Party, Symbiotes & Spy Kids

A BLACK Honda Civic came to a stop on the street adjacent to Liz Allan's home, the music coming out of its interior was muffled, barely of any disturbance. Emerald green eyes scanned the perimeter of the house, counting approximately forty to fifty teenagers lurking on the main floor. Something unexpected had happened this afternoon. Since Gavin moved in with his siblings yesterday, earlier this morning he went inside Teagan's room when she was asleep and placed a microphone underneath her study desk. What he didn't expect was for her to be smart enough to find it or even suspect there was even a microphone in her room.

Nonetheless, he had gained valuable information this afternoon, all along Christian and him had been seeing the cards wrong. Well, partially wrong, since- after all, Leo does have the symbiote with him. But the item of value was with Teagan, it's been with her all this time, and Gavin couldn't help but wonder what exactly is she trying to achieve here?

It's been two years since he learned he had a half-sister, but instead of spending that time to actually get to know each other, he took off to Xavier's School. He spent two years there, expanding his skill and using it to do good instead of letting that dark side of him poison his future. But it's hard to escape one's true nature, violence was engraved deep in his brain, it's a sensible instinct that gets triggered every time he senses something is wrong. Instead of holding back, Gavin allows it to take control, which is not exactly a moral quality a superhero should have. And by being who he is, Gavin realized his path never led to greatness or becoming a hero, he was damaged goods.

Karmina thought differently, naturally, she carried a unique light that could outshine all his demons with only her presence, and it was due to that light that Gavin was able to see himself as something more. Some paths are never meant to be walked, some people think of them as broken dreams, but the truth of those paths is far more simple. The roads that lead you down the path are meant to shape you, the human being only ever needs a goal to keep them driven and moving. But only when they're about to cross the finishing line do they question themselves if this is really what they want. Gavin learned something, it was okay to change his mind, it was okay to choose a different path than the one that was set out for him. It's never too late. Never.

Incoming call. ID Caller identified: Prime.

"Accept the call." Gavin exhaled softly, eyes never leaving the Midtown student's home. "Gavin, here."

"Where are you? GPS says you're outside of Liz Allan's home." Gavin noticed a car coming to a stop outside the entrance, seconds later two students made it out of the car. One of them was wearing a cowboy hat, Gavin immediately recognized the boy as Ned Leeds, which meant that Peter Parker was the other guy. "Why are you there? Should I be concerned?"

Gavin couldn't truly know, Leo Reeves carried inside him an unidentified species, and it was undetermined whether it was a threat or not. Though, Gavin had a feeling that the real threat wasn't hidden inside that kid. The threat was out there, and it was growing, every month, expanding their circle of trafficking.

"Frankly, I don't think the real threat is within that boy," Gavin spoke, honestly. "I decided to show up because I have a feeling something is going to happen."

Christian let out a long sigh. "Okay, I'll send you some of my men."

"No." Gavin finalized. "If something does happen, and it's out of my hands, you send the cavalry. It's only a gut feeling, nothing literal."

"Okay, if something does go down, you call in for backup. No handling it alone." Gavin nodded. "Also, worst-case scenario and... Teagan gets involved. You protect her. Nothing happens to her, are we clear on that?"

Gavin smirks at the Bluetooth car stereo. "She's my sister too. I wouldn't let anything happen to her."

"Then we're on the same page. Keep me posted." Christian ended the call, leaving Gavin to inspect his surroundings, but it didn't take long for his gut feeling to be right.

Leo Reeves rushed out of the girl's house and took off running. Halfway down the street, the boy merged into the symbiote, Gavin watched him take a huge leap, and disappear into the blackness of the night.

THE party was at its full swing when Teagan Prime arrived. The music was so loud that it made Teagan feel like she had just entered another realm. Teenagers were scattered around the house, the majority were gathered in the living room dancing, some were in the kitchen just chatting and the remaining were standing on the front year with their social circle. This was not Teagan's scene, she didn't mind the crowd or loud music, she just didn't enjoy being in a place with people she barely knew. It was mentally and emotionally draining for her.

