Wednesday.

Girlfriend.

Lucille Black is my girlfriend.

I have never had a girlfriend before. It wasn't important to me to put a label on girls I didn't want anything long-term with.

But now that I have Luci, I am worried that my lack of experience in that department will harm our relationship.

How am I supposed to be a good boyfriend?

Would things change now, or would they stay the same?

I guess time will tell... if we even have much time left.

- Saint

I closed the red book and stuffed it underneath my pillow. I looked over to the angel who was sleeping soundly beside me. I moved her braids away from her face and pushed the bedsheet up to cover her body more.

I grabbed her hand from underneath the sheet and frowned when I had felt something was missing.

I reached behind the bedside table and grabbed the rings. One by one I placed each ring back onto their prospective finger, whilst leaving the ring finger bare.

I'll put another ring there very soon, love.

I kissed the inside of her palm softly. Her body involuntarily shifted, as she softly groaned under my touch. Her eyes fluttered open, as she stared at me with tired eyes.

"Did I wake you?" I asked softly.

She mumbled "mhm", as I pulled her closer to my chest. I kissed her forehead softly and tightly embraced her.

"I'm sorry about that, love," I apologized.

She stilled underneath my touch and immediately lifted her chin, to make eye contact.

"What's wrong?" I asked.

She shook her head and buried her face in the crook of my neck.

"I'm all sticky," she said quietly. "And sore. I can't really move."

Oh right.

We hadn't used a condom last night, and although I was certain I did everything right, the fear was still there.

"Do... do you need anything? Am I supposed to get you something?" I asked timidly.

Her face heated up as she debated my question. "I think so," she replied. "Can you get it for me? I don't think I'll be able to do myself."

I nodded and kissed the top of her head. Everything would be fine, but Luci's anxiety was slowly building up.

"Do you wanna shower with me?" I asked, trying to take her mind away from the situation.

She gasped when my hand went down her bare waist and rested on the top of her hip bone.

"J-just a shower," she mumbled. "I'm still sore."

I bit the inside of my cheek, to hide the smirk that was growing.

"Of course," I said. "Just a shower."

・:*:・。☆。・:*:・゚

It wasn't just a shower.

Luci would say it's my fault, but she was the one who started pulling on my hair.

"Saint," she whimpered. "G-gentler, please."

I refrained from thrusting deeper inside of her, and she pathetically wrapped her hands around my neck.

Gripping the back of her thighs, I carried her and pinned her up against the wall, while trying to go slower.

"Hold onto me tighter," I gritted out.

The water from the showerhead cascaded down our faces, as the steam fogged up the glass door. She held me tighter and clawed my back as she tried to conceal her moans.

"More," she panted out. "Please Saint, more."

I thrusted my hips forward with more force whilst still keeping a steady pace. Her nails scratch my back so deeply that I could feel the blood trickling down.

Why does that feel so good?

"Wrap your legs tighter," I demanded. "Don't fall."

"I don't think I can-"

"You can and you will," I interrupted. "I'm gonna fuck you until you pass out."

She threw her head back and her mouth fell open. Steam clouded around us, as she indirectly made the shower hotter.

When her eyes rolled back into her head, I immediately pulled out of her and gripped her throat.

Her eyelids fluttered open as her orgasm rode out by itself. She leaned forward to kiss me, but I pulled away teasingly.

She whined and leaned in again before I gave in.

"Such a sweet girl," I mumbled in between kisses. "You did so well baby."

I brought her underneath the showerhead so the water could wash over the both of us.

I washed us off quietly as I held her in my arms. When we were done, I carried her bridal style out of the shower and wrapped towels around our bodies.

I set her down on the counter so I could dry my hair. Luci turned around and stared at me through the mirror. Her braids were wet, as was the rest of her body.

I stared back at her with the same intensity, and she immediately looked away. Smirking I turned her body to face me completely.

I took the towel out of my hair to dry Luci's next but stopped myself when I remembered.

