The two had gotten back to the house, dry again and fully clothed. Emma peaked over a stone wall and looked down at Jake and Y/n "Hurry, you'll miss it"
The twins climbed up to stand level with Emma, so they could see over the wall.
Emma nodded, keeping her gaze forward "Ymbrynes usually pick the perfect day to create a loop. But Miss Peregrine had to make this one in a rush"
Y/n listened to their conversation as she watched Miss Peregrine walk towards a white outline on the grass of a dead monster with a crossbow in her hands.
Jake shook his head "Why?"
Emma spoke in a duh tone making Y/n silently smile to herself "Because the Germans were about to drop a bomb on the house. The point is, Spetember the 3rd, 1943 wasn't perfect. The thing that killed Victor came back.
Miss Peregrine stood a few feet away from the outline and pulled her watch from her pocket. She looked down at it, before putting it back into her pocket.
The twins watched as a similar monster to which they saw the night of their grandpa's death climbed up the cliff side.
Jake started to shout but was instantly shut up by Emma.
Y/n didn't say anything she just stared. She felt a pit start to form in the bottom of her stomache, so she jumped down ignoring the calls from her brother and walked straight back into the house.
She kept walking, trying to get to the garden but stopped when she walked into someone. Y/n closed her eyes and waited to feel the floor beneath her but she didn't, instead she felt a pair of arms around her waist. She opened her eyes to see Enoch looking down at her. Y/n moved herself out of his grip and looked to the floor. They both just stood there until Y/n felt a hand grab onto her wrist.
Enoch started gently pulling her up the stairs and towards his room he pulled her in there and closed the door behind him. When he turned around he saw Y/n looking up at him.
"What happened?"
"What?"
"You have tears in your eyes. What happened?"
"I just saw the thing that killed Victor and it looked exactly like the thing that might have killed my grandpa!"
Enoch hesitantly stepped forward and slowly pulled her into a hug. They both stiffened at the action but they quickly relaxed into the hug. Y/n slowly wrapped her arms around the boys waist as she rested her head on his chest. Enoch rested his head beside hers and gently tightened his grip around her shoulders.
They stood like that for a moment or two and slowly pulled away, Y/n looked up at him "Thank you" he nodded at her before pulling her into another hug.

Emma nodded at Jake "You and Y/n can see it, can't you? No one else can, it's invisible Jake. That was Abe's greatest gift of all, he could see the monsters"
Miss Peregrine sat in a room, smoking her pipe "We call them Hollowgast. Hollows for short"
Jake sat on a sofa and Y/n stood in the corner of the room, with Enoch next to her.
Y/n nodded slowly "Our grandpa told us about people who turn into monsters. Is that what they are?"
Miss Peregrine nodded "I will explain everything. I fear it's my duty now, considering. But you should both know that in doing so, I am breaking a solemn promise" she looked down "I knew you were both peculiar when you were born but your grandfather forbid me to tell you anything. His dearest wish was for you two have ordinary childhoods"
Jake nodded glancing at Y/n "We definitely had that"
"He intended to tell you two the truth when you turned 18. He hoped his bedtime stories would pave the way" she took a puff of her pipe when Emma walked in holding a huge book.
Miss Peregrine took a seat beside Jake and ushered Y/n over. She took a seat beside her brother and Enoch stood beside her, whilst Emma stood beside her Ymbryne.
Miss Peregrine opened a book titled Peculiar History to a page titled Peculiar Scientists. She handed the book to Jake and Y/n to have a look at whilst she spoke.
"Many years ago, a splinter faction emerged amoung our people. Disaffected peculiars tired of living in loops"
Jake pointed to the man in the centre of the picture "That's Mr. Barron"
"He believed that by harnessing the essence of an Ymbryne's powers, he and his cronies could gain immortality and be able to live outside loops. He devised an experiment" Miss Peregrine flipped the page...
A bird was sat in a cage on a small table in the middle of a dark room. Multiple people sat around it in a circle with helmets hanging above their heads.
Miss Peregrine : "He kidnapped an Ymbryne, not knowing or caring wether she would survive the experiment"
Barron flipped a switch and everyone put on their helmets. Barron did too, before turning and flipping another, smaller switch.
Miss Peregrine : "But the fate of Barron and his group was more horrifying still" she turned the page again.
Barron flipped another switch and the wires connecting the bird cage to all 11 masks started to glow. Smoke started to come out of the bottom of the masks.
The people behind the masks started to groan and choke. Sparks flew and people shook as they continued to groan.
A man in a suit with a red flower on his chest took the mask off and started to scream as his eyes turned white.
A slightly larger man stood up and took off the helmet screaming. His eyes turned white and his hands started to rearrange themselves.
A taller, bald man took the helmet off and stood up as his hands started to crack and bend into long blades. His eyes started turning white.