She would much rather stay home building Legos with Ned or watching movies on 123series with Kylo.

The youngest Prime gripped the strap of her leather backpack as she made her way through the sea of teenagers. Rake it Up by Yo Gotti and Nicki Minaj blasted from the speakers, Flash was playing DJ- like always- and the crowd seemed to be enjoying themselves. Despite being an insufferable human being, Flash Thompson knew how to entertain a crowd. Teagan even liked this side of him, but she would never admit that to anyone, if anything, Flash Thompson was negative zero to Teagan.

After standing in the hall, like an idiot, Teagan decided to go get herself something to drink, and so she made her way to the kitchen. Upon entry, Teagan noticed a refrigerator chiller on the floor against the kitchen island. She bent down and opened the lid, she quickly made a pick and settled for Lipton tea. She scanned the island surface trying to spot any straws but found none. She sighed and grabbed a red solo cup and poured her Lipton drink in it.

"There's an ice pack in the fridge." The flat voice of Michelle Jones caught Teagan's attention, and she turned to her left. Michelle was improvidently opening a bag of loaf bread, she took out two slices of bread and placed them on the plate.

Teagan raised her eyebrows, but her long bangs hid them. "Oh," she turned toward the fridge and opened it, and effectively, there was the almost empty ice pack. She grabbed some ice with her hand and closed the fridge door, she plopped the ice on her soft drink and nodded gratefully at Michelle. "Thanks."

"Fancy a delicious peanut butter and jelly sandwich?" Michelle asked her as she made hers, Teagan raised an eyebrow at her but shrugged. "Or would you rather have a slice of cold pizza?"

"Uh, hard pass. Peanut and jelly for sure." Teagan gave Michelle a tight smile, the girl with the unruly hair handed Teagan her sandwich and prepared herself another one. "Thanks. I gotta say, I didn't expect to see you here. Liz invited you?"

Michelle inhaled deeply and shook her head, a slice of bread lay on her open palm as she smeared peanut butter on it. "Uh, nope. I just showed up." She shrugged before placing the slice on the plate and smearing jelly before joining both slices together. "I was bored. So I thought, why don't I come and get bored at a party with a bunch of strangers?" She took a bite of her sandwich, and Teagan looked at her with an amusing smirk. "Anyway, something always happens at parties, I will have something to entertain myself."

"Ugh, I hate drama." Teagan's face quickly morphed into one of annoyance, she rolled her eyes and took a bite of her sandwich. Drama reminded her of her family, more precisely, when they were all busy keeping secrets from her. "Not cool. It's messy and hypocritical."

Michelle looked at her through tired eyelids. "It's not the drama that I enjoy. It's when the secrets start to unveil." Teagan tilted her head to the side, clearly interested in what she had to say. "The truth, it's quite inevitable. Hide it, deny it, run from it, nothing that you do is going to prevent the truth from coming out. But humans are cunning, you know,... experts when it comes to doing damage. Usually, when the truth comes out it's almost always with bad intent. And a truth with bad intent beats all the lies you can invent." Teagan slowly munched at her sandwich and swallowed before taking another bite. "That's what I like."

A truth that's told with bad intent beats all the lies you can invent.

Michelle Jones had a point, Teagan admitted to herself. Even if it was clear to her that Michelle had a strange way of thinking, she spoke with reason. Teagan absolutely loathes lies, she would much rather have her heartbroken by the truth than live her life in a web of lies and be hurt in the end once she finds out the real version. And just as she hated lies, she hated promises, and sometimes she even distrusts affection. Teagan allowed her trust issues to poison her entirely to the point she found herself questioning if her family's love was even sincere.

Teagan cleared her throat and looked away from Michelle's dark eyes, she took a sip of her soft drink. Some ice had already melted, so she tasted the water, she carefully moved the cup in a circular motion, mixing the water with the soft drink. "You got issues, Jones." She took a huge bite and finished eating her sandwich.

