'(Y/n)'s been in high spirits than usual. Wonder what's going on in that mortal brain of theirs.' Xiao picked up your subtle heightened cheerfulness, sighing to himself in deep thoughts as he try to find a reason behind these actions of yours.
The smell of a whole meal of delicacies are rushing in and out of Smiley Yanxiao's kitchen as waiters and waitresses serve famished customers.
3rd of February. Lantern rite is in the air, Liyue bustling with citizens continuing preparations, various festive decoration and creation were sold off, people holding and opening up new events for you as a trvaler to explore and have fun with.....
No... none of these things could have the heights of excitement for you to go this cheery.
"Verr, can... I ask you a question?" unexpectedly confronting the inn's manager as she stop by the roof to place food by a chair for the adeptus. Even Verr took a second take to confirm what she just heard.
"Sure, go ahead." carefully choosing her own words to not offend the adepti in any way as she stayed and listen to him.
"....." Xiao went silent.
"Why does... (Y/n) looked so happy than usual?"
"I promised (Y/n) that I can't reveal their secret." Verr disclosed, protecting your privacy. "But all I can say is... today's a special day between you and them. If you'll excuse me, I'll be off to check on the guests."
As she left, Xiao was just left clueless. Far clueless than before but at least he's getting somewhere.
'A special day... between (Y/n) and I...?" the least thing is that he's getting somewhere.
'Wait why am I thinking about this again-' he questioned himself, finally snapping back to his stubborn self, trying to shake off those thoughts. "It's useless, all I can think about is... them."
For once, a new burst of feeling has conquered over the pain of his karmic debts. A powerful surge of feelings far formidable than his karmic debts.

Out of all the fields of wisdom the adeptus holds, it just has to be one of those complex mortal feelings.
'So... is this what those mortals called... love?' he questioned himself, wandering about the open lushy woods.
Xiao subconsciously picked Crystalflies as he was lost in thought, only realizing these were his gift to you on his birthday because he thought it would look good in you hair.
Realizing almost anything around him reminds him of you, his face went flustered red whilst he couldn't help but think about you again.
'I can't just give them these saying the same thing..." the Anemo adepti affirmed with that thought, sighing at the amount of crystalflies he caught for you. After all, to him these are worthless, but if it's for you, he'll find himself doing a thousand of things.
Before he knew it, night has fell upon them with the sun winking out of the horizon. You're coming to convince him to see the fireworks and light up the Xiao lanterns.
Even though he knew that, he chose to idle away by the roof, listening to the gentle breeze, like it was carrying a mystic message. A mystic message of your arrival that is.
"A- are you there Xiao??" that typical small melodious voice called out to him. "Adeptus X- xiao?"
To honor his promise to you, he used his own adeptus arts to popped up right in front of you, unexpectedly close.
"You called?" unaware of human emotions, he was surprised to see you jump aback from him.
"Sorry." realizing he gave you a fright, he mustered up the courage in attempt to apologize for scaring your wits. You were super shy around people, conscious about your inability of engaging into conversations, and as a timid traveler, you wore a snow-white mask as you go.
Without that mask of yours, you wouldn't even be able to gather the courage to speak up. Therefore, the mask really means a lot. Don't even ask how you dine with others-

How did the fate of this super shy traveler enterwined across with the fate of an emo yaksha like Xiao? As an extremely non-sociable person, you tend to isolate yourself away from crowds, unable to handle the numbers of people present.
Exactly one year ago, you loved to sneak out to the top of the floor of Wangshu Inn. Most people tend not to go there because of Acrophobia but you love the breeze that visits the open balcony, dancing with fallen leaves.
One time, Ms. Verr stopped you from climbing up to that floor for a day because the wooden floor seem to collapse and break at any moment.
For your love of peace and quiet, you disobeyed her like a troublesome child and instead you climbed your way to the roof, partially also avoiding her naggings if she ever caught you there.
"What's a mortal doing here?" you jumped at the sudden voice that boomed from behind you. Losing your balance, you carelessly slipped on a loose tile from the roof. You fell from the edge.
Gasping yet to no avail your vocal chords refused to scream, you tried to reach out for something or someone but failed as you felt the pressure behind you increase. Maybe this wasn't so bad, after all, you're just too shy and couldn't even make a single friend. No one would miss you.
Just as you accepted your fall, you felt a pair of hands clenching tightly onto your arms and jade smoke surrounded you, seemingly teleporting you back to the top of Wangshu Inn's rooftop.
"What do you think you're doing?!" the voice sounds angry yet it was showing concern for you.
You turned back nervously to a boy, perhaps a little shorter than you, with fluffy yet spiky-looking jade green hair and teal undertones along with a pale enerald diamond on his forehead.
Cat-like pupiled eyes of the colour akin to the golden rays of sunset. Red makeup by ths edge of his eyes and a glowing tattoo by his right arm. Yet a small but noticeable glowing Anemo vision by his left wrist caught your attention as you too wield one of the kind.
"You dare not to answer?" realizing you've sunk into the image of a handsome boy before you, you quickly scurry back 3 steps from him. This time careful with each step.
Seeing you quiver and not responding to his questions, the boy raised a brow in amusement. "You... don't talk?" a hint of consideration in his voice, simultaneously lowering his tone too.
It was like making friends with a pet that refuses to accept the humankind.
Xiao isn't fond to be mixing with the mortals and those of their realm as karmic debt can be harmful to the human body but... he couldn't help but to confront you.