"This towel isn't good for your hair right?" I asked.

I stepped away from her for a moment to grab the microfiber towel on the rack. Wrapping the top of her braids in the towel, I dried it the best that I could and wrapped it around her head.

"Good?" I asked her.

She nodded and fell limp into my arms. I laughed as her face settled into the crook of my neck. She mumbled something quietly that I didn't quite catch.

"What was that love?" I asked.

"Nothing," she said quietly.

"Okay," I replied softly. I kissed the top of her head, and took in our matching scent.

Just looking at her made my heart overwhelmed.

"I love you," I sighed.

She lost eye contact with, and wrapped the towel around her body tighter.

"Does it make you uncomfortable when I say it?" I asked. "I won't say it anymore if it does."

I didn't want her to think I was pressuring her into say it back. Of course I wanted to hear her say it, but I was willing to wait.

"It doesn't make me uncomfortable..." she began. "It just overwhelms me."

I cupped her cheek, and felt the warmth of it. "Why does it overwhelm you?"

Luci had bad anxiety, but it's gotten better lately. Sometimes all she needed was a reminder to stay grounded.

"Sometimes I don't believe it," she muttered.

I stood still for a moment as I processed her words.

"You don't believe that I love you?" I asked carefully.

She finally made eye contact with me and shook her head.

"No that's not what I meant," she explained. "I mean I don't understand why. How did you know? How does anyone know they really love someone?"

"Well it wasn't just me randomly deciding that I love you," I laughed. "It was me realizing it. The way I feel about you now is the same I felt years ago. Now I have a label for it."

And how could I not love you?

"And the obsession part?" she asked.

"What about it?"

"You said you loved me, obsessively," she said. "Is that still true?"

My every consuming thought is you, what kind of question is this?

She wanted reassurance, but I wondered how much more obvious I could make it. I refrained from rolling my eyes. Instead I looked at her in a way I knew would make her nervous.

She was getting better at keeping eye contact with me, but it still was difficult for her to maintain it.

I bent my head down so it was leveled with hers. My eye contact was chilling as I started into her wide doe-brown eyes.

"What do you think?" I whispered.

She didn't answer, and I smiled at her sudden embarrassment.

"You're right, I don't love you," I said. A thick ounce of sarcasm dripped down my voice. "I absolutely despise you."

She frowned, but immediately covered it up. I decide to keep going since her reaction was funny.

"I definitely don't write about you in my red book," I sighed. "And I absolutely hate your company. You know you snore right?"

She playfully hit my chest and glared at me. "I do not snore!" she pouted. "You're not funny."

"Neither are you," I retorted.

I leaned down, and placed a slow kiss below her ear.

"But if question why I love you again" I said lowly. "I'll fucking show you why."

Her heart beat against my chest as I smiled. I patted the top of her head but stopped when I noticed something.

"Your hair," I said.

She turned back to look in the mirror as her brows furrowed.

I liked to think that I noticed everything about Luci, especially her hair. It was always a unique shade of red. The back part was a bit darker than the front, and her coils grew tightly out of every direction imaginable. Her hair was truly a work of art.

My eyes could not be playing tricks on me because her hair now was not a vibrant red. It was now a dull auburn color.

"Why is it..." I began.

"Brown," we said in unison.

Before I could reply, Luci placed her hand over her chest and fell forward. I caught her in time, and she struggled to catch her breath.

"Are you okay?" I asked frantically.

"I'm fine," she assured. "My chest has been hurting a lot lately. But I'm okay."

She avoided my gaze as her face contorted into pure discomfort.

"Can we get out of here?" she asked. "The steam is making me feel lightheaded and I don't feel too well right now."

"Of course, baby," I whispered.

I tried to keep my composure as I carried her out of the bathroom, and into her room.

Luci wouldn't say it but we both knew what was happening.

She was dying.

And every day her symptoms seemed to get worse. I had to convince her to accept my plan but it would be difficult.

