Rosemary's P.O.V

For the last two days, I had been messaging back and forth with Violet's parents without her knowing. Sneaky behavior around Violet was dangerous. Every time I got a response from her parents, I panicked if Violet was around. I could tell that it was bothering her but surprisingly, she was containing herself from lashing out at me. Occasionally, she asked who I was texting and I told her it was either Lola or friends from my previous school.

As much as she was fighting to not start a fight over it, I could see it eating at her. So I felt terrible for putting her through it.

If all happened as planned, it was all going to be worth it and Violet was going to know the whole truth.

Violet always wanted to bond with her parents. For them to make time for her. Feel loved by them. What I had in mind was to arrange for Mr. and Mrs. Delaney to clear out their busy schedules for an afternoon to take Violet out.

So far, their schedules were not matching up. They both couldn't seem to clear it around the same time. Nonetheless, I was not giving up. Little by little, we were getting somewhere.

Violet was going to be ecstatic!

Sending my response to Mrs. Delaney, I turned the corner, not realizing that someone was running down the hallway. Trampled over, I landed my butt on the ground and my phone went flying a few feet away from me.

"Baby!" To my bad luck, it was Melanie. Not giving me time to get up, she straddled me. Nope! If Violet saw this, ww3 would start.

"What part of I don't like you, don't you understand?" At this point, I didn't care if I was too harsh. I pushed her off as hard as I could. As if she were riding a bull, she straddled me forcefully.

As if it were a game, Melanie giggled, "So you like it rough, huh?" She found entertainment in it.

Sitting up, I tried to push her off. "I'm seriously considering getting a restraining order on you!" I gave her another push and tried wiggling away from underneath her. "I don't want you and never will!" I hissed, fighting her off.

Giggling, she gripped my wrists and forced me to lay back on the ground. "Ah but you will!" How did she not see anything wrong with this? She could not force me to be with her!

"Melanie, you're crazy and need fuckin' help!" Frustrated, I used all my strength to escape her grip. I didn't actually believe that she was going to take it too far but still, I didn't want her touching me in any way.

I sat up way too fast and my face almost hit hers since she was still straddling me. Forcefully, Melanie cupped my face and pressed her lips on mine. Disgusted by her unwanted kiss, I scratched her hands with my nails to get her off.

"What the fuck?" Violet's voice growled. In a heartbeat, Melanie was yanked off and went flying against the wall. In case Melanie tried coming back on me, I crawled backwards. In complete and utter shock, I remained on the floor as I processed it.

"Bitch!" Melanie retorted, gaining people's attention, who were now hurrying to see what the fuss was about.

"Oh you're about to see me be a real bitch in a second!" Gripping Melanie by the collar of the school button down uniform shirt, Violet forced her up, keeping her against the wall. My heart stopped when I saw Violet swing at Melanie.

Smack!

She slapped her across the face. The heavy slap turned Melanie's face. Oh thank god it was a slap and not a punch. I sighed out of relief but only a little because I still hated that it got to this point. People started running to watch them fight. Instigating it, they chanted and cheered for Violet to slap her again and for Melanie to return the slap.

A visible handprint was on Melanie's stinging red cheek. Anger filled her expression. "Fuck you, Violet!" Melanie returned the slap. Violet's face didn't turn as much as Melanie's did. Shocked that Melanie actually dared to slap her back and the fact that her face was messed up, Violet gasped, looking like she was about to murder someone.

When I saw her get hit, I quickly stood up to stop them but an idiot held me back. "Rosemary, we don't gang up on people here!" He laughed mockingly. Someone else helped him hold me back since I was trying to kick him off.

"Hit me again, bitch!" Melanie challenged, thinking that'd intimidate Violet.

If anything it was going to make Violet go even more ballistic. Someway or another, I had to escape these two idiots who were restraining me. Harder, I tried getting loose. They were stronger than I was though.

Violet laughed angrily, "Oh my pleasure, whore!" Violet swung again but this time punched her. Pained, Melanie yelped. Blood dripped from her nose as the crowd went crazy and loud.

"Holy shit!" Amused, Edgar stared wide-eyed. "Bets right now!" Quick with it, he started collecting money and bets. People started holding $100 bills out and shouting who they were betting on. Violet's name was the only one being thrown out there.

