" george harrison and his guitar „

JOCELYN FELT IDIOTIC, to say the least. She sat outside the big dark, oak brown door, listening to Sirius's deep voice explain the trauma that he had just gone through. The girl continued to ridicule the poor boy about his home life and although she didn't know much about it, she couldn't help but feel the emotion of regret fall over her.

As the large door opened, Euphemia gently grasped her arm, "don't speak for too long, he's tired," she whispered. The girl nodded before going to knock on the door. She hesitated before tapping the door timidly.

"Hi." The door opened slightly. Sirius could only see half of Jocelyn, with the door covering the other half. She looked timid, almost shy. Which was a rare occurrence and might've scared Sirius more than anything that happened that night.

"You can come in, I'm not gonna bite," he smiled. She silently walked in, sitting opposite Sirius. The awkward silence radiated every which way. A straight line formed on Sirius's mouth as he sat up properly, his legs wide and his elbows leaning comfortably against them. His right leg bounced up and down dully. His fingers curled into each other professionally as his eyes darted in every direction except Jocelyn's.

Jocelyn, however, was looking directly at Sirius, guilt flooding her mind. She took a deep breath before saying; "I am so so so so sorry. I had no idea. If I knew that your family was like... that. I would never have brought it up. I only taunted you with it because I knew it pissed you off. I just- I feel terrible! Like I was rubbing it in your face or something! Again, If I even had an inkling that your family was like that I wouldn't have even mumbled a sentence about your parents. Godric, I cannot express how sorry I am, really, Sirius I-"

"Joyce! Chill out! It's ok! You didn't know and I didn't expect you to know, I'm just upset I didn't leave earlier."

Another beat of silence spread through the room like melted butter before, "are you missing anything? Did you leave anything at your house? Anything you need?"

Yeah, Regulus, "No, that's ok Joyce. Thanks though."

Sirius moved slightly, making the work of art his mother bestowed upon him the centre of Jocelyn's attention.

"Holy Merlins ear! Oh, your hair!" Joss covered her mouth in shock.

"Yeah..." Sirius chuckled awkwardly, not knowing what to say. "I-I can cut it for you... If you'd like." Jocelyn noticed Sirius hesitance before explaining, "I did James's and it doesn't look shit if I do say so myself. You can say no obviously! But I'm not going to bed yet and I'd be shocked if you can go to sleep right now and I totally understand if you don't trust me and I would say mum can do it but it just means you have to wait until the weekend because she's got Christmas dinner and the party and then she goes to work for a week and then its new years soooo."

"Just a suggestion," she smiled after rambling.

Sirius glanced at the window nearby. His reflection showed a dishevelled mess in the abyss of darkness. He then examined the grandfather clock in the distance, it was only 4:15 am.

And the girl was right, he probably wouldn't be sleeping even back at Grimmauld Place.

"Ok." The girls face lit up, as a grin took place of the awkward simper that was there before.

SIRIUS SAT IN FRONT OF THE Potters guest bathroom mirror with a Burgundy towel sitting rigidly around his broad shoulders. The wooden stool Sirius sat on was uncomfortable and let out a horrid squeak with each movement the boy made.

Jocelyn was hurrying around the room, getting herself organised for the moment that was about to come.

The tense silence and awkward aura around the two teens was unsettling and if any other living being was in the room, they'd presumably want to head to the nearest exit immediately.

Jocelyn headed towards Sirius shyly, placing a box full of an array of hair styling tools. "Ready?" He nodded in response. Before beginning, she reached over her shoulder to play the soft tone by The Beatles known as, While My Guitar Gently Weeps. - (Play with rain in the background, it's so good holy shit).

Jocelyn took a piece of Sirius's matted locks and gently pushed a comb through it. Compared to the last person who touched his hair- his mother -this was much more pleasant and enjoyable.

The sound of the rain from a nearby blacked-out window, the snipping of scissors, the lovely singing of George Harrison, his acoustic guitar and the faint humming of Jocelyn Potter made Sirius Black murmur in content.

Something about this moment was the epitome of a rainbow after the storm.

Jocelyn began to lightly massage the boys' scalp with her beautifully french tipped nails and Sirius had to stop himself from moaning out of relief.

"I want you to know, Sirius," the girl whispered, "I've been thinking and I...I think we should start over." Sirius stopped for a second, turning to fully face Jocelyn, "what?"

"I want us to start over," she said stronger this time. "Resolve whatever bickering or competition we have between us and start again. Maybe not be the best of pals but-"

"Acquaintances?" He finished her sentence, "I was gonna say friendly but yes," she spoke breathlessly. He nodded slowly before turning back to his original position. "So... If you don't mind me asking... what happened? Back in third year?"

His mind travelled through time remembering the words that the two exchanged at the ripe age of 13. The thought sent shivers down both the teen's spines.

"I-" A beat of silence consumed the room, the only sound being the rain and slow grazing of George Harrison's guitar.

"My parents weren't thrilled about me not coming home for Christmas," he stated emotionlessly, "Why? I-If you don't mind me asking."

"I had received a letter the day before Christmas break," Sirius started, recalling the event. "They found a wife for me. She was eleven and I was thirteen. She's also my distant cousin."

"I'm so sorry," Jocelyn's breath escaped her lungs. Sirius looked up from the spot he was staring dispassionately. His stormy eyes found Jocelyn's chocolate ones. The sweet colour was filled with sympathy and guilt, along with a slight surprise and trust. Sirius never realised how different the two twins eyes had been.

When Sirius looked into James's eyes he saw the many glints of mischief and loyalty. Every so often the mischief was replaced with parental worry but nevertheless, it was home. His doe eyes were always something Sirius could come back to; To bring a good memory or five, James's orbs gave off a sort of shimmer that only Sirius could decipher. That Hazel colour brought the memories of a brother that Sirius longed to have in the dark and hallow halls of Grimmauld place.

Jocelyn, however, her eyes gave off the same sass and sarcasm of the one and only Remus Lupin. Although looking deeper he saw the fear that she faced after another sleepless night, the insecurities that hid behind another proud and stubborn Potter. Jocelyn's eyes had a variety of emotions that she's felt or better yet, longed to feel. James didn't have that. His orbs were more Hazel than chocolate and he was happy with what he had. Jocelyn's coffee-coloured eyes wanted more, you could see it in each light swirl around her pupil and each shadow the light casts in those Doe eyes of hers. Mystery. He could not figure Jocelyn Potter out.

Snapping out of his trance, he continued cautiously, "it had nothing to do with you. I promise."

"I'm not sure I understand," the scissors in her hand snipped silently as she avoided connection with him.

"Joyce." Jocelyn stopped at the mention of her nickname. "It was my fault. I lashed out to the nearest person and you took that the same way anyone else would. You fought back and that's ok. We both said things we didn't mean and the fact that resolving this was your idea proves that even more."

A small smile slowly raised on her rosy cheeks, her eyes lighting up ever-so-slightly. She walked in front of him, hiding the mirror behind her fit figure. She carefully released her hand from her side, offering for him to shake it.

"Truce?" Looking down, at her hand, she smiled back up at him. "Truce."

After a few minutes or so, a cheeky grin formed on her lips, "by the way, I won't tell anyone you're an animagus. Not unless you give me a reason to," she threatened, she looked up through her eyelashes.