She wouldn't hurt a fly let alone her own boyfriend.

I sat her down on her bed and stared at the ceiling to stop any potential tears from spilling out.

Keep it together, you're okay.

"Im going to run to the store, and get what you need okay?"

Good thinking. Change the subject.

She nodded, and yawned. I watched as her body slid back into her covers.

"Tired?" I asked.

She yawned again before she answered me. "I'm not sure why. I feel like I just ran a marathon. All my energy is gone."

I need to leave before I start crying.

"Should I stay?" I asked quickly.

"No, I'm sure I'll feel better," she smiled. "But just hurry back, okay?"

I mumbled "okay" before dashing out of her bedroom door. When I closed it shut behind me, I took a deep but shaky breath.

I am okay. I am okay. I am okay.

But I wasn't okay. And lying to myself didn't seem to make it any better.

I decided to stuff the thoughts in the back of my head and focus on the task at hand.
I had to ask Marcus for the keys to his car, but I couldn't tell him where I was going.

"Why are you just standing there?"

I looked up to see Celia standing in front of me with her hands crossed over her chest. She was wearing light blue jeans and a black sweater. Her wardrobe had gotten duller, and I couldn't help but wonder if everything was all right with her. She studied my face and immediately wiped the tears that were brimming.

"I need the car," I told her. "I have to get something... for Luci."

I whispered the last part quietly, in hopes that she would catch on.

"Oh," she said. "Oh. Wait, are you saying what I think you're saying?"

I nodded and avoided her judgmental gaze. Her fist came in harsh contact with my shoulder, and I held it to soothe the pain.

"Saint!" she shouted. "What the fuck? Given your experience I thought you'd be smart enough not to do that."

Damn she can punch.

"To be fair," I started. "It wasn't exactly my idea. She wanted to."

"Yeah and I'm sure you opposed the idea," her eyes rolled.

She rummaged through her pocket and pulled out the car keys.

"I was gonna go into town anyway to buy a couple of toiletries," she explained. "I guess you can tag along with me."

I hid my smile, and followed her down the stairs. The kitchen door was open and when I glanced it seemed as thought Rod and my mother were having a heated conversation. They didn't even notice us going out the door.

We walked outside to where the car was parked on the grass. All of a sudden Celia cursed underneath her breath. I looked ahead of her to see Khalil jogging toward us.

He stopped a few feet away and spared me a quick glance before walking closer to Celia. I watched as he attempted to grab her hand but she immediately backed away from him.

His nostrils flared and he gripped her hand anyway and opened them up to reveal Marcus' car keys.

"How'd you get his keys?" he asked.

She ripped her hand away and stuffed the keys into her pocket.

"He gave them to me,"she replied.

Khalil walked closer to her to the point where he was clearly violating her personal space.

"You just asked?" he said. "You sure that's all you did for them?"

I didn't like the tone is his voice. He was too close to Celia and her body language was exuding extreme uncomfortableness.

Khalil had been so different lately. The stress of Luci's invisible clock was probably a lot for him, as it was for all of us. But that didn't mean he had to take it out on Celia.

I grabbed Celia's shoulder and pulled her toward me.

"Back up," I demanded.

He looked between me and Celia and scoffed. "How precious," he muttered. "Hopping from demon to angel. Nice."

She winced at his words and I felt her body grow hot. Khalil started to walk back to the house before he turned around and yelled,

"Before you go and try to fuck Marcus or Saint, remember it's my initials carved on the inside of your thigh. Not theirs."

My eyes widened as Celia's face flared up in red. He ran past us and the keys immediately dropped from her hand, onto the grass.

I picked them up and wiped all shock off of my face.

"Hey," I said. "Are you okay?"

She sniffled and snatched the keys away from me.

"I'm fine."

She scurried over to the car and hopped into the driver's seat while I stood.

"What are you waiting for?" she yelled. "Hurry up!"

