(Weeks later, Hyrule Castle)
"With the Calamity coming soon, we need to find the Champions for the swords", King Rhoam stated, "I have word that Korok Forest is under attack, head out and free the forest with caution",
"Father, would it be alright if I assist the other Champions", Zelda asked
"...Very well, as long as Link is by your side", King Rhoam said
"May I also accompany sis", Kate asked
"...No, you've held off your duties long enough", King Rhoam stated
"But father...", Kate began
"I will not change my mind, your waywardness will lead you to being the Queen of nothing", King Rhoam stated sternly, Kate knew that it was pointless to argue and stormed out of the Throne room, ignoring whatever else was going on
"You ok", Link asked, walking up to her
"Why was I given the life of a princess", Kate asked in anger
"Let me guess, you're stuck here", Link asked
"Yep, while you all are off fighting, I'm trapped", Kate muttered, anger in her tone
"Hasn't stopped you before", Link stated with a small smile
"True", Kate said, her anger going away, not long after, Zelda approached the two
"Link, it's time to head out, I'm sorry sis, I tried to change his mind", Zelda said, looking down at the ground
"It's alright", Kate reassured, Zelda only nodded her head as she walked away
"Why not tell her", Link asked
"Let's keep it a surprise for now", Kate asked with a smile
"I'll leave Epona here for you, good luck and be careful", Link said
"Thanks, see you soon", Kate said as the two went their separate ways, entering the library, she immediately opened up the secret passageway, and entered inside, closing it behind her, entering the guard's quarters, she grabbed her sword and made her way toward the entrance, to the stables where Link's horse waited for her
"Hey, Epona, we're going to head out and make our way to Link, you ready", Kate asked, opening the stable door, Epona responded by walking out and toward the entrance, she soon got on and both rode off.
(Meanwhile, Korok Forest)
"Hyrule's king chose us to perform this pivotal task", Revali stated, "it will be my honor to excel, as always", Revali then turned his head toward Link, "then there's you, the one part that doesn't add up, why should this nobody be trusted to lead us in the coming battle",
"It doesn't matter who's the leader, we're all in this together, right", Daruk asked
"You are, of course, mistaken, my Divine Beast is the key", Revali gloated, "well... my one comfort is that your reputation... will be completely ruined once you fail, the fallen knight, heh, heh",
"Revali, how long do you expect us to put up with your prattle, huh", Urbosa asked
"Besides, your Divine Beast will open the pathway for us to enter the forest", Kate announced, alerting the group to her presence, "sorry I'm late",
"You're just on time, little bird", Urbosa reassured
"I'm glad you're here, sis", Zelda said with a smile, walking up and hugging Kate
"Wouldn't miss it", Kare responded with a smile, returning Zelda's hug
"Enough said, the time has come to show you what I'm made of, now witness... Vah Medoh's divine power", Revali stated, flying up to the Divine Beast, beginning to clear a way into the woods
"Glad you came, another minute and I would've gone off", Link muttered
"No, you wouldn't", Kate stated
"Alright, I can't... but one day", Link said as Kate nodded her head
"All clear over here", Revali shouted
"Ok, let's go", Zelda said, the group running into the forest later slowing to a walk once the fog rolled in, making it hard to see
"This is quite the fog", Mipha stated
"Are we even making progress, we could just be going in circles", Revali complained
"Good point, if only someone could fly above and scout the way", Daruk retorted
"As though I could see anything through this muck", Revali sneered, "Honestly, do you ever think before you speak",
"Getting lost is the least of our worries", Urbosa stated, "if something attacked us, we wouldn't see it coming",
"Yes, we must be prepared for even the most unusual...", Zelda began, only for she and the others to see a giant Korok holding maracas
"Shaka", the Korok shouted, "Finally, finally, somebody sees me",
"Where'd you come from", Daruk asked
"And who... are you", Zelda asked
"I am the Korok who brings song and dance to Korok forest, Hestu", Hestu introduced
"A Korok", Mipha asked, confused
"That's great, mind guiding us through the fog, then", Daruk asked
"I'd love to get home myself... but there are scary and mean monsters in the woods, and I can't get past them", Hestu explained
