☆☆Tell Me, Love is Endless, Don't Be So Pretentious☆☆

Still in Taehyung's POV

Kim Taehyung and Park Jimin became inseparable after that.

Kim Taehyung was thankful that he had Jimin by his side starting that day. Park Jimin, who got to come into his life by accidentally fly kicking a soccer ball in their yard and managing to almost broke his nose. Park Jimin, who was no doubt like a walking puppy kitty, was always way too happy, way too kind, and softhearted. Park Jimin, who would always invite himself in their home to play with him with his neverending stories to tell and toys to share.

After being together a lot of times from that day onwards, Kim Taehyung figured lots of things about Park Jimin. Things like, they were actually going into the same school all this time but belonged to different classes that's why they only crossed paths until now.

He also realized that Jimin likes to play soccer, like a lot. Which, he also used to play a lot before when everything's still right in his life. When his mom is still alive.

Park Jimin also likes to talk a lot but he also likes listening to him, although he doesn't do that often. He still isn't used to sharing about himself after his mom left them, finds it hard to do so. But Jimin was always patient with him, doesn't bother him, and always changes topics when he took too long to respond when Jimin asked something he couldn't give an answer to.

Jimin always brings him snacks, tells him that it was prepared by his mother. Even in school, Park Jimin always makes sure to join him during break times and lunchtime to share snacks and foods with him.

At first, he was embarrassed because he could feel the eyes of the other kids on him. Maybe they were wondering how a kid like him, a once loner, suddenly get to be friends with Park Jimin who seemed to be everyone's favorite buddy.

And that brings to the realization that Park Jimin has a lot of friends. It was like everyone in school knows him, wanted to be friends with him. He just has this certain aura wherein you wanted to naturally orbit around him. But he also realized that Jimin only joins him during lunch. He even refused to join his other friends when they asked him, telling them that he can't.

"I'm sorry, let's play later, okay? I'll eat with Taehyungie," is what he would always say.

One time, he straight up told Jimin that it's not his obligation to join him during lunch or hang out with him most of the time. Although he enjoys Jimin's presence, he was afraid that the other kids would get mad at him for stealing Park Jimin. Well, it's not like he was trying to, but it felt like that.

But when Jimin only smiled at him and told him that he wanted to hang out with him more than the others, he felt really special. For the first time after he lost his mother, he felt like he could smile once again.

And it was all because of Park Jimin.

Park Jimin, who smiles ever so brightly and gives hugs ever so tightly. Park Jimin, who happened to crawl into his heart unwarranted became his anchor. . .and his soulmate.

As they stayed together and were joined by the hip almost all the time, it was only natural that their parents also found a way to be friends with each other, or particularly his father and Jimin's mother.

He rarely sees Jimin's father and he once doubted if he was even present in their family but he doesn't want to ask Jimin since it would seem rude. Jimin's uncle comes to play with Jimin a lot when he was on vacation though, but he also had his own studies and work so most of the time, it was just Jimin and his mother. But when Jimin told him once how jealous he was that he gets to at least spend the weekend with his father, he finally got the courage and asked why that was.

But to his relief, Jimin said that it was because his father was busy at work, usually spends his days outside the country for business so he rarely comes home. But Jimin told him how proud he was of his father since even though he knows his father was tired, he never missed calling every day to tell him he missed and loved them. After seeing Jimin's genuine happiness by just talking about his father, his relief grew even more.

No wonder Jimin's mother would invite him for dinner when his own father would come home late from work. She always says that it's merrier when all three of them would eat dinner together.

And no matter how many times he refused, saying that he was okay, Jimin's mother would still insist kindly so even though he was still shy, he got over it when Jimin's mother assured him that it was no worries since he's Jimin's best friend now.

His father would knock at the Park's household to fetch him at around ten, sometimes later so as days go by, it just became a routine to just sleepover at Jimin's room every time the clock strikes past ten.

His father was against it at first, bothered that Taehyung would inconvenience their neighbors. But with him and Jimin's convincing and even Mrs. Park's plead, his father soon gave in but made him promise to still sleep with him during the weekends where his schedule is a little lighter.

So when it would be past ten, as he and Jimin were about to sleep after a long night of movie marathon, playing games, and eating midnight snacks Mrs. Park prepared for them like always, he didn't question it every time he thinks he still hears the doorbell downstairs.

