"Okay, I trust you. I won't ask why an FBI agent is on board this bus," said Light.
'He saw it. He saw it. He saw it.' you thought to yourself. It was all over. You were on the verge of tears.
"Got a gun?" Light asked Penber.
"Yes, I do," he replied.
"So you'll take care of it if something happens?"
"Yes."
You wanted to slap Light across the face with all your might.
"Oops." Light dropped a crumpled piece of paper, and it landed on the aisle. He bent over to pick it up.
"Hey you!" the bus-jacker shouted, noticing Light. "Hold it! What's that paper?!"
He pointed his gun at Light, then walked towards him.
"Passing notes, ey? Tryin' to play something, are ya?" he said as he bent over to pick up the paper.
"Tch," he said as he read the paper. "Just some plans for a date. Drop something again and I'll shoot ya!"
Immediately after that, the bus-jacker started shouting in terror. The paper he had touched was a page from the Death Note, he could see Ryuk.
To everyone besides you and Light, he appeared to be hallucinating.
"He's hallucinating, he must be on drugs! Everybody get down!" Penber shouted.
The jacker started shooting at Ryuk.
Light put his arm around you as the two of you ducked.
Though both of your parents worked for Interpol, it was your first time seeing a gun being fired in real life. You were quite frightened.
The jacker ran out of bullets then ran to the bus driver. He shouted at him to stop the bus, then burst out of the doors.
You slowly peered out the window, and you saw the jacker scrambling out of the doors, as well as a a car approaching on high speed.
Suddenly, you felt a hand cover your eyes. It was Light. He quickly pulled you away from the window.
Light felt like he already put you through enough. He did not want you to see the grotesque manner in which that criminal would be leaving this world in.
"Exactly 11:45," you barely heard him mutter under his breath, as he looked at his watch.
Light suddenly stood up.
"Stay here, (F/N). I'll just go and take a look at the situation. Don't look outside, okay? It would be best if you didn't see the body," he said to you.
You nodded.
Light headed to the front of the bus, and met with Penber.
"Hey," he said.
"Yes?" replied Light.
"I'm actually in Japan on a top-secret mission and if the Japanese police...well..."
"I understand," said Light. "I won't tell anybody about meeting you. That includes my father, of course."
"Then I'm out of here. Don't want to be around when the police arrive," said Penber as he took off.
Light returned to where you were.
"Hey (F/N), I know we were all set to go to Space Land, but after something like this..." Light trailed off. He had never seen you look so dejected.
"Well if you're still up for it, do you still want to go? It's not a long walk from here," Light said to you.
Light thought you were acting strange. Knowing you, something like this should have amazed you in a certain sense. Being involved in a bus jacking was not something which happened every day, after all. He didn't think you were the type to get frightened by something like this. You also should've been excited over the fact that there was an FBI agent in Japan, and even more, he was behind you on the bus.
You definitely still wanted to go to Space Land, but you felt horrible because you failed to prevent Light from learning Penber's name.
'But precisely because I failed, I have to go to Space Land now. I have to get closer to Light. The closer I am to him, the more likely he'll be to listen to me in the future,' you thought.
"Of course I'm up for it!" you exclaimed, suddenly cheery.
'I see, she thought we weren't going to be able to go to Space Land anymore,' Light thought with a chuckle, and lightly patted your head.
"Well then, let's go before the police get here," he said grabbing your hand.
"Wow, we're horrible, aren't we? You're even the son of the NPA chief," you giggled.
The two of you entered the gates of Space Land.
"Wow! It's awesome!" your eyes sparkled.
You tried your best to forget about what happened earlier. There was nothing you could do about it for the moment, so you decided to just try to enjoy yourself for the time being.
"So, do you want to ride the roller coaster first?" Light suggested.
"Definitely!"
After riding the roller coaster, the two of you headed to the haunted house.
"I'm so excited! This is my first time going to a haunted house where you just walk instead of riding a cart," you said excitedly.
You and Light were standing in line for Space Land's haunted mansion.
"But won't it be scarier this way? You might get lost and run into a ghost," Light teased.
"There's no way it'll actually be scary. They're just people in costume," you told him. "If I get lost, I can even ask Mr. Ghost to help me find my way!" you added.
Light snickered at this.
"Oh look, we're next!" you exclaimed as the group of people in front of you entered the haunted house.
"Let's go," said Light, as the two of you walked through the door.
It was pitch black inside until suddenly, the lights flickered.
You were met with the sight of frightening statues and decorations which would be too grotesque to explain.
"Woah," you said in astonishment. "It looks so realistic!"
Suddenly, a hand reached out and tapped your shoulder.
You screamed in terror and clung to Light's arm.
"G-G-Ghost...." you said, terrified.
Light laughed at you.
"Weren't you the one who said that they were just people in costume?"
"Yes, I know that. It's the jumpscares that are scary! It was so shocking because I didn't know what to expect!"
After the haunted house, you rode the carousel, then the teacups, followed by the Anchors Away.
You rode the bumper cars alone while Light watched, as he insisted that he would not ride such a thing.
The sun set, then you were down to your final two rides. You rode the log ride first, then headed to the ferris wheel.
The two of you entered the ferris wheel cabin, and sat across each other.
"Wow! Space Land at night is so pretty! There are so many colorful lights," you said looking out the window as you rose off the ground.
"The best part is yet to come," said Light.
"What do you mean?" you asked, then you suddenly saw it.
Beautiful fireworks were launched into the sky.
"Oh! The parade!" you exclaimed.
The two of you watched the fireworks together from high up on the ferris wheel. When the fireworks ended, Light took something out of his pocket.
"I saw this at the store a while ago, and I thought it would suit you," Light said as he handed you a small gift box.
"For me?" you asked.
"Is there anyone else here?" Light laughed.
'Uh, yes. Giant shinigami. Kind of difficult to miss,' you thought to yourself with a chuckle.
You took the box from him and opened it. Inside was a lacey white hair bow with a jewel in the middle.
"Oh Light, it's so pretty. Thank you so much!" you smiled in delight.
Light really felt bad for involving you in the bus jacking this morning. He wanted to make it up to you any way he could, and this is the best he could come up with for now.
"Thank you, Light! Not just for this," you said, referring to the hair bow, "but for everything today. It was so much fun! I haven't had this much fun in ages."
"I had a great time as well, thanks for coming with me," he smiled.
Ryuk laughed in the background, ruining the mood. You and Light both pretended not to notice this, making Ryuk laugh even more.