I immediately obeyed and got into the passenger side of the car. I could barely get my seatbelt on before Celia slammed on the gas pedal and drive off the lot.

Her face stared straight at the road as her eyes glowed red. She tapped her fingers against the steering wheel and it was then I saw the flames threatening to burst out from her palm. I had seen Celia angry, but never this angry.

"Celia, I know you don't want to here this right now, especially not from me but," I let out a deep breath. "You need to calm down."

She laughed and gripped the steering wheel tighter. Her head whipped around and her straight black hair glazed over her shoulder.

"I'm calm," she replied. "I just don't fucking understand why I can't get a break."

We came to a red light, and Celia closed her eyes and let her head rest against the seat. I took the opportunity to place my hands over hers, and a trail of steam followed soon after.

"Thanks," she mumbled.

She started driving again when the light turned green and I couldn't help but look at her.

Her eyes were almond shaped, and complimented her ivory skin. But they were sunken and filled with bags as if she hadn't been sleeping for days. Her wardrobe had become dull, and it seemed as though every ounce of life and personality she once held, had disappeared.

I had been so concerned with Luci, that I'd barely took the time to notice everyone around me.

"I know what you're thinking Saint," she sighed. She made a right turn and continued down the road. "And I'm not playing therapist with you so you can stop staring."

Well she definitely needs to talk to someone... Come on Saint, there's gotta be a way to get her to open up.

We drove an hour into town in complete silence. I would look at her but her expression would remain stoic the entire time.

When she parked the car we headed into the pharmacy and parted ways.

There were aisles line up with various medicines and products. All I needed was one thing but I didn't know where I could get it.

How does one ask, "Hey can you direct me your Plan B's because I was stupid enough to have unprotected sex with my hot girlfriend!"

A hand tapped my back and when I turned around I saw it was Celia. She pointed to the far corner of the store and dropped a box into my hands.

"They're over there, so you can stop looking around like an idiot," her eyes rolled.

I glanced at the box in my hands and my eyes widened when I read the label.

"You need them," she snickered. "Luci has bigger things to worry about, and the last thing we need is a Saint Jr. running around."

I took the box of condoms and scratched the back of my head. She walked ahead of me to lead me to the back and I followed.

Wrong size, but she's funny I'll give her that.

"So," she said as we walked. "Why were you about to start crying this morning."

I hid my smile when I realized the perfect way to get her speak. Instead of focusing on her, I would focus on me.

"Oh you know just the usual," I sighed. "My girlfriend is dying in front of me and I don't know what to do, type of thing."

She stifled a laugh as we got to the aisle.

"Girlfriend, huh?" she asked. "Glad that title is sorted out."

Me too.

"I know it's hard but you can't let her see you fall apart Saint," she sighed. "She needs you."

She scanned the shelf and handed me the package discreetly.

"This should work," she said. "Make sure she takes this with water."

"Thank you, Celia," I said.

"Don't mention it."

I followed her around the store as she put stuff in her basket for herself. It was kind of nice in a way. Shopping with her and keeping each other company almost made me feel like we were friends.

I still wanted her to talk about what happened, so I figured small talk would be the best way to do that.

"Do you like me?" I asked. "Like at all?"

Her eyes narrowed and she turned her head to look me in the eyes.

"I don't hate you as much as I used to," she laughed.

That's the nicest thing she's ever said to me.

"An upgrade I guess," I grinned. "Does that mean we're friends now?"

"No."

"Come on Celia," I fake whined. "You're being nice to me, and you haven't threatened me once yet. I think that makes us friends."

She finally cracked a smile and shook her head. "That's not what it means, Saint."

"But you're smiling!" I said. "You haven't smiled all day and yet you're doing it now with me."

She stared at me and tried not to smile.
"I see why she likes you so much," she whispered.

"Who?" I asked. "You mean Luci?"

She nodded. "Yeah, you're charming. A little too charming. And really nice. She likes guys like that."

"Do you?" I asked.

"What?"