Michelle shrugged, answering in the same flat tone. "Don't we all?"

"Thorn!" Teagan glanced behind Michelle and noticed Ned waving excitedly, beckoning her. "Over here!"

Ned Leeds and Peter Parker stood by the entrance accompanied by Liz Allan, the latter pulled at the ends of his long sleeve shirt nervously. Peter's brown eyes found Teagan's petite figure as she exchanged words with Michelle Jones, his attention diverted from Liz Allan for a moment as he gave Teagan an awkward smile. The girl with the bangs winked at him playfully and Peter felt heat rushing to his cheeks and ears, he was already under so much stress by being at this party. More precisely, Liz Allan's party.

"Gordo, I freaking love your hat." Teagan complimented her best friend, Peter threw a smile on Ned's way. His friend looked proud seeing as three people had already complimented his hat, he felt like a success. "You're literally like the coolest person in this party."

Ned smiled at Teagan, showcasing his dimples and making him look wholly adorable. "There's pizza and drinks." Liz offered them. "Help yourself."

"Gre-Great party, Liz." Peter complimented, Teagan watched the interaction and was able to notice Liz's friendly smile towards her friend. "Thanks again for inviting us."

Liz opened her plump lips to reply when the sound of something breaking followed by a string of swears, caught her attention. She grimaced and slowly started moving in the living room's direction. "Sorry. I..." She pointed at the living room. "My parents will kill me if anything is broken. I gotta..."

"Yeah, yeah." Peter nodded understandingly.

Ned glanced at the living room trying to locate the mess but found none. "No problem. We'll be around."

Liz smiled at the trio. "Have fun."

Teagan watches her leave, her eyes wander off a little to the left where she came to view Leo Reeves. The teenager was jumping and dancing, his forehead glistening by the shin layer of sweat. He danced along with some girls and his friends from the Lacrosse team, Teagan let out a loud huff, suddenly feeling the weight of the tablet on her backpack.

"Uh..." Teagan shot Leo one last look before standing in front of her friends. "I'm gonna go..."

Ned and Peter shot her a confused look, the latter noticed where her line of sight would often travel to, and he couldn't help but wonder what was going on. "Since when are you and Leo close? I thought you-"

"-Since never." She was quick to cut off Peter, who looked at her with suspicion in his dark brown eyes. "We are not close. Okay?" She widened her eyes in a silent warning. "I'm just doing his sister a favor and looking after his butt."

Ned looked at her confusedly. "But you're no one's babysitter." Teagan breathed out through gritted teeth, her eyes averting to Ned. "Much less Leo's, you said so yourself. Like, countless times."

"I mean, she's not gonna say not to her." Peter jumped in, his Peter tingle sensed her rising anxiety, but he dared not to question her. "If a hospitalized person asked you a favor, would you say no?"

Teagan threw Peter a grateful look but did no more, she needed to get going and fill in Leo on her findings. "See? He gets it, shame on you gordo. I'll see you around. Bye."

Ned and Peter shared a confused glance, both silently agreeing that Teagan was behaving oddly. Though none of them dared to actually question her since the petite teenager is known to have a sharp tongue, and they were low-key, scared to upset her. Prime Herrera made her through the sea of sweaty teenagers, all jumping and attempting to dance with their friends. Teagan scrunched her nose in disgust as she brushed her arm with the sweaty forearm of a guy. The boy continued to vibe and Teagan tried her best not to bump into anyone else, she eventually reached Leo Reeves who was bobbing his head up and would occasionally stop to take a sip of his drink.

"Napoleon." Teagan hissed, coming face to face with the guy's flushed face.

A boyish smile appeared on Leo's face as he saw the grumpy Teagan Prime, he opened his arm as if to hug her. "Optimus Prime, wassah?"

Teagan felt her heart plummeting to the pit of her stomach as a thought crossed her anxious mind. She placed a hand on his chest, preventing him from hugging her, instead, she took a step forward and hissed. "Are you drunk?"

