Dates and dress fittings

Blossom's POV
"What do you think?" Asteria asked, looking at me sceptically as I looked at the dress myself in the mirror
It was beautiful. Gorgeous even
But it was so dark.
I don't know if I'll be able to get used to this... demon thing
I wasn't dark. Or scary. I wasn't able to hold myself with the same stoic attitude everyone seemed to hold.
"It's lovely" I said
"Hmm" she thought, before she circled me
"I think this one will do. All the others are rather... drab. And this brings out your complexion quite well" she said
"Um... Thankyou? I said confused.
She smiled, but it was a bitter one. One that didn't seem real, one that seemed more like a expression of amusement at me
"Right. Maria, pin where needed... then get it off. Don't want it ruined before the big event" she ordered
The maid nodded, before rushing up to the little stage I was on and beginning to pin the dress where needed.
Before Asteria just left me.
I felt a little abandoned
This was my first time being left here without Sin, and I know I shouldn't rely on him all the time. But when it came to hell... I had no shame in admitting I needed him here.
"It's good enough I suppose"
I jumped slightly from the intrusion of a new voice in the room
I looked in the mirror and saw Keane was in the doorway behind me
With a smirk on his face.
"Thank you" I said simply
I didn't want any part in his games
"You must be careful as a new queen" he warned casually
I sighed slightly
"Why?" I asked, indulging him.
"Because dressed like that... you may attract certain attention you don't want. Sin might have a run for his money" he chuckled, looking me up and down
I turned around, looking at him for a moment.
For an intimidating man, he really did where his emotions on his sleeve
He obviously never meant to. I don't think he knows how much he lets slip in his words.
"Thankyou for your concern Keane. But what I wear has no correlation to my ability to rule a kingdom. Nor is it my problem what people begin to think of me because of my attire. But I can agree with you on one thing" I said confidently.
"And what might that be my queen?" He asked
"It is certainly unwanted attention" I said simply, turning back around
I didn't want anyone's attention, especially not his.
I was going to be a queen. And to be a queen... I needed the confidence. Even if I didn't truly believe myself when I spoke.
I was here to support Sin. I was here to comfort and help him in whatever he needed to become the man he wanted to be.
Keane chuckled at my words
"Always a pleasure" he said simply, before walking off
I refrained from rolling my eyes
Even if he was annoying, I'm not that kind of person.
I didn't bite back. I never wanted to. But lately... the more time I spend down here the more I realise that it's needed in this world.
People were never going to respond to kindness down here. And that thought saddened me
That this world had gotten so used to cruel behaviour and being treated badly, that they now expected it.
It had become the norm.
The norm to hate each other, hate other species, hate the monarchy and hate the world itself.

"You like the dress?" Sin asked as we walked back to the pack house
I nodded
"Yeah, it's beautiful, are you excited for your fitting?" I asked.
Sin all dressed up in a suit

"Not really, dads drove me mad with the suit fitting for that coronation" he groaned.
"Yeah" I drawled out
"Two crownings at one time isn't the best decision we've ever made" I laughed
Being crowned queen of the wolves and then queen of the demons wasn't what I had planned in my head for my future.
But Sin changed all that
He changed my outlook on the future
I now had hope that we could make a difference
That we could bring two kingdoms together.
"No, but I wouldn't change it, we're in too deep to change it anyway" he chuckled
"Yeah" I smiled
"Has Toby calmed down since yesterday?" I asked.
He was livid with Sophie, and as far as I knew, he'd been ignoring her ever since
"No, he's still mad at mom, and he's been cooped up in his room all night with Maisie apparently" he said.
"I hope they're doing okay" I said
"What do you mean?"
"Well not all mates click straight away. Look at Raven and Micah" I said
"Yeah... she didn't want anything to do with him" he chuckled sadly, remembering.
"Hey" I said, pulling him to a stop
"She loved him. She just didn't want to admit it. And he loved her. More than she ever knew she needed" I said
I also felt sad. I missed both of them
But I regret the fact that they never got the proper time to connect.
I think given enough time, Raven would have opened up.
Micah was a pure soul. He loved and loved until he had nothing left.
And the look in his eyes could tell anyone how he felt about her.
"Yeah... but Toby reacts to Maisie a lot more intensely than most wolves do with their mates" he commented. I could hear the worry in his voice
But as much as I loved Sin. For every perfection and fault... Toby wasn't like him.
Toby was calmer. It took a lot to push him to a breaking point.
"Well he does have alpha blood" I thought out loud.
"Yeah but. You should have seen the way he fidgeted yesterday and that's just because he wasn't with her" he said.
Well... that's a new one.
"It's natural for mates to want to be near each other" I said
"I know, but Toby's just... a bit too intense right now" he mumbled worriedly
"I think he's just overthinking about what your mom said, maybe he's got those thoughts in his head and he's trying to show Maisie she's good enough. It's adorable the way he looks at her" I smiled.
Toby truly did deserve some happiness.