"Do you also like guys like that?"

She scoffed and rolled her eyes. "Of course I do. Doesn't everybody."

The aisle we were in was now the candy aisle. I grabbed a bag of red vines and opened it with my teeth. I bit one, and Celia grimaced when she saw what I had done.

"Doesn't seem like you do," I mumbled.

"Excuse me?" she asked.

She turned around and crossed her arms over her chest.

"Want me to be honest Celia?"

"Yes."

"I don't think any one of them deserve you."

She took the bag of red vines out of my hand and threw them into her basket.

"Yeah and you were just a pot of sunshine to Luci in the beginning," she said. "You don't deserve her either."

Will you ever let that go?

"No, I won't," she replied.

"How did you-"

"Read your mind?" she finished. "It's easy when you leave yours wide open. Learn to block demons out."

All I'm saying is, think about it for a second. Khalil suddenly starts to like you and the twin scythes are stolen from you at the same time... that's not suspicious to you.

"You could've just said that out loud. What are you getting at?"

Everyone has something they gain by protecting Luci. Everyone but you and me.

Her brows furrowed and I decided to say this one sentence out loud.

"Think about this, does Khalil love you, or does he love the idea of being Lucifer's second," I asked. "You once told me that everything Khalil and Marcus do is for Lucifer and not Luci... take that into consideration."

She stood still for a moment before continuing to walk faster. The only reason I had let her into my mind was that so I could gain her trust.

Celia stopped at the end of the aisle, and my brows furrowed. She backed up quickly when a tall guy came around the corner.

He had a curly mullet and his piercing blue eyes were staring right at her. My pulse quickened when I recognize him as the guy from the bar.

The guy with a girl's name. Charlie.

Charlie looked by behind her and casted his eyes onto me. He was wearing a tailored navy blue suit. He was strangely put together to be seen in a pharmacy.

"I know you," his fingers snapped.

He looked around and clicked his tongue.

"No foxy red head?" he asked. "What a shame. I would love to see her again."

I stormed toward him but was stopped by a small arm pressed horizontally against my chest. Celia was frozen but the grip she had on me was telling me that I shouldn't have been too quick to anger.

Charlie looked at the two of us, but his eyes honed in on Celia. He gave her a grin whilst looking her up and down.

"Well aren't you a pretty thing," he smirked. "And what is your name?"

"Amanda," Celia lied.

Charlie shook his head and continued smiling. "Liar," he replied.

"You can tell that I'm lying?" she inquired.

He didn't reply. Instead he casted his eyes on me, and cocked his head to the side.

"You must be the cheater," he said.

"My name is Saint," I grunted.

Celia hit me as a way of saying I shouldn't have told him my real name, but I didn't care.

"Tell me then, Saint," he began. "What is someone like you doing with someone like Luci."

"What do you mean, "someone like me"?" I asked. "What the fuck are you trying to say?"

He put his hands up and shrugged his shoulders. "I'm not trying to say anything. It just assumed someone of your nature wouldn't want to associate with her."

Luci couldn't kiss someone who isn't racist?

"Take my girlfriend's name out of your mouth-"

"We need to go," Celia interrupted. "Now."

She grabbed my hand and yanked me away from Charlie.

"Back to Azure Estates right?" he asked. "She mentioned something about you all staying there. Although I'm curious as to how, seeing it's supposed to be abandoned."

I froze in place when my body took in his distinct aura. It was disgustingly pure. Cleaner that Kate's ever was.

Celia yanked me toward the counter and threw a various amounts of bills down before ushering me out of the pharmacy.

I kept up to her pace and practically ran to the car. Before I could my seat belt on, Celia had slammed her foot on the gas pedal.

"That guy back there," I said when I had caught my breath. "His aura... it's just like Kate's but purer."

She muttered something underneath breath and made a sharp left turn.

"He's an angel," she whispered. "And not just any fucking angel. I felt his aura too.  It's hideously clean."

