Well I do have a cold, and I feel like I'm dying for the past week. It's currently Wednesday and I haven't been to school because I'm sick. I couldn't sleep last night because I was either way too cold or way too hot. At one point I slept on the cold tile floor in my bathroom because it was so hot.
"Skylar" Miss Isabella said coming into my room. I couldn't speak, I was too tired so I groaned
"Let me take your temperature" she said. She put the thermometer in my mouth and took my temperature. We waited till the beeping sound was heard and I pulled it out
"100.3" I said
"Ok, you have a fever. Let me get you some medicine to bring it down then go from there. You have to eat something with it" she said
"No" I said
"Skylar, it isn't an option. You can have toast or rice, both are very light on the stomach" she replied
"Rice, less chewing" I said
"Ok, I will bring it up" she replied. I wanted to die and sleep and cry. I hate being sick and it's the worst thing.
She brought up the bowl of rice and medicine. I slowly ate the food and medicine.
"Try to get some sleep" she said. I nodded my head and pulled the blanket up. Miss Isabella turned on my fan and turned off my light.
I slept for about 2 hours but was woken up by the sudden wave of nausea and running to my bathroom to throw up.
I'm gonna kill myself, I want to die. I sat against the wall, just wanting to feel better.
"Let me check your temperature again" Miss Isabella said. She got up to grab the thermometer and brought it back.
"Ok, let's check" she said putting the thermometer in my mouth. We waited till the beeping sound and pulls it out
"103.2, we need to get you to the hospital" she said.
"I don't feel good" I whined.
"I know, once we go to the hospital you will feel all better" she said
"Ok" I replied. She helped me up and walk down the stairs.
"Wait here, I'm going to talk to your father and Sophia" she said. I gave her a thumbs up not having the energy. She left me alone, and I waited till she came back but instead Tyler came with Isabella.
"Sophia is gonna meet us at the hospital" Tyler said giving him a thumbs up.
"Let's get you in the car" he said helping me up. Everything ached and I wanted to cry, once we got to the car, Tyler started driving off.
"We will be there soon" he said. I kept coughing and my chest would hurt a lot.
"My chest hurts" I whined, barely keeping my eyes open.
"I know Skylar, but we're almost there" he said. After a short drive, we pulled up to the hospital and Sophia was waiting for me outside
"Oh my god, are you trying to kill her?" Sophia said looking at me
"I didn't know it was this bad. I thought she just had a cold" Tyler said
"It's more than that now. Let's get her inside" she said helping me onto a wheelchair and getting me into the hospital. I was admitted to the ER and immediately was given fluids and iv stuck in my arm.
"When you cough does it hurt?" Sophia asked which I nodded my head
"Let's get a chest x-ray to see if theirs fluid in her longs and do a sputum test" Sophia ordered. Next thing I know I'm being directed to cough as hard as I can do mucus can come out for it to be tested. Once I was done with that I was taken to get a chest x-ray. After that I was wheeled to a room I was admitted to.
"I've given you some meds and fluids so try sleeping, we're gonna monitor your fever" sophia said
"Ok" I replied. Eventually I did fall asleep and it was nice, I mean I still felt like shit but it was better.
I woke up 4 hours later, feeling a lot better. I looked at the monitor hooked up and it looks like my fever went down. I looked outside to see it's already dark.
"Knock knock" sophia said knocking on my door
"Hi" I said
"How are you feeling?" She asked
"Better" I replied
"Well, we got your results back. It looks like you have bronchitis" she said
"Seriously?" I questioned
"Yes, but we're gonna give you some meds and you should be better in about a week" she said
"Ok" I replied. She exited the room, letting me be alone
"Skylar, can I talk to you" Tyler said walking in
"What" I replied
"I'm sorry, it's my fault you are sick and I should have helped you when you first developed it. I'll be here for the rest of however long you're sick for" he said
"It's fine, I-
I started coughing a lot and couldn't stop for a good while
"Drink some water" he said handing me the cup with a straw. I started drinking the water, hoping it helps the cough.
"I mean it, I will be helping. I want to make it up" He replied
"Ok" I mumbled not wanting to fight. I stayed at the hospital for the night then was planned to be discharged in the morning.
The next morning I was ready to go and going home with medicine. Tyler took me home and first thing he did was helped me upstairs.
"Ok, I'm gonna bring you some chicken noodle soup with some crackers and electrolytes" he said
"Ok" I replied
He went downstairs and 20 minutes later he came back with a tray of stuff.
