In honor of me finishing one month of intern when I was writing this.
This is completely fictional, nothing in this is how I am like in real life.
Your POV
I was slowly counting the days until I received my first pay from my internship. I have experience working part time but nothing as serious as this. I was excited to spend my first paycheck with my family and I was logging into the online bank statement to check if the pay had come in.
As my eyes scan through the screen, the first transaction was the deposit coming in from the company I was interning for. I fist pumped in the air that the day was finally here. I ran down the stairs yelling. "Mom! Do you want to go out today?"
"Why are you so excited?" Scarlett placed down her phone and looked at me.
"I... No reason. I'm sick and tired of staying at home." I took a bite off the sandwich that she was eating.
"Sure. Where do you want to go?" Mom asked.
"Anywhere. Are we asking...?" I walked away with the plate of sandwich in my hand.
"Rose?" She answered.
"And..."
"Colin? He's working. He's not going to be able to make it." Mom snatched the plate away from me. "Don't push your luck. Go and get Rose ready." I took the sandwich and ran off without the plate.
"Hey!"
I knocked on Rose's door before entering, she may be younger than me but we respect each other's privacy and space. "Rose? Mom and I are heading out. Do you want to come along with us?"
"Yeah yeah!" She came running and hugging my legs, her head reaching my waist. "Where are we going?"
"Where do you want to go?" I gave her the choice.
"To the mall!" She punched the air.
"Okay. Can you change your own clothes?" Rose responded by darting to her closet and choosing her clothes as I went back down to wait for her with mom.
"Rose said she wants to go to the mall."
---
We got into mom's car after Rose came down dressed in her new clothes. I was a bit stunned when she asked me to carry her which was weird since she usually asks for mom's. I blinked a few times to make sure this was real. Mom had to nudge me slightly before I bent down to carry Rose.
"Y/N!" Rose shouted as she held my face.
"That's me." I replied. I could see why adults like children so much. They can be a handful at times but they are able to brighten your days in an instant.
We left for the mall and Rose continued to ask me to carry her while we were shopping. Mom tried offering to help carry Rose but she clung onto my neck whenever mom asked. I shrugged my shoulders, having no idea what was going on with Rose today.
Soon, my arms got tired. Let's be real here, she ain't the lightest and I don't have the muscle that mom has built up over the years carrying Rose and such so I had to place her on the ground and let her walk. Even then, she made sure she never let go of my hands as we looked through the mall for her toys.
"I want this!" Rose picked out a toy from the shelves.
"Legos?" I never understood why kids liked playing with Lego so much, maybe I don't have a creative enough mind or patience to build anything with it. "Let's ask mom if she's okay with it."
Rose started whining and I had to hush her before bringing more attention to us. "Mom should be okay with it. You have been a good girl right?"
"But I didn't let mummy carry me."
"Aww. Don't worry about it. I'll ask mom okay? Just watch. I'll cast magic." I stretched my hands for her to take and we found mom who was in another section. I passed the Lego and looked at her without saying anything and she understood everything, obviously the Lego wasn't mine. Scarlett tilted her head and looked at Rose who was hiding behind my legs before accepting the Lego.
I turned around and whispered to Rose. "See, I told you everything would be fine." She started giggling into my arms. Mom got a few groceries before we headed for food since we have been here for quite some time.
Again, Rose asked to sit on my lap instead of mom's. I told her she could as I passed her the kid's menu but she had to sit on her own or at mom's when the food came because I want to eat in peace. How was I supposed to eat properly when there's a human blocking it's path?
I passed her off to mom when the food came because I knew she was never going to sit alone quietly. The dinner was great as Rose behaved in mom's arms, she surely was an expert at feeding Rose and herself. She would try to get Rose to feed herself using the fork herself a few times so she could sneak in a few bites here and there.
By the time mom was driving back home, Rose was falling asleep in my arms. "Why do you think she was not letting me go today?" I asked quietly, trying not to wake Rose up.
"She told me she's been wanting to play with you but I told her no since you were stuck in your room doing work." Mom answered while still paying attention to the road.
"No wonder she didn't want you to carry her." I mumbled. No one likes being told no.
"She missed your attention and I'm pretty sure she's sick of being around me already."
"Aww... Do you need me to comfort you too?" I teased.
"Ew! No, what the heck? I'm your mom."
"Nobody says you can't receive comfort after becoming a parent." I retorted.
"Seeing you getting along with Rose is enough."
"Well, if you say so." Not pushing any further. I put Rose back to bed as we reached home and sat down with mom to watch a movie. I got up to take a drink and extended the invitation to mom but she shook her head with a smile. I took a can out of the fridge and whipped my phone out, pressing a few buttons.
If I told mom I was going to pay for Rose's toys, groceries and the food, she was definitely going to reject it. I took note of how much each transaction was as she paid as the cashier and wrote it down on my phone. The beauty of online payment, with a click of a few buttons, cash is transferred off from my account into mom's.
I placed the phone into my back pocket and sat back down with her. I passed her the can of drink in case she changed her mind but she shook her head regardless. We continued watching the movie as I snuggled with her. Like mom said, I have been stuck in my room working and the only time I truly get to relax was on weekends. It was my first time working for something that really have a consequence if I made mistakes, I kept thinking if I made any error even after work.
I like spending time with mom, she helps me relax and destress. When the movie was rolling the end credits, I asked mom. "Can you sleep with me tonight?"
"Sure. What's wrong?" Mom held my hands and asked worriedly.
"Nothing." I shook my head. "I just like spending time with you."
"Okay. Let's go." It was my turn to clung onto mom like Rose did on me. I was only slightly lighter than mom but she was able to carry me no problem. We were cuddling in bed when mom suddenly said. "I know what you did."
I snapped my head at her. "What did I do?"
"Care to tell me why I have a notification of money transferred to my account from the name of Y/N Johansson?"
"Since when?" I didn't notice she checked her phone.
"When we were watching the movie. I didn't have to unlock my phone to check." She replied. "You don't have to do this each time you receive your paycheck."
I chuckled and snuggled my head into her chest. "Oh you don't have to worry. This is only a one off thing. You think too highly of me. I only paid half."
"I love you baby." Mom said, kissing my forehead.
"I love you too." I mumbled, quickly falling asleep in mom's arms.

Nope, not as generous. I didn't spend it willingly.
I did spent the money on my parents for dinner but that was because they kept talking about how I have enough money to treat them for dinner.