I took a deep breath and tried to regain my composure. "What kind of angel is he? An angel of death?"

"I wish," she muttered. "Given the piercing blue eyes. Tall stature, and cleanliness of his attire... he's someone on the council."

She drove faster this time. Running through red lights without a care in the world.

"What are we going to do?" I asked. "He knows where we're staying. He knows what Luci is. What we all are... we're screwed."

She shook her head and made another sharp turn. "He saw Luci yesterday. No doubt he would've tried something by now. He's outnumbered. My bet is that he's calling other council members to come here as backup."

Celia honked the horn three times when a car cut her off at the light. Her eyes were glowing red, and the car started to heat up quickly.

"Saint I'm going to ask you something and you need to be 100 percent honest with me."

"Go ahead. Ask me anything."

"Does your dad love you?"

Um... I hope so.

"Fuck that sounded bad," she sighed. "I'm just overthinking. As I do. And I'm really fucking worried."

She took a deep breath and continued. "If Charlie tries to contact the rest of the council, they'll come here and tie us into Kate's death. There's no doubt they're  investigating it right now," she explained."And then they'll wonder why the hell Kate was on Earth in the first place."

I know where she's going with this.

"You're dad sent Kate here to help you. He's the first suspect," she said. "And I don't know if you've been paying attention but angels are not nice. They will torture him for information, and whether or not your father loves you... he will sing like a canary to get himself out of trouble."

"He's going to rat us out," I whispered. "My father is a fucking coward. He didn't care about me enough to stick around. I don't think he'll lie to the council."

Celia laughed and ran her hand through her hair. "Fucking fantastic. Awesome!"

I buried my face in my hands and tried not to think about our situation. We would have to tell Rod. He would know what to do.

After an hour of uncomfortable silence in the car we arrived back at the estate. Celia grabbed the stuff out of the car as I followed behind her.

"I'll tell Rod," she sighed. "Go check on Luci and pretend everything is okay. We cannot worry her."

"Okay," I sniffled. "I think I can do that."

She gave me a small smile, and startled me when she wrapped her arms around me.

"You're a good friend Saint," she whispered to me. "I know this is hard. Just hang in there for a little while, okay?"

I squeezed her back into a tight hug and let out a sigh of relief. When I let her go, I took the bags out of her hand before saying,

"Remember what I said Celia," I said. "You deserve better."

She wiped a way a tear that had fell from her eyes and nodded. We walked into the house, and saw Rod was in the kitchen.

Celia went to go and talk to him while I ascended the stairs to Luci's room.

I knocked on the door and heard a faint voice say "come in." When I opened it I saw the sight of Luci sitting in between her mother's legs as they both worked together to take down her braids.

She smiled at me, whilst Ms. Black looked relieved.

"Thank god," she said while getting up. She handed me a comb with a sharp end. "You can take over."

She gave Luci a kiss on the head and left the room. I twiddled the comb between my fingers and placed the bags on her bed.

"What's in the bag?" she asked.

I gave her the box and a water bottle that on her bedside table. She opened it, and took the little pill that was inside of it quickly.

"Thank you," she smiled.

"Don't thank me," I frowned. "It's my fault you needed one in the first place."

She shook her head. "No it's not," she said. "I wanted to."

I stifled a laugh and sat her inside my lap. A good portion of her braids had already been taken out and only a few remained.
Her hair seemed to be getting darker, but I ignored the thought.

I grabbed a braid and she put her hand behind her head to stop me.

"Do you know what you're doing?"

I rolled my eyes and used the comb to take the braid carefully.

"I'm not an idiot," I said. "Now tilt your head to make this easier for me."

She tilted her head as I took out the braid extension easily.

"I love your hair," I hummed. "So unique."

"You're being sweet today?" she said. "Should I be worried?"

Remain composed.

"I'm always sweet to you," I said. I brought my head down to her ear and whispered, "I'm only mean to you when you want me to be."

Her ears got red as I continued to undo the next braid.