The silence you gave while being around him was unusually more comfortable and relaxing than with those of other beings. Maybe it's the influence of Anemo users but who knows?
"S-sorry.... too- shy......." you finally spoke up but it was barely audible.
"The floorings here are brisky enough for anyone to fall easily, so, why do you persist on coming up here...?" Xiao quizzed your being here.
"I... i like it h-here......" you trailed off, hugging your knees as you tried to relax yourself from the near-to-death fall. "It's s-o quiet here. I-i i thought that no o..one would c-come here."
"Lucky for you, an adepti stays by the roof of this very inn." he said, referring to himself. "You shouldn't stay here for too long or I'll bring nothing but regrets to you."
It's been awhile since you had a conversation holding this long
"I... bring regrets.... to others too...." you trailed off, clenching onto your Anemo vision, being reminded of some scars. "I... don't mind the p-ain....."
What things could've been done to you for you to brush off pain?
"It's getting late, you should really go back." Xiao stood up. "If... you wish to talk to me, just call out my name. Adeptus Xiao. And I will try to help you in any ways."
"T-then... see you t..omorrow...?"
"Sure."

"I- i heard the Yuheng..." you stumbled your sentence out, hopefully praying the practice was commendable. "M.. made the fireworks v-visible through a...ll of Liyue."
"S-so..." you shyly pulled out your handmade Xiao lantern and some sparklers in the other hand. The Xiao lantern wasn't the most prettiest or perfect lantern but you've poured your heart and soul into it. "Would y..you like t...o spend the L--antern Rite.... with me?"
"......"
"Alright then." Xiao sighed the tiniest smile at the small progress of your confidence in speech. "We can use these crystalflies to let the lantern fly into the air."
Remembering you forgot a lighter, you frantically panicked in search for a lighter or some sort of fire conductor.
"It's okay, really. I found myself picking these for... you anyways." He tried to reassure you but also realizing he said something he shouldn't disclosed of, his soft cheeks gradually burned up in the hues of a sunset.
Before you were able to catch on, the dozens of fireworks by the area went off. Exploding into a rich burst of colors like the pattern of flowers and also contributing to air pollution.
A moment of silence as you both admired the fireworks display show. The atmosphere filled with the booming and exploding sounds of fireworks taking place, accompanied with the toast of cheers way below by the inn as people toast for the new year and dig into Smiley Yanxiao's cookings.
"Today i-s actually the day that m..marks a year traveling and f-ighting alongside each other." though your smile wasn't visible, your eyes tell otherwise with an eye-smile. Your thumbs fiddled with each other as cold nervous sweat glistened your palm. "I-i hope you would c..continue to live on a-nd well... stay beside me as-"
"As long as you live." he finished off your sentence, placing his hands atop of your shaking ones to stop it tremble. "No matter what happens, just call out my name and I'll be there to assist you."
"Happy 1st Anniversary (Y/n)." He cupped your face as he look straight into your (e/c) eyes with those tender loving eyes.
"I... love you." he added, making the situation getting out of hand. His eartips and cheeks as pink as silkflowers as he inched slowly to you.
He kissed you by the lips but the barrier of your mask was in the way. Still, this is a big step.
In the end, your face was still bright red through the night and you couldn't stop thinking about Xiao's audacious... kiss.

If youre super shy or conscious about yourself not fitting in with others or cant bring youself to start up conversations or anything, just stop overthinking. It's hard to do this but really just go in straightforwardly in my pov, dw if mistakes are bound to happen, no one in the world is perfect, and seriously im bad in advice- and surround yourselves with friends youre comfortable with, dont force yourself if you dont want to, you can always challenge yourself another day
