A/N so this is a Thanksgiving oneshot, I hope you'll enjoy this oneshot
Shuichi P.O.V
"Remember what I said, okay, don't do anything that would be embarrassing in public." I said
"Yes yes, I get it okay." Kokichi rolled his eyes
"This is like the millionth time you've said this!" he said
"Yes I know, but my family is really strict, okay."
"It's not my fault you have a strict family." He crossed his arms
"Yeah, well. . .nevermind, can you please ring the doorbell, once"
"Sure"
It took a good ten seconds until the door opened.
"Shuichi, welcome back!"
"H-Hi, mom" I said smiling
"And who's this young man?"
Right, I haven't told her about Kokichi yet.
~Earlier~
"Soooo, does your family know about. . ."us"?" Koichi asked
". . .no. . ." I replied
"Are you thinking of keeping it that way or are you going to tell them?" he asked
". . .I don't know."
"oh"
~Present Time~
"Oh he's Oma-kun, Oma Kokichi, my friend." I lied
I knew lying wasn't the right thing to do, but I didn't know how to tell her that Kokichi is more than just a friend.
"Well, welcome, Oma-kun."
"Hello" he said enthusiastically with a grin
We walked into the living room and started a conversation with my family.
"Hey, Shuichi!" my little brother said
"H-Hi"
We hugged.
"Who's your friend?" he asked
"um-"
"I'm Kokichi Oma! The ultimate Supreme Leader!" Kokichi said with a smile
"Wooah, so cool. Can you teach me how to become a leader like you?!"
The rest of my family chuckled.
"Of course, but it's going to be hard!" Kokichi said while kneeling down to get to my little brother's height
I found what Kokichi did cute.
"So, Oma-kun, do you have any of the same interests as Shuichi?"
"No, not really."
"Oh"
~When the Food is Ready~
"Alright everybody! Dig in!" my mother said
I noticed that Kokichi seemed to adapt to the atmosphere already. That was good.
"Thanks for the food, mom" we all said except for Kokichi
It took a few minutes for someone to start a conversation, but eventually, my mom was the one to speak up first.
"So, how did you and Kokichi meet?"
This question struck me to a shocked expression at first but I had to think back quickly to when Kokichi and I met. We met by Kokichi falling off a latter and me catching him. But I thought that would've come off as the wrong way so I had to lie. Unfortunately Kokichi beat me to it.
"We met at college, we were taking one of the same college courses together."
It wasn't a bad lie, but still, it could turn against us in the future.
"Oh, which course was it?" my mother asked
This is it! How am I supposed to come up with a good lie for this question? I've already told her before about the college courses I was gonna take. Kokichi had already told her that we didn't have any similar interests.
"well?"
"Everyone's attention came to Kokichi. He looked nervous."
"I wanted to major in law because I found it interesting." Kokichi said
"Oh! That sounds like a difficult goal to accomplish" my mom said with a smile
Looks like she took the bait.
~When They Finish Dinner~
"I think we should be heading out." I said
"NOOO" My little brother screamed
"I want you guys to stay a little bit longer, please" He said
"Well with that attitude Shuichi and Oma-kun might not stay." my mom said
"Aww" My little brother said with a frown
"Don't worry, I'm sure we can spare some time, right, Shuichi" Kokichi said with a smirk
"Fine" I said in defeat
"YAYYY!" my little brother jumped up onto Kokichi and hugged him, Kokichi almost fell
"Hey, get off this poor young man!" my mom screamed
"Sorry, mom" my brother apologized
"I'm terribly sorry about that." My mother apologized
"Oh, no worries." Kokichi said while scratching the back of his neck
We sat down on the couch right next to my dad. Kokichi decided to start a conversation.
"Soooo, I heard you're a successful private detective, Mr. Saihara!" Kokichi said while pretending to hold an invisible microphone to his mouth
"ha, I like your sense of humor kid" He chuckled
Kokichi just smiled at this comment.
"And to answer your question, yes, I am a private detective."
"what's it like to be one?" Kokichi asked
"Um, well, it's very tiring, actually I'm pretty lucky to have this year's thanksgiving off. I was able to finish all of my work for my most recent case."
"Neeheehee, your son is following in your footsteps."
"Yeah, I heard."
"I'm sure he'll eventually become as successful as you one day!"
"O-Oma-kun?!"
"Well, you're already doing so well in school."
"Y-Yeah but you are too."
"So?"
"OHHH, burned!" my little brother said
"W-What?!"
Kokichi and my father started laughing a little bit at this comment.
~Later~
"Hey, Shuichi, do you wanna play a video game?" My little brother asked
"Um, I don't know"
"Aww come on, please!" he asked
"Okay okay, fine"
"Yay!" he cheered in victory
He took out, what looked like, a racing game.
It's an oldie, but mom told me you used to play it a lot.
I took a look at the game's disc holder, it was an old racing game, I started to remember playing this when I was a teenager. The goal in this game was to put a bet in and race against other people.
"Do you finally remember it?" my little brother asked
"y-yeah, I do. But how did you find it?"
"Easy, when mom told me about it I asked if I could play it, then she said she didn't know where it was and that the last person who had it was you, so I looked in your room."
"Oh"
"Hey, can I play too!" Kokichi asked
"Sure!" My little brother replied
~When Kokichi and Shuichi have to leave~
"NOOOO, why now" my little brother said with a frown
"Sorry, but we have to get going"
"Okay. . ." he seemed sad
"When will you guys be back?!" he asked
"Hmm, maybe when Christmas comes around" I said (foreshadowing! （＾∀＾●）ﾉｼ)
"Okay, I'll be waiting!" he said
We all said our goodbyes and my mom closed the door. Once the door was closed I pulled Kokichi closed and gave him a kiss on the cheek.
"Nishishi~" he smiled
"Hey. . ."
I turned around to see my little brother at the door.
"MOM! Shuichi and Oma are more than just friends!" he then closed and locked the door
"I-" Kokichi was speechless for once
"L-Let's go" I said and we both hopped into the car and drove off