"What? No." Leo shook his head, his face sobering up in an instant. "Liz's parents said no booze. This is just me having fun. This is what fun actually looks like, Prime. You should try it sometime."

Teagan let out a sigh of relief and nodded. "I need to talk to you. I found something."

"About..." He trailed off, his eyes holding the answer to his question, Teagan confirmed his doubts with a nod. "Okay, come on."

Peter saw everything from afar, he watched Teagan walking away with Leo, and soon they disappeared from his sight. The teenager was truly curious about what was going on with them, but perhaps his curiosity came from something else. His train of thought was interrupted by his school nemesis, Flash Thompson, who called his name from a microphone.

"Penis Parker, what's up?" Peter let out a heavy sigh as he stood next to Ned, bracing himself for the inevitable bullying. "So, where's your pal Spider-Man?"

Leo closed Liz's door, the music immediately muffled, giving them a chance to speak without the music working as a third wall.

That was fun, let's do it again!

The youngest Reeves let out a quiet sigh, he had appreciated Heathen's absence when he was on the dance floor. The music was so loud he couldn't even hear himself think, and that was a wonderful break, given that now he not only has to deal with his inner monologue but Heathen's too. Teagan sat on the edge of Liz's bed and unzipped her leather bag before pulling out the tablet with the USB that prevented SIRIUS IT team from tracking down their location.

The Lacrosse team captain immediately rushed toward her upon seeing the familiar device. "You brought that here?!"

"Well, of course, I brought it, dumbass." She turned the tablet on and the map immediately appeared on the screen. "This is what I wanted to show you." Leo sat down beside her and glanced at the screen. "See this? Do you recognize the streets?"

Leo didn't even have to be asked, he was close friends with Liz Allan, so he was familiar with the streets that lead to her house. Teagan observed Leo, sky-blue orbs darted to Teagan's eyes as he looked at her thoughtfully.

"Are you being serious?" Was the first thing that came out of his lips. "No." He shook his head and stood up from the bed, pacing back and forth in front of Teagan. "I know what you're thinking. And the answer is no. You're not going after them."

This is how we get answers, puppet.

Teagan gave him an innocent smile, she brushed her bangs to the side and away from her eyes. "Of course not, I don't really have the necessary skills to go after them... just their location." She said innocently. "But, I was more like thinking that maybe you should go. Well, in your other form. As Heathen."

Upon mentioning his name, Heathen emerged from Leo's back and floated beside him. "We are going."

"Excuse you, I'm the one who calls the shots here, remember?" Leo reminded him, Teagan rolled her eyes at the Leo boy for being so extra. "We talked about this. This is insane. We can't just sneak out on bad guys. We don't even have a plan."

"What you don't have is balls." Heathen was quick to say.

Leo narrowed his eyes on him. "And neither do you, so welcome to the Ball-less club."

Teagan sigh. "Okay, everybody chill. Just chill okay?" She stood up and placed the tablet on the bed. "You are not gonna go in guns blazing. You're just going to spy on them, from a safe distance. Plus, you're not going alone, Heathen is with you and nothing will happen to you as long as he's with you."

"Why are we even spying on them?" Leo asked.

Teagan groaned, covering her face with her hands. "Such a baby. Questions and more questions come from your mouth."

"Excuse me for wanting to know the reason why I'm risking my life for." Leo barked at Heathen.

Teagan ran her hands down and sigh heavily, she placed both hands on his broad shoulders. "Leo, this is our only chance to find out who the people Edward White was secretly spying on. Who knows, maybe we'll gain something useful about Heathen out of that reunion. You don't have to stay there till the end, you can leave if you feel like you're in danger, just trust your instincts."

Leo stared at her hard, he felt extremely uneasy, but Teagan was right. What if they were truly dangerous criminals and his life was in danger, he needed to be one step ahead of them. "Okay. Fine. I'll do it."