Maybe his dad forgot the time. Again. Or maybe it wasn't even his father who hits the doorbell. He would've fetched him home but there was never a call of his name downstairs.

At least at that time. . . that was what he thought.

Years passed just like that. Their routine not getting broken as their bond grew stronger as years go by with them spending time with each other.

Even when Park Jimin confessed to him whilst crying all worried that he might like boys rather than girls, he only told him that he doesn't care. That he's still the same Park Jimin that he loved and adored.

It was in their 7th grade, on a particular sunny weather that he finds Jimin sitting there by the tree at the back of their schoolyard all alone. They were supposed to meet there after school but since Jimin didn't come to school with him that morning, he figured that he would be there and he was right.

But the sight of Jimin's crouched body, with his arms hugging his knees and head buried on his arms made him alarmed. When he called his name in a panic to ask if Jimin was hurt, Jimin only stared at him with widened eyes as if he was startled. He looked afraid of him, eyes shaky and he even began to look anywhere but him.

He asked him again if he was fine, and just like that, Park Jimin wiped away his tears, shrugged it off, and smiled forcefully at him as if he wasn't just crying a few moments ago.

"I'm fine, Tae. Just. . . just watched something sad earlier," Jimin still didn't look at him, probably embarrassed. He could only sigh though, sitting beside Jimin as he hugs his best friend sideways.

"You watched those sad animal videos again, didn't you? I told you not to watch those since you can't handle that," he scolded softly, still hugging Jimin who didn't say anything back and only hugged him even tighter.

That time, he didn't pry much into it.

He wished he did now.

And in their 7th grade, a few months after he saw Jimin crying on their spot at the back of their school, he found out about Jimin's parents' divorce.

And the reason behind it.

He really didn't mean to overhear anything. He just went to the Park's household after his lessons ended to ask Jimin to play with him when he heard shouting through the door just before he was about to knock.

He perceived the voices to be of Mr. Park's and Jimin's mom. She sounded distressed and he could even hear her crying.

But after he heard Jimin's father say something he wouldn't have heard if he didn't decide to go straight to Jimin's home, he felt his feet moving on their own.

"You were cheating on me with our neighbor! IN OUR OWN FUCKING HOME FOR GOD'S SAKE and all you could say was sorry?!!!"

It continued to echo in his head repeatedly like a broken record.

He runs straight towards his own home, runs upstairs to his room only to see Park Jimin sitting on his bed crying silently. When Jimin looked up, he couldn't even sympathize with him this time. His hands balled into fists, his insides boiling inside. He was mad and frustrated.

"You knew it that time, didn't you?" It was all that he managed to say.

It was like Jimin started figuring out that he also found out already that he stood up abruptly. But when Jimin tried to walk towards him with streaks of tears still running down his cheeks, he could only step back, hatred flashing over his eyes.

"You knew all this time yet you. . ." He paused as he goes, also feeling the wetness on his own cheeks, "yet you kept it a secret."

Jimin walked towards him for the second time only for him to step back once again.

"N-No, Tae! I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to keep it from you, I just didn't--"

"Get out," He didn't let Jimin finish.

"Taehyungie, p-please listen to me, I'm sor--"

"GET THE HELL OUT OF MY LIFE!!! GET OUT! GET OUT!" He pulled Jimin away and pushed him out of his room when Jimin still didn't move the second time. And no matter how hard Jimin banged on his door crying and sobbing, he didn't let him in.

Maybe he should've done that long ago.

Maybe if he didn't let Jimin in his life that time, then he would've been fine. Maybe his father wouldn't have done what he did. Maybe his father wouldn't have also seen his mom on her.

Maybe he would've been fine alone.

And maybe he wouldn't have done what he did after.

☔️

Everything changed afterward.

Kim Taehyung, still blinded by his wrath for Park Jimin keeping everything a secret from him, decided to take matters into his own hands. In his barely 13 years old's self's perception, he didn't think of the possible consequences of what he did.

So when the rumors he spread online on their school's blog post as an unknown user about Jimin's mom being a slut for having an affair and Park Jimin being gay, he didn't feel anything.

Even when he met Jimin's begging eyes through the hallways as if he knew that it was him who spread the rumors, he couldn't seem to feel guilty. He just looked away and walked out of the scene. Although there was also a part of him that was telling him to go back to Jimin, he didn't.

