"Redtail is dead!" a little black cat collapses on the ground. Icepaw instantly bristled, his ice eyes wide in shock.
Bluestar cried out, rushing over to a large tabby, who dropped a black tom with a bushy red tail on the ground.
"Tigerclaw," she cries. "What happened?"
Instantly I know that Tigerclaw is the cat who harmed me - the cat who I killed. "Don't trust him," I whisper to Firepaw.
Graypaw, who's been idly chatting with Firepaw for a while, speaks up. "He's Ravenpaw's mentor. They're so lucky, they got to attack River-" He's cut off by a loud hiss. "Sorry, Smallear," he mewed.
The tortoiseshell from Scourge's life burst out of the medicine cat den. "How did Ravenpaw get injured?"
Just then, Graypaw mrrowed with laughter. "Spottedleaf is Tigerclaw's aunt - and here I was thinking she was young."
As Tigerclaw explained what had happened, Icepaw had the strange urge to attack the tom. Before he could stop himself, he flung himself upon the cat who would become Tigerstar - unless Icepaw killed him before he got to it.