"Yay!" Teagan clapped her hands together before turning around and taking out a small case, she opened it and revealed two earpieces. "Here, put this on."

He took the earpieces from her hand and put it on, he looked at her weirdly. "Where do you even get this stuff from?"

"Uh, Christian." She frowned, putting the other one herself. "Who else?"

Leo nodded, already suspecting it. "Say or think what you want, but I'm sure he is secretly James Bond."

Teagan chuckled. "James Bond is too cool for Christian to be him."

"What is James Bond?" Heathen's gravelly voice pulled their attention.

Both teenagers made it out of the room already, having discussed the plan. Teagan was gonna leave the party and was going to guide Leo towards the goons' location through the earpiece. He was going to voice everything out to her, so she could take note of relevant things and even build a report on their founding. Leo Reeves left Liz Allan's home immediately after leaving her room, they tested the earpiece a few times before Teagan gave him the green light.

Her heart was thudding furiously, she felt a sweet adrenaline rush, she bit down on her lower lip as she hurriedly made her way out of the Liz home. She was extra careful nobody saw her leave, well, Ned or Peter, she didn't want them stopping her and asking her why she was leaving so early. Thankfully, she didn't bump into any of her dear friends, so she was able to successfully sneak out of Liz's home.

What Teagan Prime didn't see coming was her older brother making his way toward Liz's door but stopped once she came into view.

"One piece of advice," Gavin Herrera stood a few steps below her, dressed in all black, long sleek hair comb to the side, "if you are going to play detective, try to hide your intentions better."

Teagan was genuinely thrown off guard, just moments ago she was ready for everything. But now that her brother- Gavin, was standing before her with a look that clearly told her that he knew what she was doing, it rendered her speechless.

"How did you...?" But Gavin wasn't the only clever boy of the family, a flash of earlier this day when she found the microphone taped beneath her desk study became present in her mind. "It was you. You f*cking chipped my room."

"So much for not getting into trouble." Gavin reminded her of what she told him that day in the elevator.

Teagan scoffed. "That still doesn't give you the right to do what you did. I'm telling Christian."

"Oh, we will tell him, just not right now." Teagan tensed, Gavin nodded down the street. "I happened to see Leo running down in that direction and transforming into the symbiote your brother is after." Teagan's face paled. "And I'll take a wild guess and say you have Edward White's equipment. A computer and a tablet."

"And what are you going to do?" Teagan pulled herself together and braided her arms over her chest defensively, she tilted her head to the side and narrowed her eyes at him. "Are you going to rat me out to my brother?"

Gavin shrugged. "I could. Problem solved, end of mission. Everybody gets what they want."

"But you're not going to do that." Teagan hinted.

Gavin shook his head. "Everybody seems to be running their own agendas. And I happen to need a guy."

"Who?"

Herrera Killian smirked darkly at his younger sister, he half-turn and motioned with his head at his car parked on the other side of the street.

"I'll tell you all you require knowing on our way."

Teagan slowly walked down the stone path and watched out for the steps. "Way to where?"

"I don't know." Gavin shrugged, smirking at her once again. "I'm not the one with the GPS coordinates."

Holy mother sh*t, Teagan thought.

*read it in Yelena's voice*

How are you adorable and
beautiful people? I hope you
guys are well and your Christmas
spirit is activated! Mine certainly is
😉

I personally love this chapter, it was
fun to write and it took me nearly
three days to write it bc of author's
block (such a pain) but I did it and I
loved it! Leo and Heathen are hilarious
and act like a married couple, do not
try and dissuade me by that won't work.

Also, Teagan being the smart queen she
is pieced together who chipped her room.
Can't wait for next chapter, we'll finally
get more Teagan and Gavin dynamic.

A moment to appreciate Gavin openly
accepting Teagan as his family after
telling himself so many time he has no
family :')
*go little rockstar*

And yep, u guessed right, Christian will
be furious when he finds out what Teagan
is up to... and that's IF he finds out ;)

Take care mis amores 🤍❄☃️