Even when Jimin ran after him to talk to him, he just straight up lied and told him that it wasn't him. Betrayal sets behind Jimin's eyes soon after, but he still smiled at him like he always did.

Jimin told him that he believed him although his excuse was such bullshit. Of course, they both know that it was him who did it. He was the only person Jimin told about his sexual orientation. Jimin's parents don't even know as he was still scared of what comes after.

It was like his mind and heart got closed off. Because when Jimin told him that it was fine and it wouldn't matter anyway after a few days, he only told Jimin that he doesn't want to be friends with him anymore.

He saw Jimin break down right before his eyes, in their very spot in that schoolyard. But he was only stoic, still mad at the situation they were in because of Jimin and his mother.

So instead of consoling Jimin and hugging him to apologize like he had always done before whenever they'd have their petty fights, he walked away from Jimin the second time that day.

Back then, he didn't realize the cruelty of not giving Jimin the decision to tell that part about himself.

Although Jimin didn't stop trying to still befriend him like he was the one who did wrong, Taehyung just pushed him off every chance he gets. Even when he saw that the friends whom Jimin used to hang out with refused to play with Jimin anymore, he remained stubborn about not being friends with Jimin.

Jimin continued to talk to him, treat him like his best friend like always, stick to his side like nothing's wrong. When one day, he couldn't bear with Jimin anymore, he exploded and shouted right at Jimin's face something he shouldn't have and still regretted.

"Could you stop sticking to me like a leech?! I never want to be friends with you anymore so why can't you get that in your stupid brain, loser?!" He didn't even realize that he shouted those words, but the murmurs and the way Jimin's eyes turned wide and teary in a few seconds tell him that he should've controlled his temper.

And no matter how much he hated the situation they were in, he still shouldn't have said that to Jimin.

To console himself, he shrugged everything off as a temporary situation. He thought that the rumors would only last a few days or a week at most. Because isn't that how rumors were? They were only interesting the first few days.

But as days go by, and as he and Jimin started to drift apart solely because he pushed Jimin away, the rumors still remained.

Park Jimin, who used to be the most favored boy in their school. . . became outcasted.

☔️

Months passed by on a whim.

He found friends to keep him company. Or more like, Jimin's old friends asked him to be Jimin's replacement in their group. He wasn't really sure if they're really his friends because all they did was make fun of Jimin and other kids.

It wasn't the usual friendship he was used to. Not like he had a lot of experience since he was only friends with Jimin before. But they weren't now so he shouldn't care.

He refused to still ignore the sad truth that Jimin and he doesn't hang out anymore, neither do they talk. Sometimes they would bump into the hallways or meet each other's eyes but he only looks away. Because Jimin doesn't seem like he has any plans to.

And when instances wherein he would hear the other kids talking behind Jimin's back, or when other boys would straight up make fun of Jimin for always eating alone in the cafeteria or playing by himself, he refused to acknowledge it. He pretended like Park Jimin never existed.

He doesn't know if he was still mad, or maybe it was guilt that was eating him inside. But every time he would happen to look at Jimin's way, who always stays alone now unlike before when he was surrounded by the other kids, he feels his chest tightening uncomfortably.

It wasn't his fault.

That's what he always tells himself when that familiar feeling occurs to him.

But was it also Jimin's?

Too bad though. . .

Because it was too late when he realized the answer to that question.

☔️

It was only in their 9th grade, a year or so that Taehyung and Jimin stopped talking and it finally sank into Taehyung the weight of what he did.

He didn't really intend to use that restroom at the farthest part of their school building. But since one of his teachers asked him to deliver their class' projects to the faculty room right after the end of their classes for the day, he had no choice but to go to where the said room was located.

And it just so happens that the only restroom in that part of the building was currently occupied when his bladder decided to release all the bottles of water he drank during their godforsaken basketball game (which he despises by the way) during their P.E. class.

When he was left considering to just go back to the main floor on the building, he so luckily saw another restroom sign to one of the farthest hallways. He knew that the restroom was currently under renovation for a few days now since one of the faucets was reportedly leaking.

As he expects that it wouldn't be occupied. And students wouldn't also be lingering around by that time since it was already the end of their classes. So the last thing he expected was to see two figures inside the restroom the moment he stepped in.