"My nose! You stupid slut!" Furious, Melanie swung back at Violet but this time, Violet leaned back. Barely, Melanie touched her face. Only scratching her slightly.

"You fuckin' scratched me?" Violet's jaw clenched. Everyone knew to not mess with her face. One of the things she took care of the most. "You're dead now!" Gripping Melanie's collar with both her hands, Violet forced her down to the ground and straddled her. Melanie reached up to scratch her face but Violet leaned back slightly and pushed her hands away.

Violet looked possessed!

"More bets on Violet?" Edgar was loving this way too much. "Anyone wants to be the first to bet on Melanie?" He asked, trying to make it more entertaining.

Violently, Violet punched Melanie. My heart pounded rapidly against my chest. Unable to do anything, I felt hopeless. "She's going to kill her! Let me go!" I tried wiggling out of the idiot's grip.

"We will when it's over," the idiot snickered.

"If you don't let me go, I'm going to kick you in the little balls!" I threatened.

"Try to and we'll zip tie your ankles," he warned.

Helpless, I groaned.

Violet let her guard down for a second and Melanie took advantage of it to reach up. Successfully, she grabbed handfuls of Violet's hair and managed to get her off. Trying her hardest, Melanie tried climbing on top of her but Violet wouldn't let it happen. Desperately, Melanie tried pulling Violet down by the hair and tried to kick her.

"Hair pulling is all you got?" Mockingly, Violet taunted while trying to remove Melanie's hands from her hair. "Fight a real fight, bitch!" and with that said, Violet swung at Melanie's ribs, knocking the wind out of her.

Coughing, Melanie had no other choice but to let go of Violet's hair. Seeing that Melanie was defenseless, Violet stopped mid way at punching her and backed away.

Everyone froze, anticipating what was going to happen next. The idiots loosened their grip on me. I kneed one of them in the balls and watched as he cried like a little baby as he fell to the ground.

I ran to Violet, "We have to go!"

Looking down at Melanie, Violet ran a hand through her hair.

"Mel!" Nick and Chantel ran to help her up.

Blood still dripped from her nose. "Fuck," cursing under his breath, Nick used his tie to wipe off her blood. Concern filled his expression. I could see that he didn't like to see Melanie so badly injured.

"I didn't know, Mel!" Chantel excused, looking like she felt guilty for not being here to help her. Both her and Nick appeared when it had ended.

"I'm taking you to the nurse," Nick helped Melanie up. The crowd complained about it being over. "Shut the fuck up!" Nick snapped on them. "Get the fuck out the way!" He had one arm around Melanie to help her walk.

In panic, Violet asked me, "I went too far, didn't I?"

"You should have walked away," I tried fixing her hair.

Lucy and Rachel came running to Violet, "Are you okay?" Rachel examined her face.

"Don't worry, you only have a small scratch!" Lucy assured to wave off her worries.

I looked closely and saw that she had a deep scratch on her neck. "You have another one on your neck that needs to be disinfected," I pointed out.

Violet sighed, "I need to be alone."

"Alone?" The last thing I wanted to do was let her go off by herself, especially after what just happened.

Violet nodded, "I didn't want to react that way and I just need to go cool down," she explained. "I'm fine though," she assured.

"Okay but don't hesitate to call me if you need anything," I was going to be left worried.

Violet looked out of it. Like if a million things were running through her mind. Maybe she felt bad for Melanie but she had to remember that Melanie had part of it too. As much as I wish they hadn't fought, Melanie was getting out of hand. I felt harassed by her and it made me uncomfortable.

-

Violet's P.O.V

Melanie was always harassing Rosemary. For a while, she had stopped... kinda. Now, she was back at it and I didn't understand why all of a sudden. When I saw Melanie forcing herself on Rosemary, I completely lost it. It was as if the devil had entered my body and all I wanted to do was see blood. I wanted to protect Rosemary but ended up taking it too far.

The moment I saw Melanie gasping for air, it sunk in what I had done. Blood dripped from her nose to her clothes. The white uniform shirt made it even that more noticeable.