The same man in the suit with the red flower stopped screaming and started growling as his jaw rearranged itself and his head shape changed. He grew freakishly tall as his suit ripped and his hair disappeared.
Another man started to twist and turn as he grew taller and lanky, his tounge turned into a long tentacle as he groaned and growled.
Y/n shook her head in confusion "Why didn't Barron turn into one?"
Barron took off the mask and let out screams as he half transformed into what his friends previously had. Except he only got half way and turned invisible.
Miss Peregrine nodded at the girl "He did. But years later he found a way to reverse the side effects. To regain humanity, they had become not immortal gods. But hollows" she shook her head as she continued "Invisible beasts, dangerous, cold-blooded, deadly"
Emma looked directly at Jake "Remember I told you they raided loops? This is why" she gestured to the book as Miss Peregrine turned the page again.
Y/n looked at the pages, yet she sat there still confused and slightly horrified as the page was filled with pictures of children missing their eyes. Just like Victor and just like her grandfather.
"Barron discovered that by consuming the eyes of other peculiars, especially children"
A little girl was standing near a rather large window, holding a doll. She wasn't doing anything but just standing there when she was pulled off the ground and her doll was dropped to the ground.
6 dead and eyeless children lie across the floor as eyes were being moved into a pile by invisible tentacles which could only be seen by their shadows.
Miss Peregrine : "They began to change"
The eyes were flying in different directions, then disappearing as they were being eaten. Within a matter of seconds, three hollows became visible. Their form started to change back to normal, the only thing that stayed was their eyes. Their eyes stayed white.
Miss Peregrine : "Consume enough and a Hollow can fully regain it's human form"
Barron grinned as he picked an eye up with his fork "Bon appetit" him as well as four others started to eat the eyes.
Emma shook her head at the twins "The rest of them are stuck as Hollows"
Jake gulped "Are you saying that Barron at my grand..."
Jake was cut off by Miss Peregrine "He needs no more eyes himself. But I fear he led a hollow to your grandfather. Yes"
Y/n zoned out after that, she didn't hear another word that left Miss Peregrine's mouth. She didn't want too, she had heard enough to know that she didn't want to be a peculiar any longer than she may have already been. She didn't want to become this Scarlette Witch that Enoch was on about. For once in her life, Y/n just wanted to feel truly safe and ordinary. But of course that was going to be too much to ask. She just stared at he floor and pretended she was listening.
"After the first attacks on loops we all got better at hiding, making new loops, keeping our whereabouts secret. The hollows grew more desperate every year and Barron wishes to help his friends"
Olive rushed to the door, snapping Y/n out of her daze "Miss Peregrine come quickly. Miss Avocet's awake"
Miss Peregrine stood up and followed after Olive. Following behind was Y/n, Emma, Jake and Enoch.
Everyone crowded round Miss Peregrine and Miss Avocet who were sitting on a sofa.
Miss Avocet hurriedly turned around "Oh, Miss Peregrine, they found my new loop. The children, I tried to save them...but there were so many hollows, I don't know how I escaped"
Miss Peregrine pulled the woman into a hug "You're safe now"
Miss Avocet pulled away from the woman "None of us are safe. They set up the machine in my loop"
Olive nodded "They put it in the cellars at Blackpool tower. They're still there"
Miss Peregrine shook her head "Their machine?" But Miss Avocet only nodded in answer before speaking "The experiment, they intend to do it again"
Enoch glanced at Y/n who was stood beside him, but quickly looked back at his Ymbryne "This time they're using more Ymbrynes he still wants to be immortal"
Jake shook his head "Do hollows only attack peculiars?"
Y/n's head snapped to looked at her brother. She knew what he was getting at.
Miss Peregrine shook her head again "Of course not. They're monsters Jake, they'll slaughter anything in their path"
"Some sheep on the Island were killed. You don't think they're here already do you?"
Miss Avocet looked between the twins "Have you seen anyone with White eyes?" But both Jake and Y/n shook their heads.
Miss Peregrine looked at the floor as she spoke "I'm sorry children. We can't remain here"
Enoch unfolded his arms "What?"
Miss Peregrine looked up "We'll leave on the first ferry off the island tomorrow. Pack everything of importance" she leant down to help the masked twins up "Then it's sandwiches and early to bed"
Hugh sighed "Are we leaving for good?"
Fiona but her lip "When are we coming back?"
Enoch sighed as he locked eyes with Y/n "Never. If Miss peregrine's not here to reset the loop tomorrow night the house gets bombed"
Claire looked at the floor "But our house"
Miss Avocet looked down at her "Don't cry. Miss Peregrine will find you another lovely house, somewhere else"
Everyone left the room to sort their things out.
Jake sat in Emma's room whilst she packed and Y/n sat in Enoch's whilst he packed.
