
"But that doesn't mean you can't change and grow. You're doing that just by being here." Lucia confined.
"Yeah." Demetri spoke up. "And sure you still have a long way to go, but we believe in you."
"So come on. We can brainstorm some ideas of what else you can do together."
Hawk sighed and looked between the two.
"Fine."
They all linked arms and walked back altogether.
