Chapter six | Emma's birthday party

"Alright I have chosen a dress for you"
"Li it better be nice or you were no help"
"Oh god chill it's an amazing dress"
"Then show me Li"
"Here"
"Wow Li you outdone yourself again"
"Yeah I'm proud of me too"
"Well that's good then"
I checked the time and it was already 6.30. We have been here for a very long time. I applied light makeup and left my hair down. After a few minutes I received a notification for the one and only Xavier Mortelli.
"Meet me in the school main hall"
"I'll see you there Mr Mortelli"
There he was wearing the red suit and I must say the color red suited him.
"You look beautiful"
I was stunned to speak. I never knew Xavier complimented people.
"Thank you and you too"
The car ride was silent, I took a nap as I was a little tired. When the car stopped I realized we were already here and Xavier didn't need to wake me up. As I stepped out of the car my jaw dropped to see their big house.
It was so beautiful and looked like a dream. Xavier asked me to follow him and I snapped out of my thoughts. Focus Vi we just need to be alert, that's it.
The house inside looked like another dream.
"Big brother you're here!"
"Yes Emma I'm here and why are you awake at 7AM?"
"Mum might have told me you are coming"
"Sei serio?" (Are you serious?)
"Yes I am and that must be?"
"Vivian King, my girlfriend"
WHAT- I'm not even his girlfriend.
I can't ruin his little sister's mood after all it's her birthday so I'm gonna play along. It's gonna be easy right?
"Hey Emma I got you a gift" I handed her the box.
"Thank you so much!" after she said that she opened the gift.
"I love it so much, thank you Vivian!"
"You can call me Vi if you would like"
"Alright Vi it is"
"I told you to not get her something expensive" Xavier whispered and sent shivers down my spine.
"Mr Mortelli I also said I make no promises" I whispered back.
"Anyways Emma it's time for your gift from your big brother"
"Can I guess it?"
"Nope, let me go and get it" he said and left to the car.
"There you go Emma"
"Is that a puppy?"
"Yes it is, i gave her a nickname"
"May I know what it is, brother?"
"Its Belle"
"Then her name will be Belle then"
The bond with him and his little sister was adorable. I haven't seen Xavier like this since today.
"Where's mom and dad?"
"They went out to do something important they said"
"Well then you should be happy because we're gonna stay over tonight"
Another surprise, me staying over Lily is going to be pissed.
"Xavier could you please excuse me a minute I have to make a call" I whispered to him.
"Sure just don't take long"
"I promise I won't" I said with a sweet smile and left.
I immediately dialed Lily's number to inform her I just hope she won't freak out. After one ring she picked up.
"Hello drama queen!"
"Li I'm in public it's not the time to call me that"
"Whatever and now tell me why did you call ok?"
"Yeah but I have to stay over at the place I am"
"May I know where? You have been incognito the whole time"
"I wish I could but then I would have to explain too"
"You better come back early tomorrow or I'm chasing you the whole university"
"I promise to come back early dear Lily"
After that I had ended the call and made my way back to Emma and Xavier.
"Emma, could you excuse me and Vivian? I need to talk to her for a while then I'll be back ok?"
"Okay have fun and now I'm going to wake up Hailee"
"Follow me love" he whispered and sent shivers down my spine again.
We went into a big room, I assumed it was his as it matched his vibe.
"I need to explain to you some stuff so could you please hear me out first?"
"Sure but it better not be a waste of my time"
"I promise you won't regret it. I actually had promised my little sister that on her 10th birthday I would bring my girlfriend for her to meet but I never had been in a relationship so I had to ask someone else. I asked you because my sister didn't know you and you were different from the rest. Anyways, I usually stay over after her birthday. It's like a tradition and I should have told you this earlier. I'm truly sorry."
I could see he was genuinely sorry and I tried so hard to not yell and accepted it.
"Well it's fine everyone makes mistakes but I don't have any clothes what am I supposed to wear?"
"Don't worry that bit is already handled" he said with a smirk.
Vi don't you dare punch him, control it. Deep breathes and focus.
"Now let me show you your room"
With that we left to see the room I'll be staying in. It was another massive room, they must be really rich but this room was smaller than mine back home but I didn't mind.
"And this is your room love, I hope you like it"
"Thank you"
"No problem love"
"That's my nickname now?"
"Why do you like it?" he whispered in my ear.
"Whatever, now what am I supposed to do?"
"You'll see," he said with a mischievous grin.
"Yo cugino where on earth are you?"
"Freddo sto arrivando" (Chill I am coming)
"Fai in fretta che hai lasciato sola tua sorella" (Make it quick you left your sister's alone)
"How are they alone when they're with you Dylan" Xavier yelled.
"We have to go downstairs and meet the family you coming love?"
"It's not like I have a choice"
"Then let's go"
"You didn't tell me you brought someone with you cugino?"
"She's not someone Dylan she's my girlfriend"
"That explains why you were looking at her the other day the whole time"
"Whatever anyways this is Vivian"
"Hey Vivian I'm Dylan a.k.a the hottest Mortelli"
I burst out laughing after he said that it was rude but seriously though it was very funny at the same time.
"And I'm Vivian you can just call me Vi"
"Vi is it then" he said with a smirk.
Xavier cleared his throat and said "My beloved cugino devo ricordarti che è la mia ragazza o devo darti un pugno per tornare in te?" (My beloved cousin, do I need to remind you that she is my girlfriend or do I need to punch you to come back to your senses?)
Should I tell them I understand Italian or should it be my little secret? I'm playing it safe by keeping a secret for now.
"Scusate" Dylan said in an apologetic tone.
"Anyways this is Matteo, Enzo, Giovanni, Antonio, Elena, Olivia, Naomi, Irene and Isabella"
"You have lots of cousins," I whispered to Xavier.
"These are only a few of them love, you will meet the others later."
"Sorry the others are not here yet Xavier, they are probably still at school" Giovanni said.
"As long as they come to the party on time they're safe"
"Yeah I'll just text them again just in case the forget"
A girl walked up to me. I suppose she is Elena. "Hey I'm Elena you can call me Elly in short if you like"
"Hey Elly I'm Vivian you can call me Vi"
"It's nice to meet you!"
"Likewise"
"Xavier, you don't mind if me and the girls steal her and you boys can do whatever you want? Alright let's go girls"
"I didn't say yes"
"Oh come on you can have her later"
"Whatever have fun I guess"
Before I left Xavier whispered and said "Have fun love".
"You bet I will"
After that the girls dragged me out of the living room and went to another room.
"So we need help," all of them said at the same time.
"What can I help you guys with?"
"With planning Emma's birthday party" Isabella said.
"Sure so what's the theme like?"
"We have all of the information here"
"Thank you, let me just read it and then we can begin, okay?"
They all nodded.

