you've been miss venable's assistant for six months . work with her was really good , she was an amazing person and very smart , but that didn't seem to be something that was very recognized in the company.
she was normally very cruel to everyone around her , treating them very roughly but with you it was a little different .
miss venable obviously wasn't a sweet and totally kind person , but she had her moments and never yelled at you , always explained things to you patiently something that seemed to be non-existent for others.
you loved it , and you could feel that you were creating a friendship with the older woman .
she was the person you had the most contact inside the company but you didn't knew anything about her personal life, if she was married, had children, or why she used a cane.
even so you felt a huge admiration for the woman from the first day you met her , and you were probably very much in love with her by now.
your "strange" proximity to the woman , and the fact that whenever someone said something rude about her when you were present you defended her , made a lot of people not like you even giving you the nickname "venny's bitch".
there were also rumors that you would be having sex with her , and that was the only reason you were still in the company , as her assistants never lasted this long and they were humiliated all the time.
these rumors , and the stories from your past made people turn away from you , they would constantly whisper something when you walked by and many said you had gained weight , just because it was something they knew would obviously affect you.
this whole situation made you much worse , making your anorexia reach the limit , like the year your family found out and you were hospitalized .
the "good" part was that now you weren't a teenager anymore , and you spent the whole day outside , working from 8 am to 7 pm , and going to college only to get home at 11 pm.
it was a tiring routine but you were coping well , now it was july and you were on college vacation which made you relax a little.
during the last few months you started dating peter , he was in love with you since elementary school and tried convince you to give him a chance many times . you never liked him but your family seemed to love him more than tou , so after a lot of pressure you ended up accepting - even knowing that you were actually in love with someone else

it was another tedious day at work , you were reviewing some papers about robots and bla bla bla .
you certainly hated it , but you needed the work , so you kept going . you were almost finished when you got a call from miss venable asking you to go to her room
"miss venable ?"
you knocked twice on the door , and she quickly replied
"oh yes miss Y/L/N you can come in"
you walked in and sat opposite her desk . she had a worried expression , the two of you were silent for a few seconds when you finally dared to speak
"is something wrong , miss venable?"
she looked up making you turn
"probably yes dear . earlier this year just before you were hired , my former assistant had scheduled meetings with key european investors , they were since then scheduled to happen only next week . they would come here and everything would be resolved in LA , but it seems that before leaving she didn't tell me that the meetings were transferred to NY . so since jeff and mutt are idiots , i'm in charge of solving this and i will need to travel there to solve everything"
the pet name made you feel nervous , she had never called you that before , it was probably just because she was nervous , what made you feel guilty this was yours function , you should know about these meetings and everything.
"this looks awful miss venable, do you need me to fix something ? look for a hotel or things like that"
you said making her look at you again
"i actually need you to do more than that , i need you to accompany me there . will have a lot of things i need to organize , you're on vacation from college , right?"
"yes, but ..."
before finishing your sentence miss venable interrupted you.
"great ! and no buts , the company will pay for all the accommodation and tickets , you have nothing to worry about that . or for some reason you won't be able to go?"
"oh no miss venable, no problem",
" we'll leave this sunday , and we'll be there for two weeks , on sunday morning i'll stop by your house , so we can go together to the airport without delay ok ? you know how it pisses me off and you've been such a good girl about it this far . now write your address here so i know where to go"
she said then gave you a post it where you wrote your address but not without first getting a little shaky with her last words

you left the room a little nervous , spending two weeks with miss venable in NY would be a dream .
you had never been there so you were really happy too , you decided to call peter your boyfriend to tell him , and let him know you couldn't go to his party.
"hi baby"
he said in a drunken voice
"hey pete , hm listen , sunday i'll have to go to NY with miss venable . i'll be there for two weeks , i won't make it to your party"
it wasn't a birthday party or anything , he was just known for throwing lots of parties and this was the first since you both started dating , he wanted to show you to all of his friends from high school . everyone was talking about how you were the hardest girl to go out with , and him having achieved that , was a real victory.
"wait what ? just say you won't , i was so excited to show you"
"pete i can't not go , i just called to let you know . it's my job"
you said already annoyed . when you agreed to date him you really thought he would be cooler but he had only pissed you off more

you hung up the call , and focused on doing your work . it was friday which meant the trip would be in two days , you didn't work weekends so you'd have time to pack your stuff

you said throwing some weird heart pants on him

"and i swear , you're going to spend two weeks with miss venable in NY , don't be a sucker and kiss her"
thomas was the only one who knew of your crush on her , and constantly made annoying jokes
"oh right i kiss her but then you get me a new house and a job"
you said going to lie down beside him on your bed
"seriously you don't think she likes you a little ? not like you of course , cause then she would be obsessed"
you pushed him and rolled your eyes
"i don't know , she's really nice to me . i wish she would like me back but she probably has a cute boyfriend in a suit and sweet blonde kids waiting for her at home with cute drawings and getting ready to go out to have dinner at a fancy french restaurant"
"you're insane . where did you get this idea from ?"
"it's just what it seems . she'll never love me back"
"i don't think , she probably loves you just doesn't want to admit it just like you"

tomas hated pete, he thought the boy was a terrible boyfriend and a horrible person since high school but you didn't really care , your family was happy so it was good for you
"oh jesus christ i hate him , he's soooo annoying"
you said getting up and putting some pieces that were on the bed in the suitcase
"so do us both a favor and break up with him , oh and lose your virginity with mina"
mina was the nickname you had given her in your head , it was stupid but she would kill you if she heard you calling her that
"stop being stupid tomas . help me here , get that pile of clothes for me"
he got up complaining , and helped you pack the rest of your stuff.