One was standing with his back on the wall, the other hovering over the smaller who looked busy doing something he first couldn't comprehend. But the way the two were positioned close to each other, it was easy to tell that they were doing something intimate.

But the moment he met those familiar set of eyes, he froze on his feet.

At first, he thought he was wrong but after staring for another second, he realized that he wasn't.

It was really Park Jimin who stood there with his back on the wall.

But something seemed different.

Jimin was staring at him with a blank expression on his face, his eyes looked so empty. His hands hold onto the guy's shoulders languidly as he just lets the guy touch him and kiss his neck.

But it was when he finally sees Jimin's soft smile directed towards him that he lost it.

He quickly jumped in and pulled the fucker's collar off of Jimin, pushing the other away as far as possible from Jimin.

"WHAT THE FUCK, DUDE?!" The guy shouted but as he recognized that it was one of his so-called friends, who was also one of Jimin's old friends, he saw his own reflection flashing back on the guy's own eyes and he just snapped.

He threw a punch as the fucker stumbled, not letting the other recover from the blow. He just keeps on throwing punches after punches as he hovers on top of the guy. He feels his fist shaking wildly but he only stopped when the dude started choking for him to stop with his ugly beaten face.

He could only stare at the fucker, his chest heaving as he breathes heavily. When he found the will to stand and check on Jimin who was still just standing there looking emptily at the same fucker he wanted to still beat to death, he finally broke down.

Jimin's uniform was disheveled, his shirt buttons and belt were undone and his pants shows the line on his hips. There were ugly marks on his skin, a few on his collarbone, and what looked like a bite on his neck.

All he could do was pull Jimin against his body, hugging him tighter whilst he cried and sobbed against his shoulder.

He did this to him.

He fucking did this to him.

Even after he dragged Jimin towards his room and straight to the bathroom to help him wash up, the guilt that started to slowly swallow his insides didn't stop consuming his thoughts.

It only got worse when he helped Jimin undress. Because the moment Jimin removed the top of his uniform, he saw the state that Jimin's body was in. He looked unhealthily thin, his ribcage slowly showing. There are bruises decorating his soft skin. There were a few on the side of his waist, one that was peeking from his hips. The most obvious one was on his left rib which was starting to turn darker. He also had a hand mark on his right arm which looked new and he could only clench his jaw knowing who did it.

He didn't notice earlier but Jimin's left cheek was also red, dried blood forming on his busted lip. His eyes started blurring, his hands shaking as he reached out to touch Jimin's left cheek, his other hand touching the hand mark on Jimin's right arm as if afraid that he'll hurt Jimin even more.

He couldn't even dare to look up and take a glance at Jimin's eyes. He doesn't even know if he should be touching Jimin right now, or if Jimin was just as disgusted to him as he was to himself.

"Don't cry, Tae. . ." He feels Jimin's cheek seeking comfort from his shaking hand, that familiar soft and gentle touch holding onto his other hand. He didn't even realize that he was crying yet again. It had been too long ever since he heard Jimin's voice and it only breaks his heart.

"Does anyone ever tell you that you look really ugly when you cry?" Jimin tells him before chuckling softly, trying to lighten the mood but he could only feel the bile at the back of his throat. He remembered telling Jimin the same thing before.

"Did they. . ." His voice cracks in the middle and he swallows it up. He couldn't say it.

"No," Jimin replied to him after a pause, "They haven't yet."

That only broke him even more. Because it sounded like Jimin was already aware that that could happen. And his thoughts immediately went back to earlier, endless thoughts buzzing in his head.

Because what if he didn't happen to be there? What if he was too late? What would happen then?

When he finally got the courage to look up and stare at Jimin's eyes, he breaks down for the second time. Because despite everything he did to Jimin, that kind and gentle gaze was still what met him. There were no marks of hatred, only that soft lingering gaze.

How could Park Jimin still smile so warmly and stare so kindly at him despite what he did?

"I'm sorry. . . I'm s-so sorry, J-Jimin. . ." He sobbed and continued with his apologies. He uttered it, again and again.

And even though Jimin told him that it was okay and assured him that it wasn't his fault, he didn't forgive himself. He knew he doesn't deserve it. He doesn't deserve Jimin's forgiveness.