"You'd be able to get past if you dropped those noisy maracas", Revali stated
"Oh, never mind him", Urbosa retorted, "we have business in the forest, if you lead the way, we can handle the monsters for you",
"In that case, follow, follow", Hestu said, the group following the giant Korok further into the woods, where Stal-monsters roamed, doing their duty, the group began fighting the monsters, and making their way toward the Great Deku Tree, there the Master Swords lie, but what shocked everyone, malice lied near the entrance, forcing the group to separate and rid the malice, once taken care of, Link, Kate, and Zelda ran forward, the swords were in sight, and so was a mysterious man, Astor, holding up an orb, Malice arose, taking form of the Champions
"Zelda, stay back", Kate said as she and Link ran forward, taking on the Malice Champions, only for them to disappear
"What's going on", Link asked, both Link and Kate were back-to back, looking around, then, the Malice Champions ambushed the two, breaking their swords and hitting them away from Zelda, toward the Master Swords
"Link, Kate", Zelda shouted
"Kill her", Astor ordered, the Malice Champions began advancing toward Zelda
"No... sis", Kate muttered, she and Link getting up
"ZELDA", both Link and Kate shouted, the swords emitting a bright light, the Malice Champions disappearing, not long after, the light died down
"Master... Mistress...",
"What just happened", Link asked, both turning to the swords
"Did you also hear a voice", Kate asked, Link only nodded his head, both grabbing the hilt of the swords and successfully pulling them out, without second thought, both turned toward the man, swords pointed at him, sending out the Malice Champions again, both made quick work of them, eventually, Astor began to fight the two, but underestimated Link and Kate no amount of Malice Champions even helped him, underwhelmed, Astor fled the scene
"Link, Kate", Zelda called out, running toward the two, the Champions finally arriving
"You alright", Kate asked
"I should be asking you both that", Zelda stated
"We're fine", Link said, not long after, a noise was heard, Link, Kate, and Zelda stood on the platform in front of the Swords pedestal
"Great Deku Tree", Zelda said as the Korok's gathered around the Great Deku Tree
"All is well", the Great Deku Tree explained, "the swords you hold is the key to defeating the Calamity, to sealing the darkness, young heroes, you both have been chosen by the sword to wield its power and vanquish the Calamity
Link and Kate began observing the swords, Zelda also observed, then turned her gaze toward her hand,
"And you, Young Princess", the Great Deku Tree said, "do not lose hope, the path will open for you soon",
"I see", Zelda said
"Forgive me, a deep slumber beckons me, and even I cannot refuse", the Great Deku Tree stated, "you have all that is needed to face whatever destiny awaits, Hyrule's fate... is in your hands",
"Don't worry, sis, none of us are going to give up on you", Kate reassured, putting her hand on her shoulder
"Thanks, but it's time to head back", Zelda said as Kate sighed
"Yeah... not looking forward to the lecture", Kate muttered, earning a laugh from Zelda as the group returned home
(Hyrule Castle)
the road home was besieged, making the journey longer than expected, the good out of it, Zelda was able to collect some relics, and fully remember Terrako, but after a long battle, the group returned to the castle
"Father, we're back, and we've found the Hylian Champions", Zelda announced
"Excellent, would they please step forward", King Rhoam asked, both Link and Kate looked at each other, nodding their heads, then stepped forward, showing the king the Master Swords, to which, the king was in shock
"The role of a Champion will be hard, but I believe you both will be just fine", King Rhoam stated, "everyone is dismissed, Kate... please stay", everyone left the Throne Room, closing the doors behind them, "Kate, you deliberately disobeyed me",
"I had good reason too", Kate stated
"...I know, your role of Champion proves it, I am also considering of having you lead the Champions", King Rhoam explained
"I'm afraid I must decline", Kate said, shocking King Rhoam, "as a Champion, it would seem unfit for me to lead, if I may ask, please, let Zelda lead... she's brought the team together, it would only be fair that she would lead us",
"I will give it thought, but tomorrow, you will not be allowed to leave, your duties come first, you're dismissed", King Rhoam stated as Kate nodded her head and left the Throne Room
