Maris POV
I don't know if God created Monday's to be this stressful I wondered shutting the door behind me. I just got back from school and believe me when I say GHA is full of Drama, Tv shows, soap operas. Gosh! I also heard a student went missing, I feel for her parents, the roads are no longer safe.
It's my turn to cook, I don't even think I have the strength to lift the pot lid, looks like I'll have to call for help.
"Elle!!"
"What!"
"Please come!" That's the only way she can help me, coming down to realise I need a hand in the kitchen.
"What is it?" She asked poking her head through the kitchen door
"Come first"
She came in and walked to me, "What?"
"Come and assist me in the kitchen, please"
"Okay" she agreed immediately sitting down on the counter
I couldn't help but ask, "Just like that?"
"Yes and I'm going to get you the things you need, nothing more"
"Okay" Not like I have a choice at least there's a company, "please pass me the salt"
"Here"
"Did you hear?" I asked her while turning the gas on
"Hear what?"
"Ah! Are you sure you even go to school? Well a student is missing"
"Oh! That news"
Seems like she heard too.
"Hmm, I feel sorry for her parents. The roads are no longer safe oh, I'll tell Dad when he gets back"
She chuckled, "I don't think you heard well"
"Meaning?"
"Well the student got missing on the school premises"
The pot lid dropped from my hand thereby hitting the floor causing a loud noise, the little strength I've gathered to lift this lid has just gone like that
Recovering from the shock I said, "How are you so sure Elle, students would say anything just to spoil the School's name"
"Daily, I wonder if you are my sister. I think I'll have to ask Mom and Dad"
"I'm sorry about this morning I don't know what came over me" I begged
"You'll tell them the whole truth that's the only way I think I can forgive you and what you did this morning was absurd"
"I know but how you've not done anything to me yet is quite shocking"
"Don't be so sure sister?" She asked wearing a wicked expression and grinning wickedly
"I already apologized!"
"Well I'm letting this one go but not the next one"
"Thanks" she's been acting strange lately, I don't think my heart can accept whatever she's planning
"What would you do if I leave?"
"Do you plan on running away with your boyfriend!!"
She slapped my arm, "ouch that hurt"
"Just answer the question"
"It depends on the reason you are leaving. If you are leaving because you are running away with your boyfriend, I'll be so angry at you at the same time happy for you" I said giving her my first reason and moving away from her you don't know when that slap is going to land
"Why would you be angry at me?"
"Well because you are leaving the whole house chores for me! Who do you expect to do them!?"
Using her hands to motion at me, she said "Come, come closer"
I'm not receiving that slap "I have to be truthful and realistic, Okay!?" I yelled at her from the other side of the Kitchen, "so no beating, deal?"
"Second reason"
I'll take that as a Yes
"Second reason could be for University, I wouldn't get too mad at you because you'll be back for the holidays but"
Cutting me off, she said "The time you would get mad at me would be about 'Who would do the whole house chores for the period you are gone"
"I don't know about me being your sister but you are my sister," I said coming closer to her pulling her into a hug.
While patting my back she asked, "What if I was the one that got missing instead of that student?"
I left her immediately saying" First, that's ridiculous. Second, you need to stop listening to rumours okay? Third, you wouldn't go missing in Jesus name" I waited for an Amen, "won't you say Amen"
"I'm going to my room, please"
"Amen!! My sister will not be missing in Jesus name, Amen!! Since your mouth can't say Amen, I'll help you"
She smiled, " My sister will have sense one day in Jesus name, Amen!"
"So that's your prayer point? Yeah, Tina would be coming over" I told her
"Why?"
"We have an assignment to work on"
"Okay. When dishing out my food, add two pieces of meat, one under the rice and the second one on top of the rice. I'll be eating in my room" She instructed me and left for her room.
"Look at her mouth like two meat"
"I heard you!" She yelled
Channelle's POV.
I couldn't find my second meat while eating, we'll discuss that soon. I heard the doorbell ring that should be Tina, two rats in one house!
knock knock
Opening the door, Tina poked her head in "Hi Channelle"
"Hey Tina, where's Maris?"