I never thought I'd hurt Melanie this badly. It made me sad because we used to be best friends back in middle school. I fought other girls when they messed with her instead. Back when we had karate lessons, we'd get in trouble because instead of fighting each other in practice, we'd only laugh and could not land a hit on each other.

At the nurse's office, I stopped when I saw Nick walking out.

"What are you doing here?" He looked worried that I was there to start more trouble.

"I need to talk to Melanie," I stated. "And don't worry, I'm not here to fight," I clarified. As much as Nick was my friend, I knew how much he cared for Melanie.

Hesitantly, he pursed his lips together, "I'll be back in half an hour to check up on her."

"Thank you," I appreciated it.

"I'll make sure that Chantel doesn't interrupt," he walked past me.

Cautiously, I walked into the nurse's office. Melanie had a nosebleed plug in as she held an ice pack to her eye. The moment, she saw me, she froze.

"I come in peace," showing her that I was harmless, I lifted my hands up.

"Okay because I was about to say, I already tapped out," she joked.

I went for a small ice pack and placed it on my neck. Not that it was going to do anything to a fuckin' scratch. Kinda just did it to make it seem like she at least did something to me.

"Does it hurt?" I asked her, which was a stupid question.

She shrugged, "The pain is just for show," at least she still had jokes.

I chuckled, "Kinda like my ice pack," I put it down instead. Melanie stared at her ice pack and put it back on her eye. Yeah, she actually needed it... Fuck, I felt terrible. "Mel, I didn't mean to hurt you like this," I stated.

"Hmm, I didn't even notice," the fact that she was being so sarcastic let me know that she wasn't that upset. I chuckled. "Ever thought of becoming a UFC fighter?" She joked.

"I really am sorry," it was awkward for me to be admitting it.

"Whatever," she shrugged it off. "One question though, why did you react that way?" She asked. Nervously, my heart beat increased. The one question I wished she didn't ask. What else could make sense? Other than the truth, of course. "Violet, you literally wanted to kill me for being on Rosemary and kissing her," she pointed out.

"It wasn't that," I panicked and lied.

Skeptically, she squinted her visible eye at me. I stifled a laugh.

"It must have triggered something," she insisted. "You've never reacted that way before."

"Speaking of, why are you bothering her more recently?" it was my attempt at switching it around. Plus, I really wanted to know too.

"Honestly, to see yours and her reaction," she admitted truthfully.

"But why?' I started to panic more.

"You and her are a thing, aren't you?" She flat out asked. My heart stopped for a second. "Why does it look like you're about to faint?" She pointed out.

I cleared my throat, "I think I might've hit you too hard because you're talking nonsense," I played it off as.

"Violet, Chantel saw you and Rosemary napping together," she explained. Instantly, I froze and forgot to breathe for a moment. "What I don't understand is why you guys are keeping it a secret?" She wondered.

People knew then? What the fuck? Who else knew? Just Chantel and Melanie? My heart was racing. About to jump out of my chest. Holy shit! We didn't want anyone to find out!

Melanie now knew and there was honestly no point in hiding it. At least not from her.

"Because people ruin everything and we don't want anyone getting in our business," I explained. Whatever, might as well be honest. "Melanie, you cannot tell anyone else though!" I was scared that she wouldn't care about keeping it a secret. "Only Rachel, Lucy and Lola know."

"Oh," she looked sad and disappointed.

"What?" I asked.

"Nothing," she shrugged it off. She brought the ice pack down from her bruised eye. "It's not much of juicy gossip material, so I won't say anything," she assured. "I say be open with it though, fuck everyone else," she advised. "By keeping it a secret, you're inviting others to flirt with you guys and that's how you'll end up in jail," she joked, pointing at her eye.

I laughed slightly, "I can cover that up for you," I offered. "Must you know, I'm practically a make-up artist," I gave myself props.

"We'll see. I might get more bitches if they see it and feel bad for me," she bit her bottom lip, loving the thought of it.

This bitch never changed. It was nice to see her not taking it to heart. Honestly, it felt good to tell someone else about Rosemary and I. Melanie had a point, the more we kept it a secret, the more uncomfortable moments we were going to have with other people who tried to hit on us. If people knew Rosemary was mine, they'd stay away.