It was 6 hours later and we had finished everything. I had bonded a lot with Xavier's cousin. We even created a group chat for us. The birthday planning took a lot of time and we hope Emma likes it.
It was almost 1 PM and we took a few minutes break. I was very happy that we pulled it off exactly like how our expectations were.
Xavier immediately ran to me. I was not sure why though.
"Hey are you okay?"
"Yeah I'm fine, why?"
"Well maybe because I had called you 100 times and left 50 messages to know where you are."
"I'm sorry I silenced my phone while you and the rest were relaxing me and the girls decorated this whole area."
His jaw dropped when he realized it, I guess he was too focused on me that he forgot to be alert of his surroundings.
"Whoa this looks amazing!" Dylan said and walked in.
"Thank you Dylan now if you will excuse the girls we have to go and change" Isabella said.
"I guess I'll meet you guys later"
"Yeah definitely bye Vi!"
"And now I have you all to myself" Xavier whispered.
"I guess so"
"Get a room you both"
"Geez cugino, are you jealous?"
"Why would I be?"
"Whatever later love birds"
"Bye!"
"You didn't have to say bye to him," Xavier said.
"But I did"
"Okay Ms King"
"I'm going to my room I'll see you later"
"Bye love make sure to check your phone this time"
"I make no promises on that!" I said and left.
It was 12.40 PM and I had 20 minutes to touch up my makeup, hair and dress. After I had done it I heard a knock on the door and went to open it.
"Hello love it's time to go to the party"
"Lead the way"
We walked down the stairs and I saw all of them dressed in suits and dresses. They wore the same coloured suits and dresses. I supposed it's a family thing. Seeing them made me miss my family and all of the memories with them. It was nice to see they have the same tradition as us. I'm definitely visiting my family this weekend. Luckily today was a Friday, so I could leave in the morning. I didn't have to take anything much but I was gonna ask if Lily wanted to tag along.
"Alright since we are all here, let's make our way to the party," Matteo said.
Xavier made sure I was close to him so that I wouldn't be lost in this massive party. There were more people than I expected but after all this is a party.

As the oldest Mortelli among my cousins I knew the family are rivals with the Kings.
I saw my cousin holding onto Vivian's arm. He doesn't know that the Kings are our rivals, and she is one of them. Our parents are gonna be here any minute now.
Should I tell them or let them find it out themselves?
We all had gone into the party hall and now was time for our parents to come in. I saw Xavier bringing Vivian to his parents to introduce her.
This is not going to end well after his parents find out who she is. I wanted to help but Dylan dragged me to see something. His timing is just bad and now I can't help them.
I had to go to wherever Dylan was dragging me to, apparently it was to Emma's friends. Why am I supposed to be there? I have absolutely no idea.

I was done helping out and when I went back to the hall I realized Vivian was no longer there. So I decided to find her but before I could, Isabella told me that our parents forced her to leave.
Shit they found out who she was, I immediately went to see if she was outside but she wasn't. She had already left long ago. Now I had to check up on Xavier, this night has turned into a big mess and the fact that I can't do anything about it is just-
The worst part is Xavier was nowhere to be found too, I texted him and called him several times but no response from him. I feel so bad right now.