The next morning I had come downstairs to chaos
Me and Sin had took to a cosy night in, opting to stay in the pack house for the night, enjoying all the little moments together seeing as soon we'll get swamped with duties and balls and lunches, responsibilities, meetings and royal visits.
But the kitchen... the mess I had stumbled into after waking up and traipsing downstairs to get Sin a drink for when he wakes up...
The pans... the food... Toby frantically running around in the midst of it all.
"Toby... what's going on?" I asked, looking around confused
"Bloss, thank god, I don't know what to do" he said
"Uh... why?"
"Maisie's still sleeping. I thought I'd make her breakfast but I can't cook Bloss. I can't even make toast without burning it" he stressed.
"Why are you making breakfast Toby?" I asked
"Because I want to make a good impression, I mean she likes me. But what if she goes off me. What if I do something wrong? What if she hates that I can't cook? Or that I don't like certain things? What if she thinks I'm immature Bloss? I'd hate to do it but I'll give up my annual pass to the wizarding world of Harry Potter if I have to. I can't lose her" he ranted, pacing back and forth through the mess he'd made.
"Toby you won't lose he-"
"I'm not an adult Bloss! I don't own a bread maker!" He shouted
"You are a- Toby..." I deadpanned
"Having a bread maker doesn't make you an adult" I pointed out.
"Oh so what should I do? Show her my Lego builds? My lord of the rings trilogy? My wolfs not even that big and everyone knows wolf size matters-"
"Will you quit it!" I interrupted him
"Take a breath and calm down" I ordered.
He did so, sitting down at the island and staring at the table in front of him
"What if she doesn't like me Bloss?" He mumbled, staring at his hands
"Toby" I sighed, slumping over to the island, opposite him.
"She will love you. She will love every single thing about you. Because you are funny, you are smart, you are protective and she is lucky to have someone like you in her life" I said honestly.
"You really think so?" He asked sadly
"I know so. Maisie's your mate. She was made for you. She was made for your quirks and your jokes. She was made for all these little things that you seem to think are bad about you" I said
"I mean... you already like everything about her don't you?" I asked.
He nodded
"More than like. The way she smiles. The way she laughs, she loves sports and sushi and the way her nose crinkles up when she smiles is just... what?" He asked, finally catching my eye
"Nothing, just never thought I'd see the day you turned into a love sick pup" I chuckled.
"I know" he said, taking my hands in his
"It must be hard for you and all the other ladies that I'm now off the market, knowing that..." he visibly shivered
"That you're stuck with Sin. But I'm sorry Bloss, it can never be, all these girls, they'll just have to find someone else. Because I've found the most perfect girl in the entire world" he sighed happily.
"I'm sure they're all heartbroken as we speak" I said, rolling my eyes.
"So the need for all this was?" I asked
He shrugged
"I wanted to make her breakfast, show her I can be useful" he said.
"Okay, then breakfast she'll get" I said, rolling up the sleeves of Sin's hoodie
"You'll help me?" He asked
I nodded
"But you don't tell her you had help" I said pointedly.
"Thankyou, you are the best!" He said happily, jumping up from the stool
It was sweet, trying to impress her
It reminded me of mine and Sin's early days.
Trying to impress each other and get close to each other.
"Pancakes?" I suggested
Keane's POV
"What do you want Mr Darrows?" One of the witches asked
"Not much, just a spell or two" I said casually, leaning against the doorway
Bunch of morons were locked up years ago, now all they were good for were whining like banshees or selling spells for the right price.
"No. We refuse to help you anymore" one said
"Yeah, you never pay up" a young girl shouted, sticking her tongue out at me
"Boo hoo, I'll pay this time" I said
"Quite generously as well" I said, pulling a coin out and flipping it up in the air
Their eyes followed its every movement
They all traded down here
But money. Money got you anywhere
"If we were interested... what kind of spell is it you're wanting?" The older one asked, nearing the bars.
There. Hooked
I almost smiled at their idiocy
"I need a love potion" I said.
I know I know, it's been way too long to wait for an update, I'm trying my best 😭