"So I didn't have Gatorade but I do have organic coconut water" he said
"Thank you" I replied. He sets down the tray and turns out the tv
"So what are we watching?" He asked
"We?" I questioned
"I will be watching a movie with you while you eat some food. I told you I will be making it up to you" he said
"Ok" I replied
"So what are we watching?" He asked
"Fast and furious, I've been meaning to finish the series of movies" I said
"Ok" he replied.
We both watched the whole movie and it wasn't bad hanging out with him.
"I talked to your coach about being sick so don't worry about soccer, and your cousins dropped off your homework." He said
"Ok, we'll I should probably start on it" I said
"Ok, if you need any help you can ask. I'll be here" he replied
"Ok, thank you" I said. He left my room and started my homework. I didn't understand some stuff but not wanting to ask Tyler because what happened last time.
I worked on homework for 3 hours, understanding a majority of it. I actually understood math unlike last time
"I'm here to bring snacks" Tyler said coming in with a mask on and a bowl of fruit.
"Why are you wearing mask?" I questioned
"I can't get sick" he said looking at me
"Did you already forget that you came in, sat on my bed and watched a movie with me without the face mask on" I said.
"Never too late" he replied setting down the bowl of fruit.
"Did you finish your homework?" He asked
"No I don't understand bio" I replied
"Lucky for you I do, not to brag or anything but I got a 5 on my exam" he said
"Great, you can do my homework then" I replied
"No, but I will help you" he said
"You're the reason why I'm sick" I replied guilt tripping him.
"Fine" he huffed grabbing the papers and book. I watched him do the worksheet and it didn't take him long.
"How the hell do you understand it?" I questioned looking at the paper that is finished
"I liked biology, it was easy and something I wanted to do" he replied
"Why didn't you pursue it?" I questioned
"The family business was passed down to me." He said
"What's the business, and do I have to?" I questioned
"Its a chain of hotels, different companies we own and invest in, and some banks. There's more to it but it's not a big deal. And no you don't have to" he said explaining what he does.
"Seems boring" I said
"It can be, now eat your fruit" he said pointing to the bowl of fruit. I slowly ate it as he continued doing my homework.
"I have a question" he said looking up from the paper
"What?" I questioned
"For Christmas break, is it fine if we go to Italy. All of the family are going and it's a tradition I've been doing" he said
"Sure" I replied
"Great, we leave on the 22nd" he said
In 10 days
"Ok" i replied. The rest of the time he finished doing the work and I finished the fruit. I watched more tv and he brought me dinner with my medicine.
4 days later
I was officially back to school and better. It was nice being back but I haven't talked to max still.
"Hey we have a game in 3 days. Do you think you'll be able to play?" My teammate Rosie asked
"Yeah, I should be good" I said
"Will you be at practice?" She asked
"Yeah" I replied
"Great, I'll see you after school" she said
"See ya" I replied waving bye to her. I headed to my class, realizing max is in this class.
"Can we talk?" Max asked coming up to my desk
"No" I said
"Please, I'm sorry" he replied
"Fuck off, I have other shit to do" I said annoyed with him
"What happened to you?" He questioned
"The fact that you ditched me and said I was no one" I said
"I'm sorry" he replied. The bell rang and he had to go back to his desk.
The rest of the day was decent, max kept asking be but I kept ignoring him. I went to soccer practice and it wasn't horrible, but it was harder to breathe and I had to stop a lot.
At the end of practice, the car pulled up but it wasn't Michael it was Tyler.
"You're picking me up?" I questioned
"For now on I am" he said
"Ok" I replied. He drove home and I told him about my soccer game. He said he'll come but I don't know if he'll come.
"I'll be there and your family" he said
"Ok" I replied giving him a thumbs up.
3 days later
It was the day of the soccer game and I was warming up as I see no one. I see Atticus and Angelo in the stands, at least they are here. Soon there parents came, couple minutes later andrea and Giovanni. They all waved at me which I waved back
"Team huddle up" my coach called. We were about to start and Tyler still didn't show up.
I am sad he isn't here as we are about to start but at least somewhat relieved that the others are. I sat on the bench, not expecting my name to be called since I was still recovering from my illness.
"And Skylar" my couch called which was a shock
"Ok" I said getting off the bench.
"Skylar" my name was shouted faintly. I looked up to the stands to see