"How do you feel right now, angel?" I asked.

"Still tired," she yawned. "And my arms feel weak right now. I would help you, but I can't hold them up for long."

Remain composed.

"Its okay, I'll do all the work. I don't mind."

She sat in silence as I worked, when all of a sudden my phone rang. Luci reached from behind me and slithered the phone out of my pocket.

"You can unlock it and see who it is," I said.

I didn't have any secrets on my phone, so I figured it wouldn't be a big deal.

"What's your password?" she asked.

"12, 21, 3, 9"

She unlocked my phone as I took out the last braid.

"Seems you have missed calls from Emma," she stated. "A couple of them actually. A few hundred texts from her as well."

"I wonder why she called me?" I replied.

Luci turned around to face me. Her hand rubbed against my thighs, as she mindlessly scrolled through my phone.

"I wonder why her number is still saved," she hummed.

Reminder: Delete Emma's number.

She kept scrolling through my phone and the way she grimaced made my stomach fell.

"You and Emma don't have much convo in these texts," she said. "Just multiple. I mean multiple sexts and nude pictures. You look cute in this one."

"You can delete it," I said quickly.

"I can delete it, you're right," she smiled. "But why haven't you?"

I don't like where this is going.

"It completely skipped my mind I swear."

That part was true. I hadn't even thought to delete anything Emma related in my phone.

"I have a question," she said.

"I might have an answer," I replied.

"I need you to be honest with me, and don't try and spare my feelings. I want to know."

Uh oh.

"Okay..."

"Did you and Emma ever use a condom when you did it or was it always..."

"Are you sure you want to have this conversation?" I cut in.

I really really do not want to have this convo.

"I'm just curious to see what you're used to."

She drew figure 8's on my thighs and inched her finger higher and higher.

"Why does it matter?"

"I just wanna know what you expect from me now that I'm you're girlfriend." she sighed. "Am I supposed to send you nudes too? Do you like the things she wears in these pictures? Do I need to change my wardrobe? Dye my hair blond?"

Where is this coming from?

I blinked hard to register her words.

I don't want you anything like Emma.

"I don't expect anything from you, and don't ever compare yourself to Emma." I said. "Emma was just a girl I occasionally fucked-"

"Yeah for four years," she finished. "Why did you keep her around for so long? With other girls it was a one time thing, but with Emma is was an everyday thing."

She gripped my thigh and gazed up at me with her big brown eyes. She was waiting for an answer that I was not sure I could give.

"I don't see why you're even asking this. It just happened to go on for awhile what am I supposed to say?"

She stood up from the floor and wrapped her hair into a quick bun. Her arms folded against her chest as she glared at me.

"Why are you avoiding the question? I just asked why you decided to fuck Emma for four years and not other girls."

"I don't know, Luci!" I yelled. "I guess it was convenient!"

She winced at my voice, I turned away from her to take a deep breath.

"Okay," she whispered hoarsely. "But did you use condoms with her?"

All cards were on the table. Whatever she wanted to know I would tell her. It wasn't my problem if she got hurt from what she heard.

"No! I didn't. Is that what you wanted to hear? What is this information doing for you?"

She laughed to herself and paced around the room.

"Good to know," she said.

Holy shit Are we arguing right now?

"What else did you two do that I should be aware about?"

"Is this an interrogation now?" I asked. "If so then let me ask you this: What have you and Marcus done that I'm not aware about?"

"What are you talking about?" she scoffed.

If she wanted to point out my past, I was going to point out hers.

"That little under boob tattoo you have with the flowers," I said. "How the hell did he tattoo that you?"

She looked at me like I was out of my mind. I knew how he did it. I just wanted her to say it with her words.

"Do you wanna know?" she asked.

"Yes," I gritted my teeth.

"Are you sure you want to have this conversation?" she repeated my words.

"Don't be a brat," I warned.

"If you must know," she whispered.

