Arjun's POV (Flashback)
We reached Karthik's home around 5pm local time. His parents were very excited to arrange a our wedding. It's custom that bride and groom don't stay together night before wedding but sweety didn't want to stay away from me.
We both sat in the swing in the lawn after dinner. Karthik and his parents said " don't stay late, you need to look fresh for wedding"
"Arjun, are you sure about wedding?"
"Why are you asking? Do you regret marrying me?" I asked
"Getting married to you is my dream come true, I wanted to marry you ever since I realized I'm in love with you. I never imagined it would become real. Why would I regret?
I know you won't be happy to get married without your family...."
"We will get married in Hindu style after getting consent from our families. I would never regret. I'm very happy for fulfilling your wish"
Sweet started to cry
"What's wrong?" I'm worried what happened to her suddenly
"I'm scared that this is not real Arjun, happiness is not in my fate. I can't live without you"
"Even if your mom oppose, I will take you with me. Life is not the same without you. Even when I didn't know you love me, I loved you, couldn't imagine anyone else in my life.
But..."
"What happened?" She asked nervously
"I don't want to hide anything from you that's why I'm telling. Don't worry about what I'm saying. I will make everything right. Please listen what I'm saying, don't interrupt"
She nodded
"Mom has been asking me to get married since 3 years. I have been postponing. Few months back mom got heart attack..."
"What? How is aunty?" Sweety asked worriedly
"She is good now but weak. Ravi talked to me about my marriage just before I came here. He asked of I have anyone in mind. I couldn't tell about you since I have no idea how you feel about me and problems between our families.
He said 'mom is weak and wish to see my marriage'
I agreed and said 'I will marry any girl of their choice'
Sweet started to cry
"It's in the past, now we both love each other. I'm sure everyone will understand, even if your mom don't agree, I don't care. I will take you with me. I will never leave you" I promised
"What if aunt don't accept me" she asked
"Mom loves you, it's small misunderstanding that happened long back. We love each other, that's what matters. Mom will never disagree. We will be together always"
She looked into my eyes emotionally and laid on my shoulder. I wrapped my arm around her. We were silent after that
I opened my eyes hearing laughter. Sweety jerked away from me seeing Karthik. He is taking our pics
Sweety got up and ran inside
"How romantic? Sleeping in each other's arms in the swing in open space night before wedding? I never knew you are this romantic" he teased
" I will go get ready, don't want to be late for my own wedding. You too get ready, I don't want my best man in pajamas" I said leaving to my bedroom
I got ready, feeling nervous... maybe wedding jitters.
Karthik came and took me to his farmhouse which is decorated beautifully
"Where is Sweety?"
"My parents will bring her"
I waited at the altar waiting nervously for my bride
After what seemed like days, Jo came into my view, looking like an angel holding uncle's arm. Emily and Edward are here. Of course Emily is her braidsmaid
We took wedding vows. Pastor said "now I announce you both wife and husband. You may kiss the bride"
I kissed her on cheek. She turned red like tomato
I had my first dance with Jo. Then we cut the cake and had lunch
Karthik said there is a surprise and took me to his home while Jo went with his parents and Emily
"Why is Jo going in different car? We just got married" I complained
"Wait till evening" he said
Afternoon went slowly. Don't know why I feel anxious staying away from my wife.... Wife? Sweety is my wife now officially. That feeling itself giving me butterflies in my stomach.
After what seemed like forever it was evening. Karthik made me eat dinner though I didn't want to. Now we are in the car
"Care to tell where we are going at least now"
Karthik laughed "obviously to your wife, wait few more minutes"
After sometime we reached beach house. It's beautiful. Karthik gave me white kurta pajama to wear. There is no sign of Jo. I wore it, he took me to bedroom in the 2nd level. It's beautifully decorated with roses. That's when it stuck to me, it's my wedding night.
"What happened man, you are blushing" Karthik teased
"What can I do, everyone celebrates first night with wife. Im stuck with my friend"
"No way, im leaving. Your wife will be here soon. All the best" he winked leaving
I felt nervous, my palms are sweating and feel cold. Why am I feeling like this. It's my Sweety, I have known her all my life
After sometime Sweety came in white saree looking so beautiful. I guess Emily left her at the door. I heard her say "all the best"
Sweety stood at the door nervously holding glass, guess it's milk. Watched in many movies but never thought I will have typical first night arrangement. Emily pushed her inside and closed the door