Closing the door she said "She went to the next-door neighbour to ask for some materials"
"Oh! Come sit" I said Patting the bed
"Thanks, Nice room" she complimented looking around
"Maris helped a little bit," I said smiling
"You don't have to listen to Vanessa's threat, Okay? She's quite dangerous but I'm sure she wouldn't do something like that" She assures me
"I know but I have to be careful around her, she shouldn't be underestimated"
"Yeah, everyone has to be careful," she said looking sad
"I heard about the girl"
"I saw her this morning, wasn't looking okay," she told me getting more comfortable on the bed
"What do mean?" I asked trying to fix the puzzle I created in my head
"She looked like she was in pains, suffering from home and her backpack was a little heavier" she continued
"No way!"
She sniffed "she told me she was going to run away from home and she knew the teachers weren't going to care probably blame it on Mr X"
"Oh no! So this means the year isn't closed, Mr X still has to kidnap a student which is me" I said completing the puzzle
"You know about it?" She asked looking surprised
"Yes, I had to know. Did you tell Maris about the Missing Student?"
She chuckled "Your sister is something else"
I laughed "I know, sometimes she makes me wonder if she's my sister"
"She gives no choice," She said smiling
"I feel she's just too ignorant about these things"
"Don't worry, I'll be on the lookout for her"
"She got herself a good friend"
"Of course she did," she said arranging her hair in the mirror
"Can we keep this between us?" I asked
Looking at me through the mirror she asked, "Which?"
"Both"
"Sure!" She said picking up a body spray
"Thanks for today"
"I'm glad I was able to help"
We heard the front door bang, "I have to go"
"I'm sure you can teach your friend tips on how to close doors. Bye!"
This means I'm still getting kidnapped, I need a plan
~Dinner~
"Good evening Dad,Mom" I said drawing a chair out to seat down
"Good evening parents" Maris said smiling happily
"Good evening children" Mom replied with the same smile
Everyone is smiley today, except me
"Channelle" Dad called out
"Yes Dad"
"Pass me the plate please"
"Here," I said giving him the plate
"Your Mother told me you have a boyfriend," He said smiling at me, not the usual smile
I looked at Maris but she was busy with her food, I stepped on her, "Ouch!" she exclaimed looking at me, I motioned to our parents.
"Oh! About that, Mom I'm sorry Channelle doesn't have a boyfriend, was just trying to get on her nerves" Maris explained
"Really?" Mom asked smiling
Gosh! Mom knew she was joking all this while, I figured out
"Yes or Channelle do you have any that we don't know of" Maris asked grinning
This Rat
Smiling sweetly, I said "No I don't"
"Good. Well there's good news!" Dad announced
"Good news! What's the good news Papa?" Maris asked
"Why not guess honey" Mom suggested
"Oh, common Mom!" Maris whined
"You love good news! So guess. Common Channelle guess" Mom insisted
"I'll go first," I said
"Let's hear what you have to say," Maris said relaxing back on her chair
"Somebody is paying us a Visit" I guessed
"Lame" Maris retorted
"Let's hear yours then," Dad said
Clapping happily she said, "We'll be visiting Grandpa!"
"Lame" I retorted
Dad chuckled "Channelle guessed right"
I clapped while she pouted
"So who's coming to visit in this ungodly moment?" Maris asked
I laughed "Ungodly moment indeed, I'm sure that person didn't plan on visiting us"
"Exactly, who visits us during school days!"
"Well that person who's visiting us in this ungodly moment is no other person than!"
"Drum roll please," Mom said
"Is no other person than!-Uncle Harry!!"
Maris stood up screaming, screaming like rat that was pushed inside hot water. "When is he coming!?" She asked trying to control her excitement
"Tomorrow," Dad told her
She kept dancing around, screaming, muttering words to her herself I'm sure she's making a list of things to buy in her head
"Aren't you happy?" Mom asked me touching my arm
"I am" I smiled widely, I think I have a plan.

Halo, guess Maris wasn't her comforter.
Seems Uncle Harry is good news indeed.