She grabbed my hand and placed it over end of her shirt, and my other behind her waist.

"He grabbed me just like this," she said quietly. "Then he lifted my shirt up just like this."

She pulled her shirt up to her chest and forced my hand to hold it below her collarbone. Everything below her neck was revealed. I took a deep breath and let her continue.

"Then," she said. "He did this."

She placed my hand underneath the cup of bra. Her breast rested comfortably in my palm as I lifted it up to reveal her tattoo.

"You know I used to have a crush on him?" she smirked slyly.

I squeezed her breast in my palm. My mind flashed when imagined Marcus doing the same thing.

"Jealousy doesn't feel good, does it?" she teased. "It sucks when someone still has access to whats yours."

This whole conversation happened because you were... jealous?

There were never a whole lot of times where Luci was possessive, but the rare occasions she was made me happy. It was reassurance that she wanted me just as much as I wanted her.

"I'm yours huh?" I asked.

I gripped her waist and pulled her shirt back down. She was catching her breath, but I could tell she was struggling. Her body was indescribably warm against my chest, and I felt her forehead to take her temperature.

"Yup," she smiled. "Don't ever forget it."

She's burning up...

"It's different seeing you jealous," I grinned.

Remain composed Saint. You're okay.

I pulled her warm body in for a hug and squeezed her tightly.

"I'm sorry," I said after our hug. "I didn't mean to get snippy. I just don't like talking about Emma or anyone before you. It makes me feel gross."

Her breathing was deep as she was still trying to catch her breath.

"I'm... sorry... too..." she breathed out. She lost her balance and fell against my chest.

"Hey," I said. I picked her up but it was as if she couldn't stand on her own.

"I... just... need... to... catch my... my..."

Instantly she collapsed in my arm and brought us both down to the floor. I held her body when I noticed her eyes fluttering shut.

"Luci?" I yelled frantically. "What's going on?"

Remain composed. Remain composed. Remain composed.

I placed my hand against her heart and I could barely feel a heartbeat. It was faint, and seemed to be skipping beats. Panic surged through me, as time stood still.

"RODERICK!" I screamed. "MALLORY! CECE! I NEED HELP PLEASE!"

My breaths quickened as I held Luci up to my chest. I didn't know what to do. She was slipping in and out of consciousness and her body was growing cold. Her hair at this point was turning dark brown.

She wasn't breathing anymore, and my anxiety kicked in faster than I could stop.

I placed my mouth over hers to try and give her CPR, but nothing was working.

The door to her room slammed open as, Roderick, Mallory, and Celia flooded into the room. Tears stained my cheeks as they looked at Luci's body on the floor.

Roderick immediately sprung into action and hovered over her. He shouted something at Celia who yelled back at me.

I didn't comprehend anything as my wise eyes stared at Luci's presumably lifeless body.

Mallory screamed so loud that I was sure the windows would break. Celia ran out of the room and came back with a bag. Roderick opened it and pulled out various vials with different color liquids.

Somebody called my name but I couldn't here. My heart felt as if it was physically detaching itself from my body.

I held my throat when I felt a declining inclination to breathe. There was no more air. It was all gone.

And when I saw Roderick pour a liquid down Luci's throat and the way her fingertips were turning blue... I lost all sense of reason.

I stood up and ran out of the room. Everything was blurry as I descended down the stairs. I kept running throughout the house trying to find air.

A door at the end of a hallway caught my attention. When I opened it revealed a massive old library with cobwebs over the books and articles.

I fell amongst a pile of old books and sobbed.

I would not watch my angel die in front of me. I couldn't do it.

"Remain... Remain composed. I am okay," I stammered out. "I am okay."

The library was dark as there were no windows. I saw my reflection on the metal cart in front of me that held books and I broke down all over again.

"I'm... I'm okay," I sobbed.

As my tears dropped against the library floor. I decided that I could lie to myself any longer.

I was not okay.

And if this was how I was going to lose Luci... then I would never be.
