Soeun wake up wearing a wide a smile on her face. She's happy, really happy not just because of Soojin being the first one to greet her but also to the fact that today she'll be able to celebrate her birthday after three years of not being able to do so.
Her heart feels light unlike before where she feels heartbroken and lonely. She thought she won't be able to feel like this ever again. Starting today, birthdays are not just a normal day passing anymore, it'll be a special day for her to celebrate again with the people she love the most.
Soeun's POV
Remembering what happened last night, Soojin taking me to the rooftop and greeted me at exact 12 am never fails to make me smile. How come I forgot that my day is coming but not Soojin and even made it more romantic? I really love how Soojin always make me feel special even though we're not yet together.
Today, i won't attend classes but will go to work and after that we'll celebrate with the squad. Im happy to celebrate with them again. I just hope today will go smooth without any problems happening.
I finally rose up from my bed and as i fix myself, i noticed that my roomate is not on her bed. Usually at this time, she's deep asleep even snoring.
Suddenly, the kitchen lights turned on. Isa came out holding a cake with her.
"HAPPY BIRTHDAY SOEUN-AH!" she greeted me excitedly
"Thank you. You don't have to buy a cake tho."
"Nah, i want to. You know it's our first time celebrating your birthday." oh right.
"Here." she handed me a card. Is this a letter?
"Read that, i will take a bath" she patted my shoulder and went to the bathroom.
Should i read this now or later? nevermind i'll read it now, i won't have time later. I sat on my bed, opened the card and start reading.
Dear Soeun,
Happy Birthday! Wah it's the first time celebrating your birthday ever since we met each other. I know those past years are not really for you to celebrate... I met you when you're in the state of giving up. I saw how broken you are from all the crying. You felt lonely and I saw how you had a hard time where it came to the point that you're hurting yourself. I witnessed it all Soeun and as your friend, it hurts me seeing you like that.
Life is hard, right? But i tell you it's not always like that. I told you before, time will come and you'll finally see the bright side. Now, the bright side is here, your life is slowly getting better, your friends are back, you and Soojin will get back together soon. I can see you smiling really wide unlike before when all you do is cry. You don't know how happy i am everytime you tell me things with that smile on your face. Soeun-ah, my only request to you is to never lose that smile of yours. I am so happy for you. Always remember that im just here supporting you at all cost. Thank you for staying with me, I will always be your buddy okay? I love you!

It's so early in the morning yet im already a crying mess. Isa... i love her. She's with me at my worst until now. She's the friend that i never wanted to lose. She's one of the best things that happened to me.
I wiped my tears away but i just can't stop crying. Isa finally came out of the bathroom and i immediately come to hug her so tight. I heard her chuckle as she hug me back.
"Yah stop crying i might cry too." she said but i just cried louder. I want her to cry with me, nah im just kidding.
I opened my phone and was welcomed by a bunch of greetings from the squad. I didn't forget to thank all of them.

I went to the restaurant with Isa. We entered and to my surprise, everyone is already here? I don't know, we agreed that they'll go here later after their work.
They approached me and one by one, they greeted me with a hug. They gave me gifts and letters. Wah this just makes me extremely happy.
I looked at them one by one and realized that not all of them are here yet. Where's Soojin?
"If you're looking for Soojin-unnie, she said she needs to do something and will go here later." Jihan said. Woah does she read mind?
"Okay. How about you guys though, i thought the celebration will be later?"
"Change of plans. We came early to surprise you! Aren't you happy?" Jiyoon asked.
"Of course im happy." i gave them my brightest smile to show that im happy to see them.
An hour passed. We just keep talking to each other. Hwang Hyunjin and Sumin-unnie is here too and i couldn't be more happier.
Now we're just waiting for Soojin to arrive so we can finally eat. My phone lit up and speaking of Soojin, she just sent me a message.

I wonder who's the guest she's talking about. I don't mind though.
3rd person's POV
"Soeun-unnie are you happy today?" Zoa asked.
"Of course you guys are here." Soeun answered.
"Something's missing don't you think? or should i say someone?" Zoa asked. Everyone look at her with wide eyes and she just showed them a peace sign.
"Are you talking about Soojin? she's the only one missing" Soeun said. The others just awkwardly smiled at her that made her confused. She can even see Jaehee glaring at Zoa.
Not long after, Soojin finally arrived, she immediately approached Soeun and gave her a hug.
"Happy Birthday" she greeted and of course it made Soeun smile as well.
"Thank you, i thought you're bringing someone with you?"
"Oh right, yeah they're outside."
"You should let them in, who are they though?" Soeun excitedly asked.
"You'll see."
They started preparing their foods while Soojin went outside to invite the 'guests' over.
"Soeun-ah!" with some plates on her hands she turned to Soojin who just called her.
Her eyes widened seeing the two figures behind her. She can't believe what she's seeing now and she don't know what to react. She want to approach them but she's too scared.
Her hands are shaking. She's in the verge of crying. "Soeun-ah" Soojin went to her placed the plates aside to hold her cold hands.
"They're finally here. Your parents are finally here aren't you happy?"
"I d-dont k-know, w-hat if they're still mad at me. I---"
"Soeun, they're the ones who approached me to help them talk to you again. You might be wondering why it seems like im hiding something but it's actually them calling me often. This is the right time, Soeun-ah. Trust me." Soojin said looking directly as Soeun's eyes.
They let go of each other's hands. Soeun looked at her parents who are waiting for her. She can't even look at them properly but then, she met eyes with her mother. Her mother gave her a smile and there she lost it.
With tears falling from her eyes. She hurriedly ran to the two and gave them a very tight hug like her life depends on it.
"Im sorry" Soeun said while still crying. She has so many things to say but it's only the word that came out of her mouth.
The hug that she's been longing for. Almost four years without them, now they're finally together again.
"We should be the one apologizing, my daughter. We pushed you away when you needed us the most." her father said.
"We pushed you away but we realized it was such a dumb immature thing to do. It hurts me so much hearing from Soojin everything that you have been through. We're really sorry Soeun-ah." Soeun's mother said.
"I hope you give us a chance to be a better parent to you. We'll make it up for those years that we we're not able to take care of you." Soeun just nodded while still crying. She's lost of words and she's very happy right now. Them not breaking their hug just shows how they missed each other.
The others just watched them in awe. They're very happy for Soeun, they know how Soeun longed for her parents.
Soeun on the other hand, she feel so loved. Her heart feels so light. She don't have to worry anymore. Everything, everyone is here with her. This day is just so perfect.