He was so blinded by his rage, from his father getting involved with Jimin's mother, for Jimin keeping it from him, and from himself for letting his friendship with Jimin collapse just like that. He was so stupidly selfish, only thinking about himself that he didn't even consider for a second what Jimin had been going through.

He forgot that he wasn't the only one whose family got broken. He wasn't the only one who felt the betrayal from his own parent. And as he gets swallowed by his hatred towards his father for doing something shameful and unforgivable. . . Jimin was there, struggling on his own with his parent's divorce, the aftermath of the rumors escalating and him being outed not on his own accord.

Jimin was struggling this time all along, probably worse than him. Yet he wasn't even there when Jimin needed him the most.

Just what type of soulmate could do such a thing?

"Thank you for saving me earlier, Tae. . ." He felt even more guilty, wished that Jimin hadn't said such a thing.

How could he even save Jimin?

When he was the one who ruined him in the first place?

After that day, he promised himself that he would never leave Jimin's side again no matter what. And even though he doesn't think he could ever forgive himself for what he did, he would still do everything to make it right with Jimin once again.

In return, he made Jimin promise that he would tell him if anything happens, wouldn't keep things to himself, and that they wouldn't shut each other off again.

They caught up on a lot of things that they missed. Jimin told him that he fell in love with writing, said that it became something important to him. That writing was what saved him from his own thoughts and that he wanted to pursue it in the future.

At first, he worked hard on also loving Jimin's passion for writing out of guilt for the times they missed. But as it went on, he fell in love with Jimin's characters instead, got curious about how it would be to actually see the stories in real life. And it made him love acting as a result instead.

He started working a part-time job as well and moved out of his own home when he had enough money saved, resulting in him losing contact with his father. He couldn't bear to look at his father and not think of what his father did anymore so he just had enough. He told his father that as long as he was involved with Jimin's mother, he wouldn't come back.

He got himself his own small apartment and it was hard to live by himself at first but afterward, he got used to it. His father still pays for his tuition so the least he could do was finish his studies and attend school.

Jimin's father won full custody of Jimin after the divorce was settled. Jimin didn't give him the full details but all he knew was that Mrs. Park left and was no longer living with them. But when he decided to visit his father again one time, with their house already open for a new tenant, he disappointedly figured out what his father's decision was.

Everything got better again at some point.

They both transferred school and Jimin also got his own apartment. Part of him knew that it might be because Jimin doesn't want to stay in their old home anymore which will only remind him of what happened but he didn't ask Jimin anything about it.

But the drastic change in Jimin got also discernible.

They hang out like before and their friendship and bond got stronger as days go by like nothing happened. Jimin got even better and happier when they met Hoseok and the three of them became best friends with Hoseok sharing Jimin's interest in dancing as a hobby.

But it was during their first year in university that Jimin changed completely. He started sleeping around, started dragging him to parties and clubs, causing trouble that always gets him in detention and sometimes skips classes.

Even though that didn't really affect Jimin's still kind and caring nature which was only reserved to him and Hoseok then, it just got more obvious that Jimin changed a lot.

Jimin didn't care if people started rumors about him anymore, in fact, he looked like he thrives in it. He was openly gay although he sometimes was seen making out with other girls at parties. The people around him don't seem to mind though. It only made them want Jimin even more.

But he would rather have this Jimin. The tough and sassy one who doesn't let himself be pushed around rather than the Jimin who just lets people hurt him.

Although he, of all people, knows that there was more there is to that. He could tell that Jimin might've changed but he also knows that Jimin started forming a shield around himself. It was obvious that there was a line he always drew between the others and himself.

And he still blames himself for that.

☔️⛈☔️⛈☔️⛈

Jungkook's POV

"I still feel guilty, you know? And I know I deserve it. . . I won't let myself forget what happened because I did that to him." Taehyung mumbled, still holding the now cold cup of coffee in his hands as he stared at it.

"After that, Jimin started to hate the very idea of love or anything that has to do with it. I always asked him why," Taehyung chuckles but it wasn't out of amusement. It sounded sad even to Jungkook's ears.

"And he would always say that if his mom, who had loved his father for God knows how long could just love another person that easy enough to just up and leave them like that. . ." Jungkook sees the way Taehyung's lips curved up bitterly, ". . .then he doesn't want to do anything with it."

