Meenakashi's POV

I got out of the bed with a lot of difficult and got ready for the day and went into the kitchen and after I prepared the breakfast everyone came to the dining area to have the breakfast and I was standing there to serve them. After the breakfast everyone got ready to leave for the shopping excluding my grandmother in-law and I. After everyone left, my grandmother in-law was watching telivision meanwhile I had my breakfast and then got immersed in the chores.

In the evening when I was busy in the kitchen, everyone returned home and showed my grandmother in-law everything they bought. My mother in-law bought a saree for me for the festival and gave it to me. She brings sarees for me wherever they go out for shoppng.

The next day, my husband, our kids and I went to visit my uncle who was only a wheelchair which made me cry seeing him so vulnerable. My uncle said that he made a sin by abandoning me. He hugged me and apologised for abandoning me. He hugged my children and even talked to my husband but my husband didn't seem interested at all and just talked to him out of formality. They insisted us to celebrate the festival with them but my husband refused and didn't let us stay with them.We were there at my uncle's house not more than 3 hours. This made me very upset but I stayed silent and then we came home by the evening.

After reaching the home, I was again immersed in the household chores and then came Sudha's father to take his daughter and son in-law to their home for the festival. After spending some time in our home, he left with his daughter and son in-law to their home.

Every married woman goes to their maternal home for festivals in our Village and the children would happily accompany their mothers to visit their maternal grandparents' home to celebrate festivals. But my children didn't have that privilege and for the first time when someone from my family wanted us to celebrate the festival with them, my husband refused. This made me very sad.

It was not like I could change my husband's decision, so I simply accepted and again got immersed in the chores. My back also started aching from few days but that's not really bad. So, I just ignored it.

Everyone were enjoying the festival and the kids were happily enjoying the holidays ignoring their studies but my husband made sure to make them study atleast one hour per day.

On the day of Bhogi, I woke up much earlier than the usual for making rangolis. By the time everyone woke up I was still filling the rangolis with the colours and my sons who saw me filling the colours quickly ran into the house and brought my husband's mobile to click pictures.

After making the rangolis till the entrance of our gate, I was satisfied. Rangolis are the best part of festivals. In villages, we make simple rangolis everyday but on special occasions, we make big and special rangolis based on special occasions and we have an unofficial rangoli competition in the neighborhood on festivals. We ladies take pride in making the best rangolis.

As I was going inside the house, I heard someone calling me so, I turned back only to see Raghav, who was the grandson of our neighbour who stays in Hyderabad and comes to visit his grandparents for festivals. He was my first friend in this village. He came to our home as a kid whenever he was in the village and that's how we met and became friends but after we grew up, we didn't talk much.