So much to think about.

Rosemary P.O.V

Friends from my previous school invited me to hang out. To go out for a pizza night. Something we used to do. A fun night for me for sure back then. Definitely missed those nights.

However, when Violet found out about it, she insisted on coming with me. Honesty, I wasn't sure if she really wanted to meet them or just keep an eye on me because of her jealous nature. I hoped she was interested in genuinely meeting them and not just jealous.

"Babe, are you sure that I look like a badass bitch?" she motioned for me to check her out fully.

Violet was definitely overdressed. Yes, she looked like an absolute goddess but nonetheless overdressed! Something that Violet did not understand. She was definitely going to stand out at the pizza joint. Violet loved the attention, so she was going to soak it all up but still, she was too overdressed! Why could she not just keep it simple? Especially since she was meeting my friends for the first time?

"Violet, you look gorgeous but it's literally something casual," I reminded.

"Casual doesn't mean that I have to be lazy," she justified. "I'm meeting your friends for the first time, so I'm going to dress to impress," she defended, fixing little touches of her outfit.

"They wouldn't care, to be honest," I clarified. My friends did not care about stuff like that. As long as they could vibe with you, that's all they asked for.

"Hmm, rude of them then," Violet shrugged with a slight bit of attitude.

I sighed, "Violet, you're freakin' gorgeous, everyone is going to see that! But they won't care how you show up dressed as!" I explained, so she wouldn't take it the wrong way.

Stubborn as always, she brushed it off her shoulders, "Babe, we're already here and I'm dressed as I like, so fuck it," she was not stressing off it.

Know what? It was fine! No more time to go get redressed. Not that Violet was planning on it either way.

"It's cool," I chose to not stress off of it. From afar, I saw my friends approaching. "They're coming!" I was beyond excited. It had been so long since I last saw them. It was going to be amazing to catch up with them!

The group spotted me and immediately came running to me. Grinning, I spread my arms out to welcome them in. It had been so long since I felt extremely identified with!

"Rosemary!" All at once, they bombarded me with hugs.

"Jonathan!" The guy friend I was closet with hugged me first.

Normally, a afternoon with them was very chill but it kinda felt off with them. Unfortunately, I had gotten used to the way that my classmates from Montgomery behaved. I had to remind myself that my friends were acting completely normal. They did not hold back on sharing how much they cared for someone.

"Rosemary! It's been so long! I thought you forgot about us!" My good friend, Molly, assumed.

Instantly, I shook my head no, "Are you crazy?" I chuckled. "I could never!" I completely assured.

Cammie and Diamond appeared. Oh shoot... Cammie was a fantastic friend but... Diamond was a girl I was kinda seeing before I went to Montgomery. I was not expecting to see her here. Yes, she was part of the friend group but I thought she was going to skip out on this hang out.

So far, Violet was unaware of her. Now, I was unsure whether to tell her or let it be. Pretend like it never happened. I mean, why make a big deal out of it, right?

Before anything could be said, I quickly introduced, "This is my girlfriend, Violet," placing my hand on her mid-back, I motioned for her to step forward. Officially, we were not girlfriends but I panicked. Confused, Violet looked at me, seeming like she was trying her hardest to not smile uncontrollably. Honestly, I had the most gorgeous girl by my side and I felt extremely proud.

Politely, Violet held her hand out to shake their hands. "Nice to me you!" She was ecstatic.

Nearly drooling, Jonathan checked out Violet, "I think I follow you on Instagram," he remembered. What the heck? Really? Questionably, I eyed him. "I follow Violet Delaney on Instagram and that's your girl," he assured to me, seeming confused and shocked as hell. Quickly, he fetched his phone out of his pocket as if his life depended on it. Slightly, he pulled me off to the side, "Rosemary, your girl is Instagram famous," he pointed out as if I didn't already know that.

Knowing that he easily fangirled over beautiful girls and especially if he followed them on instagram, I asked from him, "Can you please treat her like any other girl and not like she's famous?"

Wide-mouth and hesitantly, he sighed, "I can try," he didn't sound too convincing.

We stepped back with everyone else.

"I Iove your outfit!" Making Violet feel included, Molly complimented her.