"But I know he doesn't mean that. . . I know that he's just scared that he'll end up like his parents." Taehyung finally meets his gaze, that serious look still on his face but it wasn't as stern as that moment when he opened the door for him. There was something more behind those eyes as if Taehyung was trying to tell him something.

"So. . . do you still think that Jimin did it?" Taehyung asked him seriously. It wasn't direct but he already knows what Taehyung was asking him. But this time he didn't doubt the answer in his head.

Jungkook only seemed to realize how much he really fucked up.

"Oh, and I think this is yours," Taehyung brought down his cup on the coffee table, fishing out something out of his pants. When he retrieved it, he handed it to him and he was confused for a second because he doesn't know of any possessions he could have from Taehyung.

But when he looked at what it was, he furrowed his eyebrows. Confused as to why it was in Taehyung's hand right now, he gave Taehyung a look. He almost didn't remember what it was, to be honest, but it looked way too familiar to mistake it because indeed, it was once his. But it had been so long, really. He almost forgot about it.

Almost as if Taehyung could read his mind, he spoke before he could.

"If you're wondering how I got this, then I should be telling you that I got this from Jimin." At the end of Taehyung's sentence, Jungkook looked up in alarm.

"What?"

Taehyung placed the hard drive on the coffee table, sighing as he did. "Look, I'm only telling you this because even though you might seem like an asshole and you still are in my fucking eyes, by the way," Taehyung interrupted his own speech with a roll of his eyes, "I also can't deny that you make Jimin happy and that's all that matters to me. . . So I'm giving you this chance to prove yourself or I won't stay still. If you hurt him again, I won't let Jimin ever see you again and I'll make sure of it."

"But if you're still involved with that woman or whoever the fuck she is in your life then don't involve Jimin in it. He doesn't deserve any of that shit and I won't let you drag him in it." Taehyung spoke with finality, his demeanor turning as stern as before. It was a clear warning.

Taehyung stood up like he couldn't stand being in the same space as him anymore. He just up and started walking straight towards his door, not even giving him a single glance.

"Thank you," Jungkook still managed to utter softly, contemplating his mistakes.

"Don't," was what Taehyung said after he paused just as he was about to walk out the door. "I didn't do this for you. I did it for Jimin."

"And I hope that this would be the last time you make Jimin cry," Taehyung left then, leaving him to a realization that all this time, their lack of communication was the root of all their misunderstandings after all.

And Taehyung doesn't need to remind him that. Because he, as well, wouldn't want to see Jimin cry anymore because of him.

But he also still couldn't believe it. . .

Couldn't believe how Jimin could be so utterly stupid.

Since when did Jimin know about Lisa anyway?

"Fuck," he cursed as he grabbed a hold of his hair in frustration, "Park Jimin, you dimwit," he utters in more annoyance. Because the more he thinks about it, the more he gets frustrated.

But instead of doing something irrational like probably act all brusque and impatient by dragging Park Jimin's ass all the way back to him, he tries to calm himself and think of something more rational.

So instead of doing what he really wanted to do, he fished out his phone from his pocket and dialed for someone's number. It was answered by the second ring.

"Adjust the schedule of the exhibit and make an official announcement of the changes about the date, we'll do it by Wednesday." That was three days from now, and three days early from the supposed planned schedule.

"B-But Mr. Jeon, it wasn't planned until Saturday.

And I think that the schedule would be changedcompletely if we--"

"Did you not hear what I said, Ms. Cha?" He cuts his secretary from the other line. "I said to adjust it. Make sure it would be done by then." He cuts the phone call even though he still hears his secretary about to say something.

He's already aware that his own schedule would turn even more hectic by then and it would only inconvenience everyone in their company but he doesn't really seem to care. He's been working on that exhibit for a few months now after a few years, causing him to be busy all the time. He wanted it to be perfect and telling his secretary to suddenly rush the process and make changes might be risking his main plan but he really needed to rush it.

Because he couldn't wait to drill it to one certain stubborn birdbrain, with a nasty temperament and a huge-ass attitude what he should be knowing instead of suddenly jumping to conclusions.

Park Jimin might be difficult as hell.

But he's Jeon Jungkook.

If he's good at one thing, then it was at being persistent.

He will make sure that Park Jimin would clearly understand his intentions this time.
