Ace was sat in one of the many chairs of the hospital waiting room. His feet tapped rapidly against the white floor, he had just ended a call with Veronica's parents who were already on their way there with Kai and Victoria
The boy wouldn't deny that he was worried when he received the call that something had happened to his friend.
"How is she doing?" a voice asked from behind Ace.
"What are you doing here Jaxson?" the Sanders boy questioned.
"She's my friend too." the Adamson boy stated.
"Are you trying to compete with me right now?" Ace inquired incredulously.
"Is everything a competition to you?" Jaxson responded his tone of voice matching Ace's
Ace did not respond, watching the boy carefully as he took a seat a few chairs away from him.

The boys sat in silence for at least another fifteen minutes.
"Ace, how is she doing?" Naomi Ferrero asked the boy as she walked into the waiting room with her husband and two children following close.
"She's in recovery right now the doctor said she should be fine." Ace explained.
"What exactly happened to her?" Victoria questioned from behind her parents.
"The doctor said she was dehydrated, and her blood pressure was low," Ace responded
"Probably because she didn't eat lunch at school," Jaxson announced, getting up from his seat.
"Who the hell are you?" Kaleb asked the boy.
"I'm Jaxson, Jaxson Adamson," he replied, causing Ace to roll his eyes.
"Are you the one she's working on the project with?" Naomi asked.
"Yes, for English." the boy said.
"Nice to meet you Jaxson." the woman replied.
"Nice to meet you too, Mrs. Ferrero."
"When will we be able to see her?" Kai inquired.
"Right now, actually," a voice spoke from behind the group.
They all spun around to see a woman in a white lab coat.
"How is she doing doc?" Kaleb asked the woman.
"She's awake now, her blood pressure was really low, you have to make sure she eats properly." the woman explained to them.
"Thank you for the information, and we will make sure she doesn't skip any of her meals." the Ferrero woman said.
"You guys are free to go see her now." the doctor commented, stepping aside so the group could make their way into the room.
"Veronica, sweetheart, how are you feeling?" Naomi asked her oldest daughter with a sad smile.
"I have a headache and I'm hungry." the girl muttered.
"None of this would have happened if you weren't skipping meals," Kaleb said a flat look carved into his features.
"I wasn't hungry at the time." the girl whispered in response.
"That's what you said last time this happened." the man snapped.
"If you don't remember the last time this happened, I wasn't in the best mental state." Veronica shot back, her anger rising slowly.
"So what's the excuse this time, that you just want attention?" Kaleb asked with a scowl.
A low chuckle escaped Veronica's lips. "So that's what this is about? You're upset because I didn't win the game and now you have nothing to go brag to your friends about." She revealed.
"That's not what this is about." the man scolded.
"No, that's exactly what you're mad about." the girl replied with a grimace.
"Honey..." Naomi started.
"No, mom, he only cares about himself and how his friends see him. As some high and mighty man with a perfect life but deep down inside he knows he isn't shit." Veronica rambled.
"I'm your father, you have no right to speak to or about me like that!" Kaleb yelled.
"Are you my father? 'Cause you act more like my manager." the brunette scoffed.
"I'm done talking to you." the man finalized.
"Get out then, all of you," Veronica stated
"Are you sure-"
"I said get out!" the girl snapped, cutting her mother off.

Everyone departed from the room except Jaxson, who was sitting in the window seat overlooking the parking lot.
"You should be nicer to them, you know." He told her.
"They should be nicer to me." the girl shrugged.
"They only care about themselves and their image." she continued.
"How do you know that?" Jaxson questioned, turning to gaze at her.
"They're the only reason I play tennis, they're the only reason Victoria is the captain of the cheer squad, they're the only reason Kai plays lacrosse. They use our accomplishments as bragging rights for them." Veronica explained to him.
"So, you're saying that they use your's and your sibling's achievements for self-confidence?" he queried with furrowed brows.
"Yep."
"No wonder you hate them so much, that's messed up," Jaxson stated
"So, how long do you have to stay here?" the Adamson boy questioned.
"The doctor said I'm fine, so I'll probably be here for a few more hours then I'll be discharged." the brunette stated.
"That's great," Jaxson said with a grin.
"So, why'd you come here?"
"What ?"
"Why'd you come here to visit me?" Veronica repeated.
"I was worried about you." the boy responded casting his gaze to the floor.
"Another question, what happened to your face?" she asked, having noticed the unusual blotchiness to his face.
"Ace punched me," he muttered in response.
"Do I even want to know why?"
"I don't think so," Jaxson mumbled.
Veronica smiled and shook her head. " You're such an awkward person." she laughed.
"How?"
"I don't know, I guess you're just antisocial and that makes it awkward." the girl responded.
"You're weird for even noticing that," the boy laughed.
"I'm not weird, I'm just observant." she retorted with a smile.
"Being observant is-"
"Hey, Veronica can I talk to you for a minute?" Ace questioned, cutting Jaxson off as he re-entered the room.
"Uh....sure." the girl said giving Jaxson a look.
"Yeah, I'll leave and give you two your moment," Jaxson spoke clearing his throat.
As the boy left Ace took the seat in the chair beside Veronica's bed.
"What do you want Ace?" the Ferrero girl queried.
"I'm sorry."
"I'm sorry for how I treated you for the past few days, I just let my jealousy get the best of me and I took my anger out on you." Ace explained.
"I'm sorry too." the girl sighed
"For what? It was all my fault." the boy told her.
"I'm sorry for avoiding you and being overly bitchy towards you. It was quite unnecessary." Veronica admitted.
"You had all right to treat me the way you did, I was just being a jealous dick." Ace confessed.
"I was in the wrong too, you know what they say two wrongs make no right," the brunette laughed quietly.
"It's fine, you know we shouldn't let a boy tear our friendship apart." Ace mumbled.
"I already told you, I don't see Jaxson in that way he's just a friend," Veronica stated.
"Yeah, yeah." the blonde boy drawled with a teasing smile.
"I'm serious Ace," the girl responded with a smile.
"And I am too."