"Thank you! Your outfit is cute too," Violet returned the compliment. Normally, Violet soaked up the attention and acted like she deserved it but she looked nervous. It surprised me.

-

Greasy and extra cheesy pizza was at the center of the table and Violet was eyeing it as if it were disgusting poison. Everyone picked at it but Violet was finding courage to bite into it. Seeing that she was making an effort, I appreciated it and wanted to tell her that it was okay.

"You don't like pizza?" Diamond questioned Violet.

Violet took another look at it, seeming to not be able to get herself to touch it, "I'm not too hungry," she excused.

"Hmm, weird," Diamond commented, low-key throwing shade.

Jonathan immediately offered, "If you want to eat something else, I can go get that for you!" He looked honored to be able to do that for her.

Diamond mugged him.

Appreciative, Violet gave Jonathan a smile. The boy looked rewarded by it. "I'm okay, thank you," Violet shook her head slightly.

"We don't tend to cater to one person specifically but we can make an exception, your highness," Diamond's tone was of one trying to mock someone.

I could tell that Violet was biting her tongue right now to not make a remark towards Diamond.

Here, I had to step in. No one was going to belittle my girl. Especially when she was trying her hardest to behave and not start anything. Any other day, Violet would have put her in her place.

"She's my princess, so whatever she wants, she gets," I leaned over to kiss her cheek, causing Violet to blush and smile.

Diamond rolled her eyes and looked away.

Whatever, only one that mattered to me was Violet.

"I'll have one," Violet pushed herself to grab a slice.

"Violet, tell us, how has Rosemary been in Montgomery?" Jonathon's attention was planted on her.

My friends eyed Violet as she tapped a napkin over the slice of pizza to clean some of the grease off. "She's top of the class," she acknowledged.

Molly chuckled, "I be doing that all of the time!" I had never seen her do that to her pizza but I knew her intentions. I was happy that a friend of mine was going out of their way to let Violet fit in.

"You don't and it's weird," Diamond scoffed. I exchanged a look with Jonathon, seeing that he was getting tired of it too. This girl needed to calm down. I was not confrontational but when it came to Violet, I would go up against anyone.

"It's not weird," I retorted. "Sometimes when it's too greasy, it's hard to grab and eat," I explained to back up Violet. "Also, it takes away from the flavor," I added, in case she insisted.

Violet was cleaning grease off her fingers with a thin napkin, so I grabbed a few more napkins and took her hands in mine to help her clean off the grease. Softly, Violet stared at me as she smiled. Nervously, my heart beat increased. It didn't matter how long we were together, I never got used to the butterflies she made me feel.

"You guys are so cute!" Molly commented in a squeal.

Cammie added, "I've never seen Rosemary be such a simp before," she teased.

Jonathon whispered to me, "How did you pull that off?" He was still in shock that it was Violet Delaney.

Amused, I gave my head a little shake.

Violet explained herself, "The pizza looks delicious but I don't normally eat something so greasily."

I added to that, "She takes care of herself."

Diamond scoffed, "A slice won't make a difference."

I sighed, "Then you eat it."

Seriously, I did not expect for her to act this way. Whatever we had was barely anything. It was barely getting to a talking stage, if that. Diamond needed to stop being so bitter and let things go. We used to be such great friends, she needed to remember that.

From the moment we got here, Violet's phone had been going off. Probably notifications of Jonathon hearting all of her instagram pictures. Besides that, I could see her replying to messages.

Violet leaned over to me, "They're planning a rooftop party, want to go?" she asked, seeming eager to go.

A Montgomery get together, hmm, seemed like trouble. Yet again, it was something that Violet was used to. Based on past experiences, she was going to go regardless. Might as well go with her and keep her out of trouble.

"It's fine," I nodded.

Beyond excited, Violet squealed. "Tonight, we're going to a party on a rooftop, if you guys wanna go?" She invited, which I did not expect. These friends were not used to their kind of parties. I wasn't sure if it would be a good match.

"I'm down!" Jonathon did not hesitate.

Hesitantly, the girls exchanged a look. Like I said, they were not used to it. Hopefully, they were not going to go with it! Mixing them with the Montgomery kids was probably not a good idea. They were not going to get along, I felt like.
